  • Welcome back to Speed Street everyone! Bit of a crazy last seven days or so. The podcast went up a bit late this week due to a lot of activities at Travis Pastrana's, Pastranaland! Hopefully you all enjoy the stories from there and the crazy weekend of racing I had in some not so common race vehicles. Really pumped to have finally done my first backflip into a foam pit on a dirt bike! You'll hear all about that.
    We also take a look at a lot of Indycar news that happened this week! Big news yet again from the Mclaren Indycar team regarding their future drivers. Also a bit of a look into the Indycar hybrid system that is debuting this weekend at Mid Ohio!
    As always let us know what you think and thanks for listening/watching!

    Feel better soon! You’re working so a delayed podcast is perfectly fine! Please continue to update us on your driving experiences, no apologies needed. Love the show as always. Hope to see you Saturday - hopefully something great will happen to see you in an IndyCar this weekend. (IMHO Derek would be a great guest)

    love this podcast, as a former FA driver I have seen Indycar drivers as gods and have been watching fanatically since mid 80's when I drove. Mclaren and Indycar are missing the fact that us fans are also key stakeholders. Both indycar and Mclaren don't seem to understand that, you can always see that. One other question I've always wondered and Conor you have great insight on this, Are FA between F2 and F3 performance wise?

      formula atlantic? like the champ car atlantics from back in the day? I dont really know much about those cars because I never got to drive them. But they were better cars than the old indy lights cars. The F3 and F2 cars I drove though were pretty impressive. F3 didnt have as much power or downforce as the most recent atlantics but F2 or GP2 when I drove were almost as fast as indycars. really great cars

    Can the hybrid be used for fuel saving? For example, can the driver ask for full power from the electric motor but maybe half power from the gas engine? Or is the electric motor only deployed on top of full engine power? Also, if the hybrid can be used for fuel saving, how do we keep it a secret from Scott Dixon?

    • @ConorDaly22
      @ConorDaly22  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only advantage I could see is being able to go a bit quicker while fuel saving as the electric energy wouldn’t ask more from the combustion engine

    Know what's crazy? Arrow McLaren can fire drivers, apparently at will, but when a driver (Palou) changes his mind, they sue. On Off Track Rossi said he wasn't going to continue because they couldn't find "common ground" which makes me think Rossi couldn't get the $$ he wanted. I feel for the Arrow McLaren content people who can't keep up with driver changes.

    The silliest of silly seasons, but given McLaren’s proven track record with multiple drivers, I don’t blame Rossi a bit for not budging during negotiations. He very easily could have been dumped after the start of the ‘25 season, and then he would have been in a much worse position. I’m curious to see if the #15 seat opens up and that could be a possible landing spot for him.
    All of your events with Channel 199 sounds interesting. I’m anxious to check that all out. Congratulations on the successful backflip as well!

    Hey Conor, I have a question!
    I’m not sure if you’ve been asked this before, but if FOX Sports gave you an offer for a position (whether it’s pit road reporter or on the booth or wherever for IndyCar on FOX), would you accept the offer?
    Cuz you have some reporting experience and you do a good job! Even the podcast as well! Just wanted to ask cuz I’m curious. Thanks!
    Happy Birthday, America!

    If you find time to read (ha!), The Ghosts of Jungle Park by Tom Williams is a cool book about Jungle Park track near Rockville. It's a lot of the racing history in Indiana and mentions some of the drivers you've had as the Rick Treadway Random Driver of the Week.

    It kinda puzzles me why Prema would join IndyCar now. Everyone else has such a head start experience wise with the current car, it's gonna be very hard to catch up. I would've thought they would dabble a couple of years in IndyNxt to get acclimated to the US eco system and then join IndyCar on a level playing field whenever they decide to go to a new car. I think they need the two most experienced drivers to compensate for that lack of experience. I'd go with RHR and heck maybe try and get Seabass out of IMSA. One other experienced driver whose door they should knock on is one Conor Daly... at least that's what I would do.

    • @ConorDaly22
      @ConorDaly22  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think in this current era even RHR and Bourdais would be a stretch. No matter what, it will take them at least a couple years to win races, I could be wrong! But for me, I would have enough experience being with so many teams to see what works and what doesnt. There would just have to be trust to let me help them get up to speed. I think they would obviously trust someone like rossi more because of his credentials!

  • @StalinsPurge
    @StalinsPurge 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Prema would be 2 steps back for Rossi, but the dude has gotta have something up his sleeve. He wouldn’t just dip because of money and not have cards up his sleeve
