Two weekends ago, I had the honor of meeting Ms. Crawford at the Marble Bar in Detroit. The DJ was spinning records from the collection of an Englishman named Phil Dick. (Yeah, that's his real name!) She is looking great and was getting down. Just 14 years old when she started coming up in the scene, Carolyn is still going strong at age 70.
Oh my GOD!!! Ms Carolyn Crawford sounds awesome!!!!! Wow! I got turned on to her some 40 years ago when she made the album MY NAME IS CAROLYN. Then I read she sang for Motown at one time and wow those songs were great. Love her.
While lesser known than labelmates, Ms Carolyn stands tall in Pop music history. The original recording is phenomenal, even more amazing was her age when she got her Motown contract.
