    Fantastic tasting video Livio. I love apple brandy but have only owned Laird’s. I need to get me some calvados. Cheers pal. 🥃

      I love it. Everyone is talking about single malt and bourbon whiskey, rum, cognac, even armagnac and tequila - but almost nobody is talking about Calvados. What a shame!

    great content, I newly discovered your channel and like your videos, but wonder why you added water before tasting? is that lighten the taste?

    • @MasterYourGlass
      @MasterYourGlass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Haken. Welcome to the channel. I like to taste spirits directly with a splash of water. Water opens up the spirit and I can taste more of the delicate components it has to offer. It’s a preference thing and in no way a must. If you do it in a different way and it works for you then keep your system in place. Thank you so much for watching my channel!

    aromas aside, do any of the ones you reviewed taste like apples, apple cider , or apple juice? I'm looking for a spirit that taste of apples.

      Hi there. Not really. And Applejack as well as apple Brandies don’t have that apple flavor you mentioned above. Your safest bet might just be Crown Royal Apple which has a clear apple flavor and you can adjust the concentration of its flavors by blending it with another spirit if it’s too much.

    If you had a cake recipe calling for this, which brand do you recommend ?

    Try Château du Breuil 20 ans... imho the best Calvados, hands down.

    A 100 types of apples ? Ah there's 7-8 hundred commercially available apples alone. 😀there are thousands of apple varieties.

      Thank you for watching.
      “Over a hundred different apples” used in Calvados. I believe there are roughly 7500 on the planet. But we are talking Calvados in this video. Not what’s “commercially available” nor what’s on the planet. Just the ones for Calvados. Appreciate you stopping by!

      @Master Your Glass Right on , I figured that would be your reply.😀
      I have had a calvados once . I bought it for flavoring a Carmel apple cheesecake which turned out marvelous. The calvados bottle had a full size unblemished green apple in the bottle. My recipe only called for an oz or 2. I drank the rest and spent that evening pondering how in the hell they got the apple in the bottle with out a single blemish 🤔 . The days before Google were full of wonderful mysteries. 🤷‍♂️

    Lairds is absolutely shite compared to a proper Norman Calvados!

    Why would you pour water in it as a first taste you literally altered the spirit and it’s not the distillers intended product to be served. I really hate that you did that if you were really that scared to get drunk so soon then just don’t pour so much pour less
