What did they do? All these videos are purely narrative and meant to gain followers, so I am not able to see what happened that is racist. Kids putting dumb make-up on is not racist.
I used to think that parenting has generally been the same, it's just that social media has put a spotlight on the whole world, so we're prone to see bad behaviour more. However, I can't bring myself to believe that anymore. Between these Sephora and Prime kids and what teachers are saying nowadays, there's something genuinely dystopian and degenerate going on with modern parenting. I look around and see how parents and children interact as if they're peers. Parents using their kids for online clout. Everyone on their tech devices, not building healthy interpersonal skills nor teaching them public etiquette, because "we're always right".
My sister is a twelve year old Sephora kid. She won't admit it and says "Sephora kids are 11 and 10. I'm not one of them." It makes me feel ashamed as an older sister. I've been trying to parent her out of it and my mom has slowly been realizing the issue with her behaviour as well. I hope this is just a quick trend that'll end sooner or later.

It mostly happens on the internet. But I agree. It’s bad when people infantilize them on the internet. It’s just strange someone would refer to 20 somethings as adult babies or refer to older kids as babies. People that age can get charged or sent to jail.

I'm 11 and I'm honestly disgusted by how some people my age are getting raised. Like, how did they even think about going to a public store, act like an idiot, and think they wouldn't get caught?! I honestly think we should have an age limit at Sephora, or just makeup stores in general!
I'm 11 too bro, this is actually sickening 🙁 How are you gonna go into a public store, PURPOSELY WALK OVER to the foundation section and PUT DARK BROWN FOUNDATION ON YOUR FACE. AND THEN SAY "Oh!!! They didn't know any better!!🤧🤧" THEY CLEARLY DID
If, as a mixed half black woman, I was "old enough" to be called the n word and know what it meant, then they are old enough to know why the fuck it's wrong.
@@piscesmercury im from Guatemala and from the school this girls are from and we do not have the same level of context that Americans have also you have to take into account that this girls are 12 year olds and even though they know this is offensive they don’t really know how offensive it can be in the school they are from it’s one of the best schools and has many teachers that are from American but here in Guatemala most people are more torelant to racism so most likely this girls just thought that as long as it’s just a joke no one would get offended and unfortunately a lot of people got offended by there actions
@@rodrigoignaciolunacruz3545 Whether they are from Guatemala or not, it doesn't justify anything. I'm Latinoamerican, and I agree that racism here is wildly normalized; but it definitely does not excuse their behavior. They clearly knew what they were doing, they've grown up with internet access and they were clearly giggling and making animal sounds while they did it.
We don’t need to infantilize for things like racism. Some things are hard line issues that need to be addressed. She may not know the history behind blackface, but she does not need it to know it’s disgusting and wrong. 12 is plenty old enough to know racism is bad. Maybe not 2 years old, but 12 is PLENTY
Yes, and if that 12 year old didn't konw the racist history it's her parents job to tell them "wipe that off right now and we're going to have a conversation about some history when we get to the car!" not "lol! so funny! let me take a pic!"
I was five when I got to know what racism is and why it is bad. Im South Asian but my parents made it a point that i will know and i have always automatically known that racism shouldn’t exist. Really no excuse for a 12 year old to do that
So, are you saying that if I paint my face black, regardless of the circumstances, reasoning, and my unnarrated actions, it is inherently racist? I have to strongly disagree.
Honestly, not saying that Sephora is an 18+ store, but I don't think kids under the age of 15-16 should be in that shop. The "skincare smoothies" just proves that they are still immature children (they're pretty similar to how we made "potions" with soap and shampoo when we were kids, just it's now retinol and expensive skincare they don't need!)
As a 14 year old this kind of behaviour makes my blood boil. These kids aren't babies they are old enough to know how to act properly, and it makes me sick knowing that their mothers are encouraging and defending this awful behaviour.
As a 13 year old this makes me sad. Why are kids doing this?? Every time I am in Sephora, I ALWAYS take great care of the testers. If I don't like something I put it back. If I don't see something I want, I ALWAYS ask the employees if they have it in the back or if I can look in the drawers. I buy stuff that is age appropriate, not retinol or heavy foundation. And I would NEVER disrespect a Sephora employee or customer. These kids are giving us a bad rep, and it is embarrassing. They need to stop.
I'm 13 too, the first time I went into Sephora, I was 12, almost 13, but I was with my friend *who is 14* ! I agree, these kids are out of control and they need to stop embarrassing themselves and setting bad rep for the rest of us 13 year olds who actually behave.
She is a 12-14 year old. She had no excuse for her actions. I'm not fucking suprised in the slightest at this anymore. These children's actions are because most of their moms don't care about the stuff they do or discipline their children at all. As I said before,Sephora needs a fucking age limit already or Gen Alpha is doomed. :/
Agreed. It’s because of the parents wantin accessories to post on instagram and TikTok for brand engagement and for product placement and to show off on TikTok
As a middle school/preteen girl this is absolutely embarrassing considering the fact parents can’t take care and set boundaries for their children. And I understand us children have years of growing ahead of us but we are meant to have ENOUGH common sense to not be doing these things. Yes I blame influencers and social media for this but they should understand the difference between jokes and flat out mocking/offending people.
You sound like a lovely young person with something a lot of others don't have - common sense and common courtesy! This was very well said, and young people like yourself gives me a bit more hope for the future. 👏💚🤓🇭🇲
You have a lot of common sense and i just want to tell you that I'm proud of you for not being like these girls. You set the example of what you should be like in public. Keep up the good work.
