i never thot one day i wud watch this ...at the comfort of my own home ...n bed on a small gudget..called a smartphone n strings in my ears called earphones.....bila ...kuulizwa ati ..." ume maliza homework"?.. life is indeed a mystery.....
Indeed life IS a mystery.... I remember when I was a child I would wish for a small gadget where I w’d watch all shows in my room with no disturbance. And here I am doing exactly that!!!
I remember this with nostalgia.... Jus recently I bumped into Ojwang's grave at Langata cemetery. May he rest in peace and all other old school comedians 😭😭😭
I just shed a nostalgic tear. This was the height of our Saturday evening entertainment. Alafu it coincides with the one Saturday of the month chapo n ndengu was being made.👏
Kids used to come home just to watch this on our black and white greatwall with low volume,my father was fearing thieves might realize we have a TV and break in..Life is funny now I just watched it 2018 on my smartphone...
its a pity that VOK and KBC failed to digitize such quality footage and sadly I heard much was damaged due to poor storage.. A lot of valuable archive news footage has been lost forever

I didn’t know this show was around in 1979. I was born in 84 and was watching it while growing up in the 90’s. Remember the other show Vioja Mahakamani? lol

These clip is worth millions of Shillings..when you watch these and compare to todays comedy you will realize these is most creative....R.I.P mzee Ojwang a true Legend...
I remember these comedians came to the KNLS Nairobi library sometime in the 80s one Saturday afternoon to put on a free show for us. They had a skit about mandazi which made us laugh so hard. I miss my innocent carefree childhood. Saturday evenings watching Vitimbi made my weekend complete
Oh God! How I miss those days, we had little but life was sweet, so simple, there wasn't so much evil n thuggery that exists today in my beloved country. Hizo siku hata hakukuwa na milango za chuma/ grill doors, na hatukuwa tukivunjiwa manyumba, arrgh miss it so much!!
I believe this is one of the earliest episodes of Vitimbi comedy. The creativity and talent of the characters are incomparable. Thumbs up to Kenyan🇰🇪 entertainment industry. Still watching it in May-4th-2020.
In those days there was only one tv set in the whole province called greatwall Now am watching it in a small portable like television thru the internet (smartphone) How life changes
Its 2022 and I am still enjoying watching this comedy with a good laugh just as I did when I was young. The acting those days was just too good and miss those days. May the ones who are not with us, rest in peace.
I can't imagine i am watching this on a smartphone from a red Greatwall T. V Set. There were only 3 TVs in the Estate way back then and ours was amongst them. Good memories. I miss you Dad. 🧡 Shauri Moyo Estate♥️🇰🇪
Wakati tulikuwa na t.v. white and black battery ni ya landrover charge ikansa kusima kama ulikua na torchlight hiya battery ndio tuna unganisha teweze kuona vitimbi tunawa kumbuka milele rest in peace our hero's
odhiscroco Actually Anyong'a (Othorong'ong'o) hailed from Makongeni but went to primary school at the nearby St. John's (Kaloleni) where John Ngumi of Kenya Pipeline went to school also.
Kenya did a disgrace to these actors.. they were the foundation of all Kenya comedy, music and all these media we have today..God bless Ojwang and the rest
Othorong'ong'o must have been quite a big football star in Congo LOL! This was real comedic genius. Comedians in my country could learn much from them. RIP "Jaduong" Ojwang.
Are you from Congo? I went to St. John's primary school in Kaloleni, Nairobi with Othorong'ong'o (his real name was Anyong'a). He was quite a talented footballer for real but was cut from the school team because all his moves were so hilarious that made us (his teammates) die with laughter. R.I.P. Anyong'a.
I wish if we can go back to those day's it was good respect ilikuwa sikuhizi mambo imebadilika Heshima ulizikwa Maisha imebadilika tumesahau Mila zetu tunajifanya wazungu hata lugha zetu tumesahau kabisa mwenyezi mungu tu atusamehe
R.I.P Ben I loved the confidence in you and u made a legacy...I had to demand vitimbi during entertainment in high school and it was an issue for the whole school..we too shall follow.. God be with ur family..
Indeed this is the end of an great era. We all were glued to Great wall at village tea kiosks until 9 p.m. Pioneers comedians who laid a strong foundation that the young comedians are enjoying. As nation we have failed to establish a tradition of honoring our heroes and heroines particularly when they are alive. It is indeed a shame however all is not lost we still can. I ask all artists to be united. Rest well Mzee Ojwang' .
1979! Mama Kayai should be celebrated big time
