SLEEP TRAINING 101| FROM COSLEEPING TO CRIB

  • Cosleeping is such a great thing that I fully support. However, sometimes it stops being the best choice for both the parents and the child. This is how I got my baby to sleep in his crib after cosleeping for 8 months!

      Many thanks, I've been looking for "baby sleep ideas" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Qeysaiah Baby Bangka - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend got amazing success with it.

    I’m watching this for the first time. I have read things but wanted to hear what my fellow mommies are going through. My son is 9months, breast fed, and still sleeps with his dad and I. However, he sleeps so bad now that it is time for him to transition. The only thing is, we have a bad habit of holding him while he takes naps. We know we won’t have this time with him for long so we’re holding on as long as we can. I really hope we can learn to let him go so he can learn to self soothe and sleep on his own. Thank you for your experience Love. It is appreciated.

      It’s never a bad habit to hold your baby when he sleeps. I did this for the longest time and still do it from time to time when he’s under the weather, or when we both feel like it ❤️ Like you said time flies, so cuddle and hold your wee one! I started transitioning my son to his crib and within just a few days he adjusted! So never worry you are creating a bad habit and “spoiling” your baby. You got this momma! ❤️

      I really needed to hear this I’m a first time mom and I feel like I’m creating a bad habit by letting him sleep with me and holding him every time he cries. everyone is telling me that I’m spoiling him but im just trying to enjoy him as long as I can

    I'm so glad i found this video. I'm trying to get my 7 month old to sleep in her crib. And when she would cry for 5 minutes, I would feel horrible like im an evil person to let her cry. I felt like I had failed as a mother and she would hate me. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

      Did u leave the room or sit there? And did you have to lay him.down? My girl will immediately roll over and stand or sit up. So she nods off and won't lay. So she jerks awake when she starts nodding off and cries more. Gets more upset if I lay her down. So idk what to do lol.

    First time dad here. My daughter is a sleep demon. If she gets laid on her back while not completely dead asleep she will wake the dead. I’m currently on day 3 of letting her do some controlled crying and it seems to be working. Tonight I rocked her for 20 minutes all while she was screaming beating me up and trying to crawl away trying to get her calm enough to be laid down and she never calmed down. I just had to set her in the crib. It took her 2 5-7 minute cry outs. And thank goodness she is out now. It’s insane the amount of power a tired baby has when they do not want to sleep. I swear she can lift a truck.

He’s turning 6 months and he’s at the stage where he whats to be with me but he seems uncomfortable n fussy n then if I lay Him down on his own he flips... Thank you mama💗 my mom raised her last kid in 2000 and firmly believes in the mean cry it out. She encouraged me to let my baby girl cry it out for nap today because she isn’t getting enough rest it was the most devastating thing I have done. She cried like I had never heard before. This sounds like a great alternative and I can’t wait to try it. 💗

    My baby cries every time he goes in his crib so I always put him in the bed because I didn’t want him to be upset but now he’s fell out of bed three times bc he wakes up before we do so now he absolutely needs to go in his crib . Thankfully he’s way taller than the height he fell but I rather him be upset with me than hurt so this video was super helpful for ideas how to approach the situation

I’ve tried putting her In her crib but she just won’t stop crying,she will cry for an hour if I let her.It breaks my heart ,I can’t just leave her. Hoping these tips works because im exhausted 😩. My 10 month old baby screamed 1 hour straight. I waited 15 minutes and went back in for an hour straight. Finally I gave up and brought him to my bed. We are trying to get him sleeping through the night and in his crib. He sleeps in his crib for naps IF I rock him and he falls asleep in my arms first. But he has yet to sleep in his crib all night. I am SO tired.

    Omg this has been me! My daughter had acid reflux and would wake up some nights choking. Even with burping frequently during and after a feeding, keeping her upright 20 minutes after a feed and tummy time, the reflux was an issue every now and again. It terrified me that I wouldnt wake when she was coughing so I started having her sleep on my chest for a while and then transition her to her bassinet after some time. Shes so dependent on me now to put her to sleep and comfort her back to sleep when she wakes

    • @Tasialeek
      @Tasialeek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My son had it really bad and i had a c section so I couldn't jump up and save him while he was choking so i moved him in bed with me so i could grab him when he did that. I have tried switching him to the crib but at night when he would wake up for feeding i was unconsciously brining him in bed with me.. dont know how to stop that

    My almost 5mth old is currently co sleeping but I’m finding that as he is restless or if I go to turn over he wakes up so we aren’t even getting solid sleep 😭 He was sleeping overnight in the crib for about 5hrs with 1 feed (I’m breastfeeding) but when he hit 4mths it all changed, and I caved into co sleep at night and through the day his 30-45min naps turned into 15min-30min naps as he would cry as soon as I put him down..I thought as he is almost 5mths it’s time to bite the bullet.. I made the room as pitch black as I could and tried the hands on settling.. he of course fought it for 45min but finally fell asleep in his crib… it’s his first nap so hoping that I don’t get too much push back from him.. thought I’d start to get him use to it through the day first then try nighttime … thanks for the vid.. very informative

    With my first baby I was able to do this. Took her 2 days, I left her, she cried, cried less second day and fell asleep.
    Th my second baby I can’t make my self do this 🤒. Just can’t let her feel sad and disappointed. I also read it affects babies in the long run. So God help me 🙏🏻

      It is definitely a tough decision. We all just do what we feel is best and with good intentions. Follow your gut! If you don’t want too then you don’t have too. I had my second baby and did it with him and even younger. He was way easier for me.

