Great vid. Back in the days when I did a lot of business travel, I used to do short hop flights from London via Vienna into Eastern Europe (sofia, bucharest etc) This was back in the 90's and for such flights it would be one of those twin prop engined planes. I actually loved those flights as it felt more engaging than the normal flights out of London. You enjoy the flying experience much better. Hi Sam, would highly advice you to travel to the capital of Somaliland, Hargeisa. Great city and there are a variety of Airlines which travel there via Dubai (FlyDubai A320) and Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines B737). If you do decide to come we will be honoured and grateful to welcome you.
Now THAT was a good one. Not watching old Sam lolling in superluxurious first class smooching with a usually beautiful female cabin crew member or three. A hands-on, professional presentation of remote places. I practically smelled the airplane interiors. Hats off to the pilots, too.
Sam they are angry because Somaliland authorities can imprison people from Somaliland for visiting Somalia. They view Somalia as an enemy and want to protect their claim if independence. To do this they limit all integration between Somali people in Somaliland and Somali people in Somalia. The people, language, and religion is the same. So if they didn't have strict rules and bans the people would integrate and their claim of independence would slowly be ignored and forgotten by the people.
So what about that Master Caution button? Why was it on every 2 minutes? Their muscle memory of just dismissing it every 2 minutes or so seems like a perfect recipe for the beginning of a disaster!

Another great video thanks Sam. I flew from Melbourne to Hobart in the jump seat of a TAA DC9 many many years ago, and to Adelaide on the floor of an Ansett 727 during the evacuation of Darwin after Cyclone Tracey in December 1974. Both very different rides.
cars can drive to the runway to pick up passengers! haha!! awesome!
Airplanes getting blown up again because some local clan feels like it that day. haha!! awesome!
WOW!!
Thanks for sharing Sam. Great as always!
Uh FlyDubai never flies the A320
Now THAT was a good one.
Very knowledgeable. Thank you. Kenyan in TX
Sounds like a rotten place for sure
@Mangrove RootsEducate me.
Hamidi Maqtal.. xayawaan
What an adventure, you are a brave guy Sam.
Thank you.
So what about that Master Caution button? Why was it on every 2 minutes? Their muscle memory of just dismissing it every 2 minutes or so seems like a perfect recipe for the beginning of a disaster!
I asked the pilots but it wasn’t a imminent problem. (Not master warning, the red key next to it)
Of course
Put a piece of black electrical tape over it like in my car🙄
Welcome to Kenya, Hakuna Matata. I'm Kenyan. I've worked as a security officer at Wajir Airport but now relocatd to Nairobi JKIA. Nowadays the African Express has no need touching down at Wajir Airport from Somalia, tjey normally use a different Terminal separate from the other planes. Hope you also enjoyed your stay in Kenya 🇰🇪.
"Looks like Alitalia invested a lot of money on the MD"
Indeed Sam, my father used to fly AZ dc's until late 1980's and md's until 2010, they were running a tight maintenance schedule and continuosly upgraded, efis was the major upgrade in 1994
It's nice to see survivors in Africa and Bulgaria
