    Loved this exercise. Thank you. Wonderful that you are coming to NZ, you will find all sorts of interesting things to sketch, as you would anywhere.

    I’m in Taria’s Sketch Your Adventures course now, and I highly recommend it. I’m a complete newbie - drawing and urban sketching - and I’m really enjoying it. Great course. I’m sure more experienced sketchers could also get a lot out of it.

    I always love the way you do foliage. It's the hardest part of any sketch I *attempt* to do. One difference, I think, is my climate. I'm in the US southwest (Tucson AZ) where foliage is.. more pointy? Sharper? Less full? More angles? Hard to explain and it depends on the view or the setting. Think Mesquite trees, palo verde trees, oleander, palms, desert brush... I'd love to see what you would do with a photo of my backyard (with an old mid-century modern structure in it).
    Also, very much looking forward to your book! Congratulations!

      @lisamessina5952 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am in Tucson as well. I find the hard edges of the desert difficult when my preference is a loose watercolor style. I keep at it!

    • @avo3ad0
      @avo3ad0 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lisa Messina well hello, fellow Tucsonan! Same here. Cactus are okay, but the mesquite and palo verdes really plague me. There's gotta be a way to do it without fiddling too much.

    • @tarias_sketchy_adventures
      @tarias_sketchy_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's so interesting and something I hadn't considered before - hard edged foliage. I am going to think about this some more. I would love to see that photo of your backyard...want to email it to me? Maybe I can figure out a demo around it? taria@urbansketchingworld.com :)

    I try to oil and acrylic my paintings.
    Applying the watercolor first seems a great way to stop me from lasering my work and focus on values. Thanks.

    I love this! However, I work with F-C Albrecht Durer wc pencils so will have to find a way to lay down the initial colour; possibly scribbling on a scrap of paper first to use as a palette 🤔 Whatever, I’m going to try it. Thank you 😊

    This is just lovely. I would like to support you on Patreon. I have never subscribed to anything on Patreon before and I would like to know if videos there can be downloaded to view offline. I have a 3 week trip coming up and would love to watch the videos on the plane. If not possible, then I would rather join when I get back.

    I miss doing watercolour and this certainly has got me wanting to do it again! I can't wait for your book. Congrats on the publishing. Have an amazing time in NZ. We went there for our Honeymoon in 2000 and then back with our kids in 2014. Absolutely loooooove NZ. I would move there if I could (I am in Australia).

    I wow. I follow you and am in NZ. And I didn’t know that there are sketching groups. I am so useless at it but I do try. I wonder if the event would
    Be too advanced for me to attend yet. Will
    You be presenting

      @tarias_sketchy_adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lauraine, no not presenting, just going as a sketcher :) you can come and sketch and not do the workshops, the ticket is cheaper too. Which part of NZ are you in? I am travelling all over for a few weeks before, would be great to say hi! Drop me an email :) (taria@urbansketchingworld.com)

    I will try to follow the symposium via another artist I follow, namely Alvin Mark. I also follow Teoh Yi Chie, another urban sketcher who hails from Singapore, but I am not sure if he will be attending. In any case of the three of you I ought to be able to see parts of what happens in New Zealand. Have fun, stay healthy and safe. -OkieSketcher1949
