Hello my Bloodborne brethren. We meet again to wash in the stinging reality of our despair together.
We are born by the blood!

- No Bloodborne project announced in nearly a decade from Sony (game came out in 2015)
- Sony lets fans work for years on a way to make the game run at a higher performance on PC.
- Cease & Desist the fan project a few weeks after its finally been finished.

As Smiling Friends said:
"It's MY IP to sit on and do nothing with!"
Sounds like Nintendo when AM2R came out. The day after the game came out, the devs received a cease and desist. Even though this game was known about for a couple of years. And after that cease and desist Nintendo announced their own remake with Metroid Samus Returns. Maybe history is repeating itself.
@@ricardomendoza-oy8mp And how exactly it ended for Nintendo? They just embarassed themselves. Same with Sega going after SoR Remake. It did absolutely nothing but made them to look stupid.
@@ricardomendoza-oy8mp the problem with AM2R is that the solo-dev finally finished it and released it
in a finished state like the MONTH an actual official Metroid 2 remake was to be announced.
and this wasnt the only time, remember Super Mario Battle Royal? gets a C&D, some time a lot later
Super Mario 35, a battle roayle-like Super Mario Bros. game.
one would want to hope this is a pattern with Sony as well and will actually have something
to show for this sudden behavior.
i have no hope, i fully expect this to just be them finally being tired of people asking for them
to give us a GOOD reason to spend money on any of their stuff and are just taking everything
down that reminds people of that thing the people want.
@@ArcRay20 unfortunately, many people don’t understand how game development works. So if a takedown happens and then less than a month later something similar to what got taken down is announced, some people actually think the official trailer and game were cobbled together in that time.

Sony, after Concord you really gotta do something to make people like you.
Makes you wonder if they're doing this just to throw a fit "if concord can't have fans then Bloodborne can't have it's port"
they have no competition lol they dont care
I mean honestly, that is hateful commentary.
Absolutely unwarranted.
Sony gave us 30+ years of gaming. A few hiccups won’t ruin a legacy of greatness and countless hours of fun. Just being real. It is pretty sad how self entitled some of us gamers have become. Very Karen like
companies only care about one thing, and that is money, if Sony is doing nothing good right they deserve to be call out for it.
So that argument of behaving like a "Karen" is bullshit, we've been asking for a Bloodborne PC port since 2015, a remaster since a few years, and some people even wanted a remake, but instead of that we got Concord....
They deserve all of the criticism they're getting right now.@@lightup6751

I mean, Sony doesnt like when people mod their consoles, its not really shocking they would go after the 60fps patch. But the Bloodborne Psx demake? That makes zero sense
The whole point is the mods have been around for A WHILE.. There’s been articles about them, many outlets have talked about them openly, people have played them and it’s never been an issue - yet suddenly now it is? Now, the 30th anniversary year it’s a problem? There’s only a handful of people capable of even playing these mods. They’re taking them down now because they are planning something. Guaranteed.

I agree the PSX Demke thing was really petty from Sony. But did anyone actually expect them to have an unofficial release of their product go out on another platform? I don't think there's a major company going that wouldn't at least look at that let alone take it down
Sure that makes sense.. it's their IP.
Whatever you're doing or releasing, all the buzz around it will derive from its name... that doesn't belong to you. It's that easy.
Sony trynna see if they can be more unfun than Nintendo

Hello, Estelle. It's most obvious with how Nintendo handles community efforts. From fan games to competitive tournaments of games like Smash & Splatoon.
@@leithaziz2716 Nintendo did go and try and sponsor a Splatoon tournament and give like an endgame like banner for the winner, but the winners ended up being racist, assholes and kind of scared Nintendo out of ever trying something like this again.

Hot take: Even if Bloodborne is getting re-released and this is the reason they're doing this, it doesn't justify what they're doing at all. It's a spit on the face of consumers, it's an insult to their ability to love their work and continue supporting it, and express appreciation for it. These actions to 'protect it' is not actually needed to protect it. If they were truly necessary, Doom wouldn't be where it is.
Sony are not your friend. They are a business. When people realize this, we can move forward.
Sony Needs to Make a Remake and we’re not going to Stop Until we get what we want
to play devil's advocate, Doom was explicitly made with you being allowed to make your WADs. But even then, you're not allowed to just remake the official episodes, what stuff like GZDOOM is doing is taking the original WADs and running them through a new framework for the engine, you're still expected by id to buy Doom to use it that way.
@SeruraRenge11 and let's be honest... I'd is own by Bethesda and Bethesda owes there entire life blood on modders and such...not only to keep there ip relevant bit to fix there games....
Even then there was a time when Bethesda went after modders. Or misused em
“Consumers” deserve whatever they get. Buyers and players though, really are the reason the fandom is going strong.
It can only be coincidence so much, at some point, it becomes a sign, a hunter's sign, beckoning from a familiar world we thought only existed in our dreams.

