Substrate doesn't need to be pasteurized, unless you're using compost or some other nutrient rich substrate. For most cubes for example, straight up coir is just fine and doesn't need to be pasteurized.

Haha! I thought I was being all professional about it too. Sweet irony. I had started getting better results after I started pasteurizing but it was probably some other variable I hadn't accounted for. Well shit. Thanks for the tip.

@The Eye-Rollers Guide to the Galaxy keep pasteurising..... I keep hearing you don't have too...... I tried not doing it and started getting all kinds of Tams..... went back to pasteurising it and been good...... I guess some people get lucky without but wasn't working for me

This isn't true at all. You do need to pasteurize. You have less of a chance of contamination with nutrient poor substrates like coir for sure. but it doesn't matter the breed of mushroom, they are all susceptible to contamination. Don't spread fake information please. This hobby is hard enough for beginners as it is. Your anecdotal accounts don't count as evidence.

Hey man, so glad to have you drop by and thanks for the advice. It took me a sec to realize it but one the first WBS vids I ever saw was yours. Back when YT was still the wild west of cultivation. I got lucky and started up before all the channels got shut down. Keep up the good work Homie.

No, this is exactly what you have to do to be successful.

Brother, that is not high temp plastic. How do you know that you’re not intruding carcinogenic compounds to your sub by heating up this oil product to 150 degrees? I would never due this due to the fact that these people used hydro carbon based dyes that in their plastics that have been shown to be carcinogenic. Those totes are made for this brother, you should use glass or metal.
