Ambient music:
As a genre, ambient focuses on creating a mood or atmosphere through synthesizers and timbral qualities. It often lacks the presence of any net composition, beat, or structured melody. Due to its relatively open style, ambient music often takes influences from many other genres, ranging from house, dub, industrial and new age, amongst several others. Since it is a relatively ambiguous term, ambient has no distinct characteristics, and its style can vary a great deal. In essence, it is a term to describe any form of electronic music which puts an emphasis on tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure or rhythm. Ambient music is often highly conceptual and experimental in style, while it is said to evoke an "atmospheric", "visual" or "unobtrusive" quality.
Space music:
Space music, also called spacemusic, is an umbrella term, synonymous with a segment of New Age Music and Ambient Music. It has also been associated with preceding styles of relaxing music such as lounge music, easy-listening, and elevator music... space music can evoke a "continuum of spatial imagery and emotion,"which can be beneficial for introspection, and for developing, through a practice of deep listening, an awareness of the spatiality of sound phenomenon. This type of psychonautic listening can produce a subtle trance-like state in certain individuals which can in turn lead to sensations of flying, floating, cruising, gliding, or hovering... space music is used by some individuals for both background enhancement and foreground listening, often with headphones, to enable states of relaxation, contemplation, inspiration, and generally peaceful expansive moods; it may promote health through relaxation, atmospherics for bodywork therapies, and effectiveness of meditation. Space music appears in many film soundtracks and is commonly played in planetariums.

I’ve come to the conclusion that any synth demo that uses an Eventide Space or Big Sky Reverb is automatically going to sound amazing.
Hehe... they are great pedals, but the synth itself and performer also plays a part. :) But if you like big reverbs, they are both great choices (as is Ventris Dual Verb).
Nice, very Blade Runner, this is one of the better ones I’ve seen using either reverb.
Consider getting Eventide Blackhole VST if you're on a budget. It's usually $30 on sale by Eventide. I use it in EVERYTHING now. Only use the Space when I don't want my computer running.
Incredible... beautifull, cosmic music ..
Thank you very much
Great toon, and amazing demo of this long-forgotten axe. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the demo and music. AX-60 is very versatile considering its specs and price point!
Very Clean, astronomical sound 👍 good Work.
Thank you for taking the time to listen, I appreciate it.
Wonderful ambient track! The eventide really enhances the ambiance of the synths.
Cheers!
+Philip+ Thanks very much! Yes indeed... Eventide SPACE definitely added some lush texture to this piece!
I enjoyed your ambient improvisations very much.
Thanks very much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the ambient music.
Excellent stuff! I really dig it man!! 🎧
Thanks so much! Really appreciate you taking a moment to listen and leave a comment.
Awesome ambient trip! Great work as always!
+Ralph Baumgartl VLog Thanks much Ralph... I think this is one of my better pieces, personally. Glad you liked it!
great DEMO...like it...happy weekend
+Daro72 Cheers, glad you enjoyed it!
Gorgeous sounds... Excellent track!
Thank you Marc! Glad you liked it.
Super awesome composition man! I'm gettin' ideas as always fer some more Spanish guitar augmentations. as soon as I get time, I'll have another introspective session with my Spanish guitar. Enjoy the weekend and as always, keep up the good work!
+lightnintrucker Thank you for listening as always, I appreciate it! How was the Spanish guitar session? :)
+synth4ever This composition in particular fer me requires a lot of tonal exploration fer shure : )
Great Sounds and Video
Thank you for listening!
How do you mix these - is it usually reverb at 100% wet? Or do you have a certain amount of mixing of dry signal? Sounds very much like you have mostly wet signal (not complaining). But I love the smooth textures you get from these. Very magical :)
Thanks. Its been awhile since i did this but im sure reverb was more than 50% wet. I typically experment until i find the sound i want and then start recording from there. I dont think this was 100% wet though. Glad you liked it!
Awesome.
Génial !!! merci pour la démo :)
+Eric Fischer De rien... merci pour écouter!
Super, merci ;;))
+papy nounn Merci aussi :)
Enjoyable Trip!
+DearbornJohn Appreciate you taking the time to listen, thanks so much.
Awesome track thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks for watching!
Incredible work here :)
Thank you my friend! :)
Beautiful Ambient track! The AX60 sounds like such a great synth to use. Well done!
+MrFricoco Thank you my friend, I agree the AX60 is a pleasure to play... very capable for its price point and features.
like the electronic music !
Thank you Horst!
Super,......Slowakia
Espetacular!
I just got an AX60 for my first keyboard today, other than an old Yamaha I haven’t played one as such before. Hopefully it turns out ok, and I figure out the settings.
Congratualtions. It is a very capable synth and looks can be deceiving. There is lots under the hood with the AX-60, and it is a lot of fun to explore. Enjoy it!
synth4ever what does the box do atop the keyboard?
