Love it! One thing to add for anyone looking to get into PRS: it doesn't have to be this expensive. I'm over a year and a half in and I'm still shooting a 2005 vintage Savage Model 12 that I rebarreled at home. I shoot 223 in Tactical Division because components are cheaper. I use a no name rear bag from Amazon and borrow a bipod and Bison Tactical front bag from a friend who also competes. I started with a borrowed Vortex PST gen 1, and bought my own gen 2 when i could afford it.
You won't win Open with budget gear like that, but you'll learn a whole lot. I do have a Regional division win and a club division win though, so you can get pretty far.
Just get whatever you can cobble together and get out and shoot! Don't let the fear of not having the perfect setup stop you from competing.

Every receiver I barrel gets measured, recorded and put in my files along with the customers name. Have fun with that rifle, and am looking forwards to seeing your upcoming videos.

Are you still shooting F open? I really hate how it all unfolded.

I noticed a kind of trend for PRS that is developing. More and more static shooters are moving to dynamic shooting.
Is it caused by reaching a certain level that can't be surpassed anymore, that can't go any higher in static shooting, groups so tight that couldn't be tighter 🤔

I live 12miles from Alabama Percision match and been wanting to join I was going get in production class but they kept raising the money on production until it was basically a open rifle. So I’ve decided to wait on funds to build a open rifle. Then we got joe Biden for president lord help us all. Alabama Percision is just outside carbonhill city limits in a strip pit reclaim think it goes out to a mile!

I love that you respect the differences between prs and Fclass. Two different sports, with two different sets of gear, and two different skill sets. Thanks for that. Good luck at the prs matches

I would have bought the defiance action and bartlein barrel both from bug holes. Their savage style nut is a game changer for headspacing. It took them forever to nitride both the barrel and action, but they made two 1/4 MOA rifles for me 6.5 in an AICS chassis and 6mm creedmoor in a MPA ESR chassis. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Everyone out here shoots a defiance deviant tactical action. Think we had one Surgeon. I lied, we had one GAP tempest last year also. Wish we had more choices for tripods. The ARCA RRS is getting hard to find.
Alpha brass is amazing. I'm glad you found some. I went with a M24 profile barrel on the 20" 6.5 creedmoor since I run a suppressor. The 6mm CM was a 26" med palma with an Area 419 brake.

Been watching your videos for a while and picked up some great info.
    Welcome to PRS!
Have to admit I am fully addicted........ But I have always gotten a chuckle out of the way that one of my fellow competitors explained PRS to a newbie. (Preface - we're in Canada and a twonie is a two dollar coin) He said "get a big bag filled with $10,000 in twonies; then go find an extremely large field and throw them as hard as you can one at a time. If you like that you're going to love PRS" 😁

Been wanting to try the PRS but there is nothing local to me available and i'm not interseted in driving 8 hours or more to try it. Good choice on the caliber i have worn out many Dasher barrels and they always do well and easy to load for. I'm hearing good things about the PRS matches like they aren't associated with the NRA and don't have to give them a large % of money from the matches and they give out good prizes etc. no one wants to drive a long distance and win a $10 plastic trophy or plaque or paper certificate. I like the choice of stock #1 because it's not a chassis, I find them uncomfortable and awkward. I have one and have tried to like it and it hasn't happened yet. Thanks for the ride along it should be fun.

I recently built myself a rifle that I would use for PRS had I the chance to shoot in one. I came across a smoking deal on a New Zermat Origin barreled action in .204 Ruger with a fluted Muller barrel on it . Customer was mad it wouldn't feed from a Rem factory type mag he wanted $500 for it, I broke my arm grabbing for my wallet. The action has a Savage style bolt head and for $105 I purchased a .473" bolt head so I can either run .223 or 6mm .473 barrels on it. I takes about 2 mins to change the bolt head. So far I'm impressed with the action and Jewell trigger I inst. I put it into a B&C M5 Target/ Comp stock $475 and skim bedded the action only. I have alot of customers that pull their 6mm barrels after 1200 rounds. So, I cut them back and recontour them for my tac rifles and they shoot great. So far for that rifle i have 6x47 lapua and .223 rem and 6mm Dasher and 6mm BRA and a .308 the action has a Savage tenon with 20 TPI so you can either use a savage barrel and nut or shoulder the barrel like a remington. Which gives you endless possibilities for barrel selection. It would be a cheaper way for a person to have 1. rifle for multiple tasks.

What chassis are you running that you don't like and why? I've been planning a build forever but can't narrow down a darn thing. I follow PRS to keep an eye on what's hot but it's been all over the place the past several years and I can't make heads or tails out of what I want stock wise. Old dream was a custom McMillan A-5, more recently I've looked at MPA, MDT and XLR but am not sold on chassis either. I've got a Tikka T3X TAC-A1 and while it's a very nice rifle and I love being able to adjust everything fit wise and fold the stock out of the way for cleaning, I think I like the overall shooting feel of my old T3X CTR better.

@@DanielReyes-hz1qk I've had them all in here building customer rifles MDT, Cadex, MPA, XYLO. Nothing against the AR crowd but i hate the feel of them. I've shot Classic Military, BR and F-Class and all the Shotgun disciplines those type of stocks I like and work for me. I'm in my 60s set in my ways and like a traditional smooth and rounded wood or composite stock as opposed to sharp and square edges with a narrow forend and a grip that hits the bench etc. I know to the young folks that sounds like a Fud but it's what like. Most all my hunting rifles have XXX walnut stocks on them because they work.

    • @DanielReyes-hz1qk

@@markthegunplumber8376 I appreciate the response sir. My first precision rifle was a Springfield Armory M1A Super Match from maybe 25 years ago. After selling it I shot some M40A1s, a few M21s and an M24 before my first precision AR-15 around 2013. Definitely a different feel both in platform and in stock/chassis. Guess I'm still on the fence with which way to go, maybe I need to dial in the rest of my wants first and come back to stock choice again later on

What methods are used to balance rifles like this for PRS? Is it all in barrel length and contour? I know balance has been a huge focus in PRS so I'm surprised to see the shift away from modular chassis to more traditional fixed stocks
