Hi we also have a stone stomper Have had it on for over 30000km 10000km on dirt roads not a single mark on the car or van Just a couple of things that might help you I removed the small d links and replaced them with a small carabiner Also got rid of the original stone guard and used a steel curtain rod to support the centre Place pipe will break and will be a pain in the ass No when we get to camp just unclip the 2 carabiners and front clips Let it hang off the curtain rod Easy as Stone stomper never comes off unless it’s to clean it
Great video, thank you!! I am about to order a Stone Stomper, to go with my 2018 FX4. I was planning to get the mount that clamps around the hitch, but might actually go the same route you have now, for under my DO35. I noted in the video that you have the FoMoCo towbar and tongue combo, and it also rattles, as did mine. I was advised to get an anti-rattle clamp or a shim set, to correct the infamous slop in the Ford Factory receiver. I opted for the clamp, as it can just be loosened and stay on the tongue shank when I remove it. I got mine from a trailer place in Bundaberg, when I travelled from Toowoomba to Calliope to have my poorly installed suspension fixed by a mate who is one of the R and D guys for the manufacturer. Below is some links for the 2 products, both of which can be found locally to you in Ipswich (I also spied the Bremer Ford plate surround 😂). Removing the slop in the hitch receiver prevents the stretching of the receiver over time, that the factory receiver is unfortunately known for ☹️ This will help reduce/eliminate excess movement that can contribute to porpoising between the van and car. trailerspartsandrepairs.com.au/product/mister-hitches-anti-rattle-shim-kit/ www.roofracksgalore.com.au/mister-hitches-anti-rattle-hitch-bracket-suits-hollow-and-solid-shanks-mharhb-mharhb Happy vanning!
Great feedback Charlie and i'll check out the links. I'm really happy with the mount under the DO35 and works perfect for my setup. My van has a fair bit of ball weight and tends to sit nicely most of the the time (except on a real bumpy track) Cheers
Hi Brad, I had the standard mesh guard that sat on the draw bar with mud flaps hanging off it. The van was still being peppered on the rough stuff. With the Stone Stomper there's pretty much 0 damage now.
Thanks mate I've just fitted ours, trying to work out weather to fit a saddle clamp to chassis as we have the extended draw bar to. Not sure how much trouble it night to access the storage box.
Great video Dennis - much appreciated!

Nice job mate. Definitely getting one once we get the van. 👍

Great video clear instructions.
Doesn't get any clearer than that. Great job with no faff.
What kind of stone guard have you got? The one before ya got the stomper?? Ps nice vid. Thanks👍

I use the existing stone guard for a centre support. It's easy to access the box on mine when disconnect but still fine when connected as well.
What happens when you turn sharply to patl etc, creating a big angle between car and caravan? Is there much flex in it?
It’s designed with heavy duty bungy cord that works perfect Paul. No problems at all.
Hey mate how do you do all your measurements?
🇭🇲😀👍🍻🍻
