This is by far your most useful video! Getting to know people's concerns, agonies or thoughts is the only thing that can accelerate compassion and empathy between the people. I noticed here in Oslo, people have a hard time expressing their feelings and thoughts. I see that everyday in my workplace. It's not their fault, they're just in fear. Thanks for this very interesting video. I suggest you make a video about us expats living in Norway, I'm sure it's going to be very interesting. Dialogue is the key! Ha en god Fredag!

@@nihankik thank you for this comment Nihan. Honestly, I can't stress how vakker (beautiful in norwegian) it is so whenever you get chance, go explore! Scandinavia is such a fascinating part of the world

It really surprised me that a lot of people mentioned homosexuality as something which is taboo in Norway, as I always thought this country as one of the most accepting. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they don’t feel comfortable talking about intimate things. As a Latino, in my culture we’re very used to talk about intimate stuff with a lot of people and it is well socially accepted. Even talking about homosexuality doesn’t feel taboo at all in my country Uruguay for example.
I belive the teenagers in the interwiev are very young, shy and blushing in front of the camera. Maybe questions on taboo makes them blush even more…because of the camera. They are very cute! Most Norwegians are quite lay back about homosexuality. The Law is also very respectful of LGBTQ. Nothing to worry about. Welcome to Norway🇳🇴
Although true it matters a lot what family you grew up on. If you grew up in an evangelical family in Norway there will likely be an unspoken contrast in terms of prejudice. Serious Christians are sort of in the minority but in the majority among the rural elderly so there is also that. Kind of the "smile and be accepting in with strangers or in public cause they don't want to be called prejudiced while secretly being prejudiced" way of thinking.
Until lately it was taboo in America as well . Because it is immoral and against God . That's just the way it is and there is not a need to talk about it. If you choose to do that then it is something you keep to yourself out of respect for the majority that don't agree with it.
The teenagers and young adults are totally normal, then. It sounds like a lot of people mind their own business, and have trouble asking for help. I totally get that; it’s more fun to help others. It took me a long time to understand it’s rude to not let others have the fun of helping someone, so I started speaking up more.
For being one of the richer and more socially advanced Scandinavian country, it was surprising to learn that Norway is so backwards in it's views on mental health, gender appropriateness and on sex and sexuality!
Certanly not my experience with the people that live around me where I live in Norway. I also have good, openminded and honest friends tho, that's the type of people i naturally attract
QUESTION: was Norway always the way it is today in 2024 as people admit in this video? or was it the way these people describe it as being only in the wake of the second world war?
Thank you for the video! Where do you think the line is, I think Americans, myself, could learn to think more before they speak, or not try to say things as quick as possible? And maybe Norwegians can learn to have more confidence that Americans have? As in, I think if we met in the middle it would be pretty amazing
