A long-term scientific research project has been implemented in the Tambopata Research Center. Here in the Peruvian Amazon, biologists, veterinarians, and geneticists work tirelessly to study the enigmatic macaws in their natural habitat. The acquired knowledge helps them to maintain the species and protect this biodiversity hotspot from human intruders: the gold miners. However, scientific approach alone was not enough to protect the area. A clever, economic solution was needed, offering alternative incentives to local people to keep these forests standing: eco-tourism. The Macaw Project gives a glimpse to the everyday work of the researchers, while also explains cutting-edge techniques with novel findings in a comprehensible way. It reveals information about the tropical rainforest ecosystem based on hard scientific evidence. This scientific documentary presents a sustainable and internationally applicable model for biodiversity conservation, incorporating scientific research and eco-tourism with strong involvement of the local communities.

This is one of my dreams or bucket list items to take some of the eco tours around South Amer. I would love to do the gorilla tours in the Congo also. Then I want to go on a whale watch.

Sitting here and watching ,the effort the conservationist trying to save the macaw is really impressive, nature is very fragile we must not take it for granted.

Imagine the increasing damage to the rainforest now (15 Feb '22) that the value lf gold has exceeded $1,800 per ounce.
The rainforest is of value quite beyond calculating and must be prized and saved forever.

So nicely said. It's incredible isn't it, how the price of the gold increased since we filmed the documentary... You probably guessed but the gold mining hasn't stopped since.

Born in south America well well the distroyers has arrived all this conservation and alit of the narrative don't make sense to me it has survived untouched and taken care of by the natives who have respect for mother nature it didn't need scientific help to survive in it's pristine condition I think it's all about putting a stamp of ownership and for their pleasure and for capitalism God help us and mother earth greed and distruction is devouring everything. Man .
Woman and child everything that lives including mother
Gaya our living mother in who's Bossom we rest for a little while
      One love one humanity 🙏❤️

Do you want to help those already in captivity ?
    We need clay lick...
Why not use the clay lick in branches with holes as toys for macaws.
Id have one branch every week or two ..
