The WK1 SRT8 was a beast. I drag raced mine for YEARS. Went 8.0's at mid 170's in the 1/4. Went 8.30's AWD using a 100% bone stock front diff in it. 94mm turbo on a built 6.1L using a factory crank. The head of the Cherokee Nation wants Chrysler to stop using Cherokee as a name for a car because they see it as insensitive to the Native Americans, and I see their point. That might disappoint Jeep fans, but the Native Americans who are still around should be happy about it. Many schools used to have Redskins as their mascots and they had to quit because of how insensitive it was. I know Cherokee has been a name in their lineup for a long time, but the Chrysler minivan was named the Town & Country for decades, and they renamed it the Pacifica and it actually seems more successful. The Dodge Grand Caravan had been around for even longer, and now it is no longer sold, and it never got replaced with another Dodge minivan. In that case, replacing the Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L with a new SUV with a new name may not be so bad. They could name it the Jeep Leopard, Cheetah, or anything wildlife related because Jeep always wants to attract buyers who want to bring their cars into wildlife. If Chrysler were to ever name a car the Irwin, they should probably ask Steve Irwin's kids if it's alright with them if they keep his legacy going that way. Sound fair? If they are alright with it, the Chrysler Irwin would be the best name combination in my opinion, but in terms of what kinds of buyers you want that vehicle to attract, the Jeep Irwin would probably be best. Again, you should check with the Irwin family if it's alright with the Irwin family before you do that. Would you like there to be a Jeep Leopard, Cheetah, or another wildlife related name? I definitely think that would make perfect sense for Jeep to do since they do want to attract buyers who want to take their vehicles out into the wild.

This is spectaculation but I feel that maybe Stellantis is trying to make the Durango it's performance utility to give it more a separate identity from the Jeeps
Yeah definitely Dodge has been rebranded to be the performance brand for Stellantis in North America. Jeep simply doesn’t need to be, they’ve got hundreds of thousands of customers who love their products for other non-performance reasons. Not so sure about the Durango though as I hear it’s gone after 2023, unless they replace it!
The bubbling/peeling leather on the dash and failing needle rollers in the lifters is also occurring in the the top of the line Mercedes such as the S class and Maybach. So I don’t think it’s strictly a jeep thing.
I love the Gen 1 but that 5-speed trans was a poor match but the late 8-speed was far better over that long third gear in the 5-speed. I will miss this vehicle.

Off the top of my head, it’s just so impractical right? If I have $80k and want to go fast, I’ll buy a Hellcat Charger or Challenger. They are faster, look better, and have mostly all the same features. If I want an expensive family cruiser/SUV, most people do NOT want a Dodge. It’s just seen as cheaper and lesser in society to these people. Those people want to pull up to the office in a Benz or BMW, not a dodge. They are more luxurious and have the show off brand name, and 99% of people don’t care if they are a tiny bit slower as they barely ever go WOT anyways. It’s a very interesting discussion I might make more videos on the topic!

Even my BMW X5 xDrive50i (non-M) with the V8 offers just slightly better performance and that vehicle had almost the same base price as the Grand Cherokee SRT. And the BMW has better material quality.

The target market is kind of like muscle car enthusiasts who want something different. I still think it did well overall though
Do you think Chrysler should quit it with Cherokee being the name of a car? The head of the Cherokee Nation doesn't want Chrysler to use the name Cherokee anymore. I know they had good intentions, but the Cherokee Nation doesn't appreciate them using their name as the name of a car. The Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L should be renamed so Chrysler doesn't have the insensitivity anymore, and Chrysler fans including you will have to understand that. Some schools have had their mascot as the Redskins and had to change it for the same reason. Others have used names like Indians and Blackhawks, and they had to stop too. When Chrysler was asked to stop using the name Cherokee by the Cherokee Nation a year ago, Chrysler declined the name change which is quite hurtful. I know the name Cherokee been in the Jeep lineup for a long time, but Chrysler has had other names that had been in their lineup for a long time and renamed those cars. For example, the Chrysler Town & Country was renamed the Pacifica after over 20 years of their minivan being named the Town & Country, and the Pacifica seems more successful than the Town & Country ever was. The Dodge Grand Caravan was also canceled altogether a few more years later. There was also the Dodge Dakota which was discontinued altogether after 25 years. In that case, Jeep should come up with a new name for the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L. Many of my friends think Habitat would be a good name for a Jeep, so maybe they should go for that. I know Subaru could use it too for a vehicle they don't have yet, but Jeep and Subaru have somewhat similar goals as it is. Since you seem to be a Chrysler fan, what are your ideas for it? Do you think Chrysler should do a survey about what the new name should be? If they do, they should reject any demands to keep the name Cherokee and tell the people who want the cars to stay as the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee L that's very insensitive, and they will never use Cherokee as a name again.
Jeep sucks. You would think that with their SRT line of vehicles, they would up the quality to bare minimum if not higher. But of course not, stellantis needs to burn down.
This whole it's a Chrysler product and they have troubles with quality control issues is so far from the truth that's pitiful. I maintain a fleet of Chevrolets for a business and I have never seen so many problems on a vehicle. Early version Chryslers had cheap interiors but there is no quality issues as of this day. People just repeat this bulls$it because they heard it somewhere else quit vomiting crap you heard from somebody else.