I’m an Xennial. We learned about the history of blackface and associated slurs in the fifth grade. I’d never even heard of those things before then, but we were taught them in a historical context so we wouldn’t repeat them. These kids grew up on the internet-they knew very well what they were doing. Gross.
I'm 18 and grew up in the South, we were taught about racism and slavery as early as 3rd grade. The fact so many people my age are doing this for clout is trashy...
i bet these teens do know what they're doing, and are just using their age as a pathetic excuse to get away with blatant racism. but even if they didn't, their parents are at least 50% to blame for allowing them to do it or even doing it alongside them; and THEN not even admitting to the fact that they were being horribly racist?? the hell? these kids should know better, AND the parents should be held accountable
This is so revolting, some people don’t deserve to have kids. I can’t believe a fully grown adult would see nothing wrong with this. HOW CAN PEOPLE HAVE NO GODDAMN SHAME?!?!
i was in 4th grade when i was taught about blackface and minstrelsy in school, we were taught about how horrific it was, there is no excuse here. there should be no age limit to learning about racism because there is no age limit to experiencing racism. absolutely vile, the girls are in the wrong but the parents and schooling is doing even worse. i love your channel, you cover these subjects so well
It’s disgusting. We need more diverse tv shows for kids like moon girl and devil dinosaur and they need to have more diversity teachings to kids. This is why we need diverse kids shows. This is a consequence of the accessory baby trend
I was personally never taught about this in school during history class and as you can imagine we do have a racism problem in the country unfortunately, which is pretty shitty.
As a kid from the later years of gen z (2007-2012) I still can't believe that I am still sometimes forced into this age group of Sephora kids their behavior makes me truly disturbed and afraid for the future of this world
hayley i fucking love you for this video. i’m a black woman, and let me tell you that we are SO tired of this bullshit. 2024 and doing blackface… fucking ridiculous, i don’t care how old they are
As a millennial mother, there's no excuse for this behavior. Born '94 but wasn't allowed complete internet access until 2009 but knew before I was 10 or eleven that what these kids are doing is beyond horrible. I would never allow my child in a sephora let alone be okay with them disrespecting POC, the store employees or anyone, PERIOD, for that matter. I'm horrified! Idk how children even know what Sephora is if it's not for being constantly online and/or their own parent being constantly in that store. My parents were abusive, toxic, and racist but the more I think about the waiting until my child is a freshman to have almost complete internet access sounds great to me. I barely let my kid watch TV with me present. This shit is messed up.
Yeah this is messed up. I’m 15, but I’ve seen a lot of young mothers who want to be “cool” so they act like a teen and encourage terrible behavior. I’ve actually never set foot into a Sephora, but this is still so stupid that these children are ruining Sephora for people who are just genuinely trying to shop there.
What's worse is I saw this in Instagram and there were people treating this kid like she was a baby and giving her the "oh she's just a kid" pass. No dude she is over the age of 9 she should know better and her mom should know better
I hate how people treat 12 y/o like they were 5, as a 12 y/o too we arent dumb, at least i think someone as my age should understand that mocking skin colors is offensive and gross, your parents clearly didn’t educate you well. Here in my country sephoras don’t exist, this doesn’t happen, its so disgusting seeing girls my age do this things, u have to be respectful, you are not a 6 y/o so stop acting like you are one.
Not justifying them ruining products but when I was 12 I called my mom a bukkak because I thought it meant meanie.. People just weren't exposed to the internet as much as you and that's okay.. It's the parents fault for not educating their child.
Sephora needs to do what comic stores have done for decades. Customer card. If you're not a customer prices are 50% higher, get a customer card, you pay standard prices. To get a customer card you must give personal details - name, email, AGE with ID. Under the age of 16, you need your parents PERSONAL consent - they have to come in ,in person, to sign. Customer card also allows UNMONITORED access to samples etc. No customer card, security follows you around. Customer card could also be used for loyalty points, online sales, access to exclusive products etc.
Underrated comment and 100% true. This is disrespectful behavior, and your idea is definitely valid in this situation for… pretty much ANY makeup or beauty place, especially Sephora.
this kind of behavior is learnt at home. this is disgusting behavior. i feel like we’re living in a simulation at this point. people fighting to get a stanley cup, kids getting bullied for not having a stanley cup, kids taking over sephora and now these tweens doing blackface. i’m so over the bs that is 2024 and it’s only february.
13 year old here! As someone who doesn’t visit Sephora often. It makes me kinda sad that we have normalized this upon all kids that walk into a Sephora. Every time I walk into Sephora I will get dirty looks and I have even had some people come up to me and say “10 year old Sephora kid” when I’m not ten and just minding my own business but even when I need to ask an employee to help me find a shade match etc I’m always super kind use manners and so on. I have also definitely learned what is right for my skin and don’t go buying drunk elephant and stuff like that. But it makes me really disappointed that people are starting to ruin this for some kids who use manners are kind and don’t play in the testers, who could just be there to get a mascara.
Are you actually serious! They should be matured enough for their own actions?Even a 12yr is NOT A BABY they are literally a preen-Teen. I totally disagree with you cuz animal noises should not be tolerated to their own behaviour.
I would totally get them not knowing what blackface is if they where not American/from an English speaking country, but not only did they know exactly what they were doing, they were also making the animal sounds and being encouraged to do so by their mothers. Just disgusting.