      But I don’t leave mine to cry until they’re quiet! I go in to check and pat their backs etc often until they sleep and I do it over and over when they wake up again until they’re asleep again.

My daughter has always slept in her crib , then we took a week vacation to visit my sister and she slept with me every since we came back home she doesn’t want anything to do with her crib she is a year now and if I leave her in there she starts crying hard and gets really red and it’s scary so I put her back in my bed with me ! How could I break this habit ?

      Hi, sorry I am late. I would work on night time sleep first. I would do all naps in the crib until baby has it down and then 1 of the naps baby can be held or in a swing but only if baby is still having two or more naps a day so baby can still get practice in their bed.

    Hi thank you for shearing your video! I have 10 months old boy and he is sleeping with me on my bed his nap and night time sleep. And it is dangerous like you said, so thinking to start sleep train him on his own crib. And here is a question. Did you start training him with naps and a night sleep in a same day or just naps? If just naps, did you keep him to sleep on your bed at night as usual?

    • @raisingbabydiaz
      @raisingbabydiaz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NCS M Hi! I honestly don’t remember. My son is almost 3 now so it’s been awhile. I think I did both naps and bedtime at the same time. Once he seemed to have it down I would occasionally let him nap with me or sleep with me because I missed it haha but it didn’t affect anything. As long as it’s not for most of your child’s sleep they should be ok. Goodluck!

    I have heard that co-sleeping can be dangerous for the baby such as risk of rolling over on him, suffocation from the blankets, or the baby rolling off the bed. What did you do to prevent thinks of this sort and give yourself peace of mind. I have a friend whom Is 7 months pregnant and she wants to co-sleep but is scared of these things happening to her.

    • @raisingbabydiaz
      @raisingbabydiaz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haley Brand every parent will do what they feel is best. I felt safer with him by me and never had any close calls. Bed sharing is especially safe for breastfeeding moms. Baby and mom are in sync and wake at the same times and usually naturally cradle the baby with their body in a c shape. A mother shouldn’t sleep with their baby if they smoke, drink or anything of that nature. The baby shouldn’t be swaddled. Many cultures cosleep, in the US it’s more taboo. Here’s a link to a nice photo that has shown nicely. goo.gl/images/47oozJ

      There is a way to safely co sleep. It’s not for everyone. There are studies that show when following the saftey steps it’s perfectly fine. A few of the rules: You know yourself if you are a heavy sleeper this is not for you. You can not be under the influence of any medication, alcohol, or drugs (also not a smoker). Breastfeeding is best when co sleeping. Keep your pillow away from baby. Put your head on the edge of it or not at all. Keep blankets away also. When they are younger put them in the bend of your arm. Baby should always be in the middle of the bed so they don’t roll off.

    • @sarrco9927
      @sarrco9927 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Nicoleemariaaa I followed those same steps for both kids and never had any issues.
      We got one of those very soft light sheets (like a fleece sheet) and used that instead of a comforter. We also took the pillows off our bed, except for 2. I always would fall asleep with him in my arm or against me, never with my back turned to him.
      Theres a lot of new studies saying it's best for the baby and then there are some that say it's not. But it is proven to lessen the likelihood of sids

    • @samanthaodle9329
      @samanthaodle9329 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done bed sharing with both of my daughters. I would put my daughter perpendicular to the direction I was laying so she wouldn’t roll into me. I did this til about 3-4 months old. My husband also works nights so it’s just me and my daughter in a king size bed so I also put her on the other side of the bed so I know she’s not close to any pillows and comforters etc. I’ve never had a problem 😊 also, the pediatrician told me that the only cases of babies being rolled over on is the dad doing it or a mom who is under the influence of any substance.

I have anxiety and I don’t want him to feel abandoned I don’t know what to do when he gets like that he just sits back up and cries he usually comfort sleeps with the boob but I rather try to whine him off if at night. He doesn’t take a pacifier so I’m kinda stuck and don’t know what to do

      veeka1233 hes old enough to not need to eat in the night. It’s habit. He’s used to it. He will cry because he knows no different. I wouldn’t pick him up and would just go on and soothe for a few minutes. I pat mine on the back or rub his head and then leave and start the timer and repeat until he is asleep. My baby went from waking 11x in 4 hours and bedsharing to in his own bed and waking 1x around 5am! For me that’s a win! He sleeps 7pm-5am and then in my bed until we wake up. My older one sleeps 7-7 I did the same sleep training with him, he’s now 3 years old.