On one hand, I'd love to finally be able to play Bloodborne on PC, even if it means I have to give Sony my money. On the other hand, remind me how long it's been since Sony did anything with Bloodborne that wasn't just a reference or a cameo like in Astro Bot? A literal decade or so? And now they're striking down passion projects that existed bc they couldn't be bothered to do anything with the game for a literal DECADE? By the Emperor/Gods/everything that is holy, this is stupid.
And the Astro Bot cameo was the most love the game's gotten in years, and that was from a completely different studio that wanted to throw that love Bloodborne's way.
I fully believe Sony didn't care if they included the references or not.

Another day another reason why Sony hates their own customers for buying their stuff
Max's expression in the thumbnail with Bloodborne in the title sure caught my attention lol
When I'm in a making fans hate me competition and my opponents are Sony and Nintendo:
I have absolutely zero faith in any AAA company nowadays. It's just a dragon and their hoard at this point. They don't want fans producing fan works or derivatives because they can't directly profit off of it in their eyes.
"Why would Sony be trying to protect this now"
Sony has lost $$$ on several films, live service games, and acquired multiple studios. They are def looking to cut corners in everyway they can. Get ready for worst timeline sony going forward.
Even if they didn't have those failures they'd still take this thing down.
Hopefully, this means something Bloodborne is coming soon as usually these takedowns mean the company is about to release something.
If they're moving at the same speed as Warner Bros, it'll release 2-3 years from now.
Knowing Sony, it'll be another clip show with some footage of Bloodborne playing behind some platitudes.
It literally just could be the lawyers finally deciding to take care of small tasks such as protecting the IP of Bloodborne as their current weeks tasks. Don't extrapolate too much from these actions.
at this day and age? when the game is pretty much 90% accurate on emulation? feels too much of a deliberate action rather than a coincidence
@@o_sagui6583they cant really do much against the emulation
@@o_sagui6583it really doesn't matter why. It's ultimately their IP that they paid for. Unless the IP rights timed out or someone purchased it, no one else can use it.
Love that VA-11 HALL-A ost in the back!
While not explicitly stated as a "legal obligation" in most jurisdictions, when you own intellectual property (IP), you are generally considered to have a responsibility to actively defend it against infringement if you wish to maintain your exclusive rights to use it; meaning, if someone is using your IP without permission, you have the legal standing to take action to stop them through lawsuits or other means to protect your rights.
Key points to remember:
No mandatory defense:
While you are not legally forced to pursue every instance of IP infringement, failing to take action against significant violations can weaken your claim to the IP and potentially allow others to use it freely.
yes and taking down fan projects leads to my not buying their consoles.
Wait you'd rather play a modded fan project than the actual game? Lmao sounds like you're ot actually a fan of the product then!
Following the rules doesn't automatically make you a good or inspiriational individual. It's WHY you choose to follow them that holds value, as it informs your morals.

MML3, Mother 3 and Silksong fans:
First time?
F-Zero fans: *Long, sorrowful glance*
Remember when Nintendo DMCAd AM2R? I really hope Sony follows through with this and isn't just fucking with the fanbase.
Yeah, but Nintendo has also shut down multiple fan projects for no other reason than they could. Most times there isn't a good reason for these corporations to shut down fan work other than they own the IP.
@ In their defense, Metroid wasn't a 10-year vacant IP at the time. and I don't conflate their legal team with the game developers.
They do hate the fans. Buuuuuuut they like our money.
Worst case scenario: Sony took down all the Bloodborne mods/pages because legally Sony needs to protect their IP, or else they risk losing the Bloodborne IP by not protecting it. This all doesn't mean they're interested in doing anything with the IP, just that they want to retain ownership. Of course hopefully this all means Sony will actually do something with it, but their track record would say otherwise.
Now they have to at this point
Sony would rather remind people that they own these things people love rather than let anyone enjoy them outside of the bare minimum.
Bootlicker
This is not how the law works.
@@NanomachineExE Well with IP law in the U.S. that is the case at least. If you let people start using your IP any way they want without permission and you don't do anything about it, the law essentially looks at that as you giving up your rights to the IP.
Not surprising.. if they don’t do anything at all for bloodbornes anniversary this year like.. they are taking the piss.
Nintendo defends IP = Hateful and out of Touch
Sony defends IP = They love you and are good guys
Sony should take down some notes
These studios never have & never will understand gamers
Nah, they understand GAMERStm. I think you mean they don't understand good games or the people who want to play them.
Ill tell you why, Sony wants us to forget. Bloodborne was the only reason Sony was able to survive the early days of the ps4s lifespan and it was mainly made by a company that didn’t work directly under Sony. They want us to focus on their other exclusives made by companies that work directly for them like Horizon, God of War, and Spiderman.
And those games, while really pretty, are kind of average...and really watered down "gaming experiences."
Sony’s taking notes from Nintendo 🤣
They've been doing that since 1989
Mimicking Nintendo is kinda their thing.
In these situations regarding mods of exclusives onto other platforms, yes Nintendo and Sony are always in the right
Sony hasn't done jack with bloodborne
Hey now, that's not entirely true... They've used it to tease and bait the fanbase and then squash their hopes and dreams for the last decade.
*"Nooo, stop using the IP for what it was made for! Its supposed to be locked away to cut costs and used for leverage when investing!"*
"No, they can't make a Bloodborne fan game. It's MY IP to sit on and do nothing with!"
Leverage?