Even if it's not expensive that should still apply to an extent. For the sake of not spreading germs, and not damaging anything and costing the company unnecessary money.
This is why I think congress needs to pass a law that requires kids nationwide to learn about the Jim Crow era. Honestly something has to be done to keep this behavior from happening

A little while ago (a month or two) my family and I went to a mall to pick up a last minute birthday gift. There was a lush so we stopped in to find something there, but it was right next to a Sephora. The Sephora kids started infiltrating the lush, and using all of the testers, EVEN THE HAIR MASKS while yelling at employees.
Wow! I`m in the Uk and we don`t have a Sephora in my sleepy little seaside town. However ,staff at lush are well trained and taught to politely ask people who repeatedly touch things clearly marked ,to leave! A couple of good security guards might make these kids rethink.
This is why im so scared to have kids. Im already worried about m own mental health , good lord, i was mainly raised on the internet . Im so afraid my kids might come out like this . This is just sad, and i barely wear makeup .[ I wear it once or twice, but all i really do is just wear lipstick/lipgloss ] I may be a trendhopper but omg. Atleast i dont hop on trends that are beyond stupid. This breaks my heart 💔
Sadly I doubt the consequences will go that far if she's only 12 now. By the time those kids are around 18 and start applying to jobs/colleges, this video will likely be long forgotten. So instead we just have to hope those kids aren't racist nuisances like their mothers, when they grow up.

Honestly, not saying that Sephora is an 18+ store, but I don't think kids under the age of 15-16 should be in that shop. As a 13 year old this makes me sad. Why are kids doing this?? Every time I am in Sephora, I ALWAYS take great care of the testers. If I don't like something I put it back. I would never allow my child in a sephora let alone be okay with them disrespecting POC, the store employees or anyone, PERIOD, for that matter. I'm horrified! Idk how children even know what Sephora is if it's not for being constantly online and/or their own parent being constantly in that store.

I feel lucky because where I am, the kids are actually respectful and they don't ruin testers. BUT WHO RAISED THESE KIDS, AND HOW DO THEY SEE THIS AS ACCEPTABLE?
it’s not even just Sephora at this point, sadly, it’s malls in general. you really don’t realize how bad it is until you go out and see it for yourself.
Soon, People will wear WW2 German Uniforms and Making fun of a lot of members who perished in WW2
Don’t kids do that in like, Roblox?
Yea ive seen people do similar things dressing up as hitler :')@@TheGreatPotato652
@@DestinySantini07it's really sad bc people think it's funny 😐
Don’t worry they are just edgy, acoustic, teenagers
And they don't do that anymore?
some people are not well in the head, im talking about the ones brushing this off
i didn’t even go to mecca until i was FOURTEEN, it was my first time in. i went to my first sephora after moving to the US at seventeen. even then i felt young. how do these kids actually do this?
Imagine raising your kid and them turning out like this 😭😭💀 (edit) Low key I would've disowned them already if this happened to me 💀
FRRRR😭😭😭
they didn’t raise their kids closely enough clearly
Maybe they didn't raise they kids well enough then. Just a thought
@ville__idc bro
i think these parents DO imagine their kids turning out like this. that mom was proud/thought it was hilarious
Sephora should card people like a bar would tbh
Someone should start a petition to have sephora bring back their policy where minors under 16 weren't allowed in the store.
They had that rule? They should bring it back!
That’s so stupid that their parents aren’t smart enough to punish their kids.
I’m twelve years old and I’m very sorry for their behavior I would never ever act like this because my parents raised me better I don’t blame these kids I blame the parents that don’t know how to parent their children I hope this trend ends soon it’s honestly getting to the point where it’s sickening 😢
As someone from the Boston area, we do not want to claim these children. Most of us aren't like this
Don't worry there not from Boston
It’s all about parenting… Please don’t neglect them and let them raise by internet. 😭
Such a true statement.I find it so sad watching mothers "quieten" their children on buses/trains or in a drs surgery by giving them a tablet or phone.Babies who can`t even READ yet ,but they`re being brain washed by social media. :(
@@Joy-qw3wm and these are the same parents, who whine online if let's say, Megan Thee Stallion shakes her butt in award show which is themed for adults... Dear parents, Internet and celebrities have no obligation to raise your kids. You choose to have those kids now parent....
@@hipsterracoon2159 yes ,exactly!!
And during Black History Month tooo
I'd love to see the reaction of these kids if Sephora comes out with an 18+ age limit lol
Preach sister! Everything you said is true!
