There ARE points tallied for in-port race wins. But the in-port race wins are only used as a tiebreaker for the main race. Also; VOR is tallying points in reverse as before. Meaning whatever place a boat finishes will be their points scored and the boat/team with the LEAST total points wins. Since this is the first time they've used only one boat design for the entire fleet the skippers believe this race edition might end up being very close at the end and quite possibly finish with a tie (Or two!).

He said he is definitely taking the in-port races more seriously because not only to provide the host port with an intense race, but more importantly, he believes with this new one-design-boat-for-all racing it just might end up being a very tight finish at the end of the last leg. Apparently some teams aren't taking the in-port races as seriously because they want to conserve their energy for the grueling legs.
Sorry, Niall, you're not a great commentator. VOR production team, PLEASE get some quality commentary on these races! And why is there still no footage from on board ... what on earth are the onboard reporters there for? You had it in 2011 ... why the backward step!?

Is it possible to reef those mains? Ahh SCA reefed their mains, that makes the most sense with those short waves and lots of breeze.
