- We carry on working on the 1961 170 Inline Six FORD Mustang / FORD Falcon engine. In part one we removed the seized piston and managed to turn over the engine by hand for the first time in many years. In todays video we teardown the engine to a bare block.
Tearing down the engine to the block reveals many issues which need to be addressed, will this engine ever run again - stay tunned.

I really enjoy your videos on this engine. I encourage to keep taking apart then reassemble as you can. Your sweat equity and time are free. The cast iron straight sixes run despite so much neglect and damage. Best of luck along your way. Try chemical dip cleaning. I'll look for your next video
Hello and I enjoy watching your videos. I do believe that one or two of the head bolts do go into the water jacket. I’m no professional either though. Just picked up a 63 ranchero with a 170 in it , but have 66 falcon 200 that will eventually go in it. 👍
Thanks for the info! 👍
You have a pretty convincing argument to just sell the parts, and turn the rest to scrap metal since the bearings for the cam and the deck are iffy?! You just might make what you've got in it back out. Even if you don't get your time back out of it, your cash money spent may be returned. Good luck.