Oh, Smiling Friends.
Okay, after the title changed like, four times, I'll watch him talk about what I already saw on stream 😂
If the remaster/remake is not coming this year, It'll never come. I might be ready to leave the copium.
The literal EASIEST thing sony could do is make a pc release for Bloodborne, but knowing Sony they're probaby gonna self frenzy themselves and shit the bed
PC releases are NEVER easy. A lot of changes, especially when a lot of stuff is locked onto the framerate, and I'd bet, this is the case with Bloodborne.
Didn't Max just spend like a week complaining about how horrible the PC version of FF7R is? I'm guessing it's not so easy.
I remember when Nintendo did the same thing with AM2R, throwing down a C&D as they were about to release their own remake of Metroid 2, so the logic is sound. I just kinda wish they didn't feel like they had to. It really is unfortunate, as I believe these fan creations can exist along with the official ones without threatening each other, but because companies feel like their IPs are so precious and copyright laws are a mess, they feel they have to come down on these fans.
I think it has more to do with the fact that they don't like having competition for their own products. If you let people make their own projects based off your creations, there is a very real chance that eventually ,those projects will surpass the authentic ones. That's why garbage like these new Pokemon games can come out the way they do and STILL sell in the millions.
Because Nintendo knows that if the ONLY way you can ever even really see or interact with their specific property is through them, then the quality of it all becomes second fiddle, because its them or nothing.
I am confident that none of these things are ever going to happen.
Certainly this isn't a hail-mary after Sony's multiple bombs the past couple years. CERTAINLY.
This could be a similar situation to AM2R, where nintendo took down remakes of Metroid 2 because they had an announcement of the actual remake on 3DS like a couple of weeks after, lets hope it's the case because ...a hoonter must hoont...
fuck, I hate all these triple a companies
That's why you should invest your time in steam and other PC indie games that give more attention to games you may love.

Yeah this behavior is possibly hinting at them releasing something themselve, otherwise why go through all this effort.
Ten years release incoming
This is exactly the and sent as the Copium Nintendo fans are continually sniffing
They could just be doing it to flex their ownership of the IP like assholes. They're legally in their right to do whatever they want with it, and they've proven time and time again that they don't want anyone doing anything with it.
The funny part is that over the years Sony has shown themselves to be both petty and incompetent enough that it's just as likely they're doing this just because they can
I don’t know why any company would hate mods cause the people who usually do mods do it for the love of the game itself for free!!! Keeps people playing and shows talented people who should be hired. SMH!!!
I know there are some legal concerns with some mods, but as long as mods aren't sold for monetary gain there shouldn't be an issue. The rampant anti-mod stance from these big corporations is just petty.
Aight, so anyone working on any kind of Bloodborne fan project just needs to keep their mouths shut about it so Sony doesn't get the chance to shut it down before anyone can get their hands on it.
Don't let them know you're playing with their toy that they don't want anyone playing with.
Gotta love when a company HATES when someone does their job better. Instead of giving them a job they decide to threaten lawsuits and destroy their work.
Good God, WHAT does Sony have against Bloodborne?? They genuinely despise that title, wow lol
I wish I had archived it, but I remember reading an interview with a producer at Sony Interactive. And when asked about Bloodborne they politely yet firmly said it was out of their hands because it was Miyazaki's brain child and passion project. So they didn't want to do anything Bloodborne related without his input. But at the same time, Miyazaki has been busy post Bloodborne. So the parties necessary to do anything never aligned.
Coincidentally, post Elden Ring Miyazaki has said they're using the new time to work on something big. And Nightreign is being directed and handled by other staff so that he's free to work on the big project. Similar to when he worked on Bloodborne and the younger staff took on Dark Souls 2.
"Hey bro, here are your 10th anniversary wallpapers and console themes"
I'm very sad that this game is under the 3 game devil's deal From Soft had with Sony because it's completely out of From Soft's power and completely a Sony thing, I just hope that yes this means that they want to do something with the IP again and not just take down a bunch of mods for a game that's multiple years old for no reason and they won't bring to any platform other than PlayStation
I called this last year > Bloodborne remake/remaster will be a launch PS6 title, with it possibly being on the PS5 pro as well.
10 year anniversary + they targeted mods = they have something cooking that is almost ready.
The sad part is that the official re.ake may not match the quality of the mod.

