People forget how big a star Adam Ant was in the early 80s. When you had to sell singles and albums by the hundreds of thousands to get in the top ten. People had to go out and buy em. Ants videos were always great too. Avant garde and cinematic. Even in that new wave, post punk, new romantic, electric nor era...he was unique. Lyrics with historical and socio political resonance too.
So true, he was excellent, remember I was only 20 and turned on top of the pops one night and seen him and I nearly dropped, he’s was gorgeous and what a dancer
Actually a savvy PR move on Adams part considering he was also offered a guest spot on Morecambe & Wise but shrewdly chose this instead based on its slightly higher TV ratings...😉
To me Adam was and still is the mist important and iconic person that there ever was in the music business. He makes other people look like plumbers. Even taught Michael Jackson to dress.. Jackson repaid him with getting him on the Motown 25 special. And when they didnt want him, Michael Jackson said.. Adam Ant does Motown 25 or im walking.. So thats how that came to be.. 😎
I clicked here for Adam Ant, one of my heroes, and found myself laughing to Bobby Ball, he created a great character, love it when he starts getting wound up!
I remember Adam Ant said in an inteview with the ITV Kids´mag Look In that he was a great fan of Cannon and Ball. Good to see that Adam Ant was up for a laugh.
I saw him a few years ago, he sounded fab, but was a fair bit heavier. But I saw some recent footage and it looks like he has lost quite a bit of weight ❤❤❤
I loved this video when I saw it over four years ago and I couldn't find it for the last four years till now it was randomly on my suggestions while watching an Adam Ant Music Video. I can't tell you how happy it made me.
So funny! I wish we had seen all these TV performances in America of British music stars in the 80s! So much of the phenomenons we missed out on. I don't know why didn't didn't come on American TV a lot.
Yes true but its good we can all see them now though, I know it's just not the same as seeing them back in the day, but then Britain didn't get to see all that David Bowie did at the time of Young Americans I guess.
He sure is!😊 Always has been, always will be (as far as I'm concerned) He's got that "certain SOMETHING" & MORE! ...the inner AND the outer combined...💥‼️😊💖
those were great days back then...comedy was great and the music stars were too....brings tears to my eyes . miss those days today everything is horrible
I remember buying the LP when it first came out (I was 9) and recognising the picture on the back of the sleeve as being from The Cannon and Ball Show! I clicked on this video with the very same LP in hand hoping to spot the exact moment.. (It's at 9:07 when he lifts his right knee!)
Also he said in an interview that Michael Jackson contacted him around this time and said he was a fan and asked him where he got his jacket from. You can see something in his Goody Two Shoes performance that looks like what Michael Jackson started doing several months later.
@@admiralackbar9307 no I don't agree. Micheal was dancing at 4 years old, don't forget, in public by 6. Both were amazing, both had a style that was popular at the time. No need to dis one great artist. Both were superb and came from impoverished backgrounds; but very different cultures.
Adam Ant is really funny! You can see what a good dancer and actor he is and his comedic sense. It's a shame he didn't really dance more than he did. He probably would have been capable of what George Michael was so far as dancing goes.
He always reminds me of the actor who had to hack his foot off in the first Mad Max film when he would be seen without make up back then. Did he grow up in dance classes?
wildrose1207 Thank you. :-) Do you know if he was considered a good actor at any point? I was surprised when I heard he started trying to act after the Vive Le Rock album didn't do well because I don't remember hearing anything about him here in America in movies or any acting roles.
J R well he first acted in the Derek Jarman film “Jubilee” in the late 70s, he didn’t have a lead role but he was ok. The only other thing I’ve seen him in was an episode of The Equaliser and again, he was ok. So maybe he was amazing in his other roles, I do vaguely remember him getting good reviews in Sloane... (sorry for the late reply, notifications are off)

started in the 70s I don't know who you hang about with but nobody here "forgets" 😂
Love the fact Adam Ant is up for it and doesn't take himself seriously. Top chap.
Actually a savvy PR move on Adams part considering he was also offered a guest spot on Morecambe & Wise but shrewdly chose this instead based on its slightly higher TV ratings...😉
was Morecambe & Wise more respected ?
If you pause the video when he lifts his right knee at 9:07, that's the exact shot that was used for the back cover of the Friend or Foe album.

Adam was and always will be one of the greats. So fit, creative and awesome
I clicked here for Adam Ant, one of my heroes, and found myself laughing to Bobby Ball, he created a great character, love it when he starts getting wound up!
Adam Ant playing his part better than any pop star crossover I've ever seen !
Pure class, Adam Ant was my hero...still is...couldn't beat Cannon & Ball either!

I remember Adam Ant said in an inteview with the ITV Kids´mag Look In that he was a great fan of Cannon and Ball. Good to see that Adam Ant was up for a laugh.
He had so much energy! Still does from what I hear. Gorgeous man! I've never heard of Cannon and Ball but they're pretty funny!
watched Adam a few weeks ago in Manchester, 68 in November and still looks and moves like a man in his 20's! incredible man.
I saw him a few years ago, he sounded fab, but was a fair bit heavier. But I saw some recent footage and it looks like he has lost quite a bit of weight ❤❤❤

A still from Adam's performance was used as the cover picture for his Friend or Foe album.
And also the front cover of the Friend Or Foe single.
I was wondering about that.
I remember buying the LP when it first came out (I was 9) and recognising the picture on the back of the sleeve as being from The Cannon and Ball Show!

He was working so hard to escape his depression. But still made impressive things happen!
Also he said in an interview that Michael Jackson contacted him around this time and said he was a fan and asked him where he got his jacket from. You can see something in his Goody Two Shoes performance that looks like what Michael Jackson started doing several months later.
Michael Jackson just copied and stole stuff from everyone else, Adam Ant was so much more talented then Jacko anyway,
Yeah! In “Mad World” he said he gave him the exact address of the place where he got the Hussars jacket.

If Adam was on Strictly come dancing,, it would be 4x 10 every time,,,, subtle innuendoes follow xxx
Remember watching it love adam ant, forgot how funny thus sketch was rip bobby
If anyone was meant to be a performer, it was him for sure!
The Three Caballeros was great!
He moved like a 🐱 I need 1000cc's of his energy - STAT!
magnificent. used to really love Cannon and Ball. so cheesy. shame he didn't get to do a sketch with Morecambe and Wise, can you imagine?
Isn't this the set used for his FOF album cover photography?
come on! tv doesn't get any better!!!
"I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order."
Hard to believe short little Adam is taller than these guys.
Is everyone grown shorter in the UK?
He's a good sport.
Adam is like a Billy Crystal/Vince Noir hybrid!
😂🤣...in the BEST kinda' way!,
Did Adam Ant ever do any stage acting or was it just film and tv?
J R he was in Entertaining Mr Sloane at the Royal Exchange in Manchester in 85 (ish?)