@@logant7985 That's the Eventide Space reverb pedal, it provides nice reverb effects as shown in this video.
Very nice, subbed!
Thanks so much, appreciate it! :)
great stuff
+JediSid Thanks buddy!
BRAWO!
+Lenrok :)
Pretty music. Just curious, why do you convert TRS => RCA => TRS ?
...cheaper? Doesn't seem like it would be. What a funny thing to notice, but now I'm curious too.
TBH cuz I haven't bothered to buy proper patch cables :) But it still sounds good to my ears...
synth4ever hahaha!!!!! Awesome!
Can afford thousands of dollars of synthesizers; cannot afford 30 dollars worth of 1/4" cabling. :)
+James Meeker 10 bucks even
Awesome track :-)
+i Faber Thank you for your support!
Beautiful sound from that reverb and Akai, I am looking for a reverb either the eventide space or the strymon big sky, you have any experience with the Strymon? From what I can hear the Strymon have this really big lush creamy reverb but that is not always what you want even if it sound amazing for big ambient pads. The Eventide space you use here do sound really massive and nice also but without a side by side comparison it's hard to know for sure. I do get the feeling that the space is a bit on the sharper grittier side and the strymon smoother, not necessarily a good thing it all depends on the style of music.
Thanks for sharing this, was really nice.
Hi, your analysis is pretty much what I would say as well... you can't go wrong with either, just depends on the type of reverb qualities you want. If you want to hear the Strymon Big Sky, check my other videos on my channel.
Great, how would you say software reverbs compare to these units since you tried them. Some swear by software being just as great but I also know there are a bunch of nerds swearing by their software because it's easier to convince themselfs of that than spend a lot of money on something they can't afford.
Vallhalla for instance many say is just as good as Strymon but somehow I find it hard to believe. In one thread on gearslutz a guy said the strymon was cleaner in a mix and that is exactly my problem with most software that everything seems to have this thin muddy film over it that just adds up on every vsti you use and eventually that nice sound you used to have is not there anymore. Then you have to do massive EQ and then that mess with the actual sound of the nice synths you invested a lot of money in and so it goes on and on. I mean I sure wouldn't say no to an amazing reverb in software that is also but is it reality yet? I will definitely try the Vallhallas out when I get the time.
Another thing when I'm at it, how well does it sync, let's say I hook this reverb up to my focusrite Saffire pro 40 and want it to be sends into Studio One to put on a track, will it sync well and not create any latency issues?
Thanks a lot for your respone it's appreciated, I will check your other videos now.
I can't comment on software reverbs as I have't used them. I prefer the tactile immediacy of hardware units to be able to tweak them in real time, although I suppose you could do same with software + MIDI controller mapping. That said Valhalla does seem to be quite decent from demos that I've heard, so I would suggest at least taking a look at it.
As for sync'ing, I haven't explored that as I don't use a DAW (yet). That said I believe both the SPACE and Big Sky have MIDI connections so would expect they should be able to seamlessly sync, however check their user forums and manuals for details.
@@MessiahGaming1080p Vallhalla vintage verb is really a good and cheap option IMHO hard to beat..unless you want the tactile immediacy..
Yeah I heard good about all the Vallhallas so I will check them out more. Not sure they have that sort of grit though that hardware does, sometimes software just don't seem to get away from their sterile awareness. Everything is so clean and perfect that it make softsynths, effects etc just sound really boring. I have heard some videos of the shimmer and I must say that one sound good, at least when you run some analog gear through it.
Thanks for the reply man.
Very Steve Roach👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Was thinking the same thing
is this a preset on the ax60 or do you modify the synth to sound like this?
I modified the synth to sound like this, the reverb effects also play a large role in overall sound.
I just bought an eventide space.... I'm playing, but I can not get a good performance. For example, what memory are you using here? ....thnnnnkkksssss
I believe its preset 21 - Ekospace-G
How is the mod matrix on it?
Fairly simple routings, but sufficient enough for most bread and butter purposes.
High hopes and dreams... i'm sad you leave so far from me ! Grrr
Can u use it as mono?
You can use it in Unison mode so yes.
@@synth4ever No, unison is a different story
The Eventide does all the work in this one, it becomes irrelevant which synth lies underneath..
I had an AX60 years ago. It never sounded like this!
Thanks! The Eventide SPACE reverb really helps give it lushness, but it also sounds great on its own. :)
Not that I remember, though it's been a long time since I owned one.
No issues with sticky sliders but they do feel a bit slower compared to other synths... if they've been sitting idle for awhile, they also only change the sound when you pass a certain threshold value of the parameter you're adjusting and then the edit jumps to that new position... can be a bit annoying at times. Same issue with Roland JD800.
300th👍🏾
Thank you for the support!
Almost fell asleep.......
thanks, if you need some help with me, i'm here
Nice!!!
+Marco Gamberi Grazie!
