THIS Ronaldo (96'-97' season in Barsa) was the best player I' ve ever seen. Sadly, the guy stayed at that level only one and a half year, because of his injuries. R9 from WC 2002 and from Madrid was only at 60% or 70% of his true level. People usually remember R9 from 2002 and Madrid, that's why he is a bit underrated.

As someone who started watching football around '94, I had the privilege of watching Ronaldo in his prime. Today, there are no players who can do what he does. To illustrate that, look at #3 and #1 on the list. There are many speedy players playing today. There are also many skillful footballers during this era. There are also some very strong dudes. However, not one can marry all the three qualities. Bale can certainly score by outrunning his opponent. However, he doesn't have the skill to start #1. That sort of ability is not in his repertoire. Walcott is probably as fast as Ronaldo when it comes to running without the ball. But, he's very slow compared to the Brazilian when running with a football. If you notice, Ronaldo's touches are all measured. He doesn't necessarily keep the ball close to his feet like a Messi, but it's only because he could outrun all his markers. What an amazing player! As a Brazil fan, after watching such a video, I become more realistic. I tend to get bummed out when a promising Brazilian player fails to be 50% as good as Ronado, but the reality is that the guy wasn't human. PS: Ronaldo was also a very honest player; he refused to go down unless he was actually fouled. #1 is a goal Neymar would have never scored. As soon as someone pulls his shirt, he stops playing--even if the ref fails to blow the whistle.