Max Goatse with a Chicken due to Bloodborne was not on my 2025 Bingo Card
You’ll get your remake when we fix this damn door! (Bell Guardians door still doesn’t open from either side.) -Sony
I'm gonna say this because it reach to the point that I'm tired with Sony b.s.
If we can't get a good game or let alone a proper sequel (because it's already written on the wall) then we might as well get a remake.
But even a remake feels like a let down because guess what. They release a remake of a game that was around three years ago. THREE YEARS AGO!
Even worse, a current remake of Bloodborne made in house by Sony, would not even reach HALF of the potential that the game could have via emulation and mods, it would just be a Dark Souls 1 Remastered situation all over again . . .
First this and now psn is down during the weekend when the MHW beta is out. Come on Sony. Do better
With Sony taking these mods down, it makes me wonder if they’re releasing some low-effort shovelware and branding it as a Definitive Edition.
Love that this started happening a couple days after I gave up on waiting for a PS5 upgrade and finally bought the game
I bet they just want the fan version out because they plan to launch their own upscaled remaster with 60 fps and dont want the free alternative to exist.
And they are doing the remaster because they are planning to announce a sequel. Probably this year. Maybe even next week with State of Play possibly coming up.
I wonder if this asspull comment will age well.
It's going to be a movie or a series, there's no way they'll drop the bomb
Companies protect everything with no intent to use it as they could still sell the IP and make money if someone wants to buy it. This is just them showing they are defending the IP and they don’t care so much about winning court cases but holding on to the official rights of the IP.
Sony: Curse the modders, their children too. And their children, forever true
Everything that’s happening with this game now… I don’t know if I’ll actually feel anything if they even do SOMETHING substantial with it. The copium has made me too numb to care anymore
I'm always amazed by how wise Max's point of view always is. "They don't hate fans... they are probably PROTECTING it".
The notion that Sony cannot hate fan creations while protecting its IP is one that is in denial of yet another company's abuse toward what should be a fully-protected form of expression, especially since fan-fiction and fan-art are so prevalent.
“Bloodborne franchise” Dude, it was one game.
The only way Sony will be forgiven in most people’s eyes, is if they’re releasing an actual Bloodborne port and or remaster, that is very performant. If it’s just up rezzed and uncapped framerate with poor pacing people are not gonna be happy
Imagine Bloodborne remaster, with a hidden VR option
I get what your saying max, but sony doesn't care one bit about bloodbourn, nor its fans. The only reason they're going after fan projects because it hits there bottom line, thats really it. There will never be a any remaster or sequel to bloodbourn.
I've never played Bloodborne or any souls like games. But perhaps this is a sign Sony is finally gonna do a upgrade/remaster/remake of the game that I keep seeing so many people desperately want🤔

I swear if they try to say "We been making a Bloodborne remaster for the past five years but it had to be under hush hush." I would still emulate the PS4 version of Bloodborne, jumping through hoops, and hurdles to find the PS4 ISO disk keys to play it.

Im sure if i reuploaded all of your old videos up through 2022 on an new channel and named the channel Maximillian Dood 2, without your permission and better editing/effects, you'd try to take that channel down as well. Its really that simple. Doesn't really require such a long video to explain.
Just give it to us, Sony! We'll buy it, we'll all buy it!
Can you imagine on the 10th anniversary they announce Bloodborne remake by BluePoint and...wait..."we still have another surprise...BloodBorne 2!!" I would buy a PS5 Pro just for those 2 games.
"Bloodborne remake by BluePoint"
No, thanks. Just port the original.
It’s their property. If you want a public domain game, make your own.
I honestly think Sony is taking down those videos/mods because it's actually getting real. Like you said the progress over the last few months is so damn impressive and this will make Sony look bad and lazy and they don't want that so I don't believe there will be anything new for bloodborne. It's just Sony trying save its image
Son, or some would say, Sony... do you hear our prayers?
why they care about a game thats from 2015? either they are making a remaster of it, or they literally do it because of the notorius EGO that makes them super disconnected from their fans
It’s a shame there isn’t oversight for shareholders and their lapdog executives.
