My favorite song on this album is "Frayed Ends of Sanity", and it just sounds even more fkn dope in down tuning! Especially the intro 🤙🏻 Oh man, I just got to the pre-chorus and chorus 🤘🏻🤘🏻

It still sounds good today. Then drop d ...wow! I don't know why Metallica never repeated what they did on this album
They never repeated this album because they don't like playing the songs live. They're too long and have too many parts. It's the same reason why they don't play anything off of Death Magnetic live. Certain people in the band are too lazy for songs like That Was Just Your Life or All Nightmare Long. The Black Album happened precisely because Lars didn't want to practice the drums and James wanted to do something different after literally 10 years of shoving 9 different riffs into every song.
This album was my first metal album when I was a kid made me pick up the guitar and is still my one of my favorite metal albums. This shit wrecks🤘. Thanks for giving it new life. It goes even harder now.
I remember when korn did one for the Icon show. Korn tunes down a whole step and I like there version a lot because of the timber that added. I like this as well
This is so righteous! It's made this album new again for me. Can you also clean up dirty-sounding albums? I would love to hear "Sky Valley" or "... And the Circus Leaves Town" by Kyuss, with the vocals and cymbals brought above the muck and unwrapped from the dirty gym socks it sounds like they're wrapped in, so it actually sounds live-ish. The sounds are there, I'm just tired of having to adjust my EQ every time I want to listen to them. But whatever, do your thing, it's a great service for the human race.
The problem with trying to add the bass back into the original mix is that the guitars already have a shitload of low end to compensate for the lack of bass! Turns to mush very quickly
Awesome The Shortest Straw sounds great in this tunning... too bad Metallica killed the bass here, their style just needs it. One with audible loud bass is crazy good

E Standard. Rust in Peace is all in E standard too I believe.
It's not about tuning, it's about riffs
You can go a long way with the right amp, the right EQ settings and good riffs. But there's definitely a limit to what you can do in E standard.

@@soldadoryanbr7776 Traditional tuning on a 7 string is BEADGbE. Tuning down one whole step makes it ADGCFAD. They played it in A.
