Well...guess I'm another one come-over-to-this-side from The Kneady Homesteader's YT channel! Ha ha! I love canning and am always ready to learn new stuff. Right now, up here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it is brrrrr....cold! We had about 10" of snow in the past few hours...more on the way...and a lot is shut down...including the schools. I've learned to always be prepared and during these times...it's come in handy. We've had a garden in our back yard for over 50 years now...and I am always looking for new things to try to can, freeze or dehydrate! This Christmas jam recipe comes at the perfect time. Christmas is upon us! I'll be packing up a bunch of stuff to send to our 4 married kids...and our 5 of married grandchildren for gifts! We have 11 grandchildren, but 5 are adults who are married! This jam will be well loved, I'm sure! Thanks. And I am a new subscriber of your channel. Heather is right when she says you are a sweet, precious soul.

Hello! I always make Cranberry and Orange relish every Christmas with enough to last me the whole year! I use whole fresh cranberries, sugar, pure orange juice and shreds of fresh peeled oranges. A little grated ginger, some mixed spice and a good dash of port!

I love your way of explaining things and your sweet stories. I have a question about the deflector: I never knew what that was and I’m not sure what it’s purpose is. Could you elaborate?

The deflector plate is a piece that comes with the water bath canner... you lay it up on top of the jars. It keeps the water from popping out while it is boiling.....without it... it is a constant bubble out of steam and water from under the lid. I hope this helps. We do a cranberry jalapeno jam, delish, use cider vinegar in it also has a lovely taste, with a bit of a bite. I did not see in the video what you use for pectin, just that you bring it back to a boil for 2 minutes.
Henry Cooks I’m sorry. It does take one box of sure jel. I guess i edited that clip out i knowingly. (I made the jalapeño jam....video will be up soon. )😀😀

Looks good. What food processor do you have? People don’t seem to gather at the holidays like they did when I was younger. There’s the Black Friday on thanksgiving day. Bolt your food down so. You can go to the Black Friday sales. It’s not sit, eat and visit with family and or friends on thanksgiving. ( stupid in my opinion ).
Debbie altman mine is a Cuisinart. You’re right....holidays don’t seem to matter anymore. It’s sad. I don’t shop Black Friday. Things are so different than when I was a child, or, even raising my kids.
Apron strings that’s right, things are so different now days. Not like it was when I was growing up where if you did not work holidays then you ate holiday meals together as a family. No Black Friday when I was younger. I was born in 1963.
You heat your berries....put the sure jell in....get it to boiling...add sugar....There is a recipe card at the end stating how much....I follow the directions on the sure jell insert.... Thank you for watching.

I have Staub enamel coated cast iron pans. and la creuset. I watch mark downs and sales.....they are too expensive full price.

Debbie altman mine is a Cuisinart. You’re right....holidays don’t seem to matter anymore. It’s sad. I don’t shop Black Friday. Things are so different than when I was a child, or, even raising my kids.
Apron strings that’s right, things are so different now days. Not like it was when I was growing up where if you did not work holidays then you ate holiday meals together as a family. No Black Friday when I was younger. I was born in 1963.

You add it to the berries and bring to a boil that cant be stirred down. Add sugar....bring back to a boil.....boil 1 min then jar it up!!

Question. I'm canning up cranberry juice - can I use the pulp from the cranberries for this or would that not work?

You heat your berries....put the sure jell in....get it to boiling...add sugar....There is a recipe card at the end stating how much....I follow the directions on the sure jell insert.... Thank you for watching.
