Jay!!! Thanks for doing this compare since I had requested it. Very much appreciated.
I think you know me by now based on the comments I make on your channel and it should be no surprise to you that I’m going to focus on sound and feel 😉.
Btw your room acoustics are phenomenal.
In my opinion, the JPX 923 Hot Metal Pro takes the win for sound and feel. And not just against the 245 but against most of the irons border lining that Players Distance category.
The sound engineering on these sticks is one of the greatest achievements I’ve come across in club head design.
I’ve field tested pretty much every iron out there and the Jpx hm pros keep making their way into the bag.
If you then consider the other criteria like ball speed and forgiveness it’s a no brainer why these clubs should be at the top of the demo list for every golfer who wants to make the game easier.
The only change I would like to see for the next iteration of the JPX hm pro would be a slight change in the 4 and 5 irons so I don’t see the back of the club from the address position. Hence why I use a 245 3 iron at the top of my iron set.
    All the very best. Cheers.

I was waiting for this comparison! I got fitted for a set of 4-PW 923 HMP with Project X LZ 6.5 last fall and I've been kicking myself a bit thinking I should have waited for the 245s. But seeing how little difference there is between the two mollifies me a bit, especially with the price difference.

Hi Jay, great video as always. Just tried the Pro 245, 243, 923 Forged, and the 923 HMP. I did not get on well with either of the 923s which surprised me though my clubhead speed is low to mid 80s so did not get enough peak height. I always seem to do better with a thinner soled club compared to the thicker soled clubs. They felt good though and did not mind the looks at all. I then tried the 243 and immediately my peak height was in a good window and my descent angle was consistently above 48° so on the right track. I moved into the 245 which I really liked the look of better than all the others. Well, it performed great, a bit longer than the 243 but what I really liked was the peak height and the descent angle which were slightly higher than the 243, win win. I am hoping to hit the 243 and 245 off grass very soon and see if the results are similar to the simulator, if they are and the 245 still out performs the 243 in height and descent angle I will go with the 245 but maybe weaken the loft 1° to keep the peak height and descent angle functional down to a 5 iron. Being in my mid sixties I have moved to graphite shafts and on this occasion I hit UST Recoil 95 shafts in both stiff and regular flex, the flex did not seem to make much difference in performance though the regular flex just seemed a bit smoother. Great job Jay!

Great comparison. I’m going in for a Mizuno fitting this week. I’m looking at either JPX 923 Forged or MP 245.
I played JPX 923 HMP (off the rack set) this past year which I really enjoyed, but the face was way hotter than I’d like as it started to make gapping issues. Plus I missed the solid feel of forged scoring clubs. I can attest to the retained performance on toe misses as that is where I generally miss the face.

Interesting video showing while the 923 Hot Metal Pros might be more forgiving overall, on heel strikes (my most common miss) the MP 245 is actually just as or more forgiving. As a 20 handicap with 80 mph 7 iron swing I’ve been scared away from the pros but it looks like if I’m ever going to make the jump to the Pro series, the 245s could be the ones. Hard decision when the HM Pros are cheaper.

Yes I've hit the 5, 7 and 9 iron and although you can feel a slight difference running into the GFF 1025e later on there aren't any weird distance gapping issues. The purpose of the change in metals and the offset of the change in tungsten is to stop any weird and wonderful distance gappings between the scoring irons 👍🏻

Thanks for this one. I got the 923HMP december 2022, but find the 245 much prettier. And filled with tech, you start wondering if they are the better choice...
The forgiveness on the HMPs you mesasure is quite cosistent with my experience. E.g. when I feel that I have hit a terrible toe shot, and immedietaly complain, I get some raised eyebrows from my buddies, as it is hardly possible to see a reduced performance, and it usually ends up quite well... 😅
As I'm actually normally toe biased with my mishits, otherwise low middle, the HMP's seem to be the better choice than the 245.
In the hypothetical, that I could choose either Today, the price diff. would still allow me to get HMP's, and then add a brand new set of three S23 or T24 wedges to replace old worn wedges, and still have money to spare!! 😮 That would scoring wise more than make up for 245's slight performance advantage on heel strikes. As a matter of fact, I actually did get a pair of S23's in the same spec/shaft as my HMP's, and I love them. 😎
All in all, this review makes me (stay) happy with my HMP's - even though the 245's are sooo pretty.

It definitely is a consideration that many people will have to weigh in on their decision. • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Vertically wise they are basically identialcal, the baseline height may well go to HMP but the amounts you can alter flight between them very much so depend on the golfers ability to control angle of attack and dynamic loft. When it comes to workability of curvature, again both clubs given the same or very similar club face to path will tilt the axis of the ball the same amount, what more workable in these two would mean that due to the 245s head CG being closer to the shaft axis CG due to its smaller head, the 245s wont be as stable to that of the larger headed HMP 👍🏻

If you don’t hit them right in the middle you pay a huge penalty. On the very positive side when you hit the 0317t right in the middle it almost feels like your club is made out of rubber. Just a weird but great sensation at least for me who loves buttery soft.

Compared to my blades they look as though they are a golf club behind 🤣🤣

225 to 245? Not sure it’s worth the change

Massive fan of the channel Jay, but seeing the video length of 24 mins puts me off viewing 😢. Head to head like this doesn't need to be more than 10 mins.

Wowsers, I can't imagine how I am going to get all the information I put into an in depth comparison into a 10 minutes or less video....
I would be really interested if you could download my video (you can download in 720p resolution for smaller file size), re-edit it showing what bits you would remove and then once done, I'll happily take a look at what you would sacrifice from it and then put the results to my subscribers to see if they prefer the much more bullet point type review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@AskGolfNut That's fair enough, if you want to keep it thorough? Maybe some chapter / bookmarks so the viewer has a bit more control over which parts to skip to?

Sorry I thought I had done that on this video, I'll edit it again to reflect the individual parts...i still would be very interested though in how you would segregate and or remove certain sections to consolidate the 24 minutes into less than 10 👍🏻
I've always struggled to get across everything within an in depth review discussing the performance and forgiveness differences (arguably the hallmark of my channel and which differs from all others) etc, so would be really very interested if you could show me what you would want to remove at what points so then I can put it to my subscribers and see what they think of the new format 👍🏻👍🏻

Please stop talking about yourself it’s so annoying to hear you constantly mention your swing

Km assuming this is the first time you have watched my channel. I believe you are the first person to mention this specifically in this video. There is a reason why I am vocalising my thoughts and it's no different to what all golfers do when they play and they know they have a swing change to do.
I'm telling my viewers (and ones that have watched me for some time) that I need to work on my swing with certain parts of it getting out of sync since completing the reviews at multiple swing speeds etc.
I understand that this is something you don't wish to hear so can only apologise for that, hopefully you got something from the content other than my swing update 👍🏻
