My tip for gifts are seasonal passes to some local fun place or other adventures. One year our kids got ”gift cards” for going to a bakery and bake candy canes. That is still a really fun memory for us! 🍭
I loooooove craft kits from Target or Dollar Tree or online! We save them in a closet and then use them in winter if its bad weather or someone is sick. Its just a fun activity to have on hand!
When we were having a smaller Christmas we focused on adventures as gifts. The boys wanted to play pool and have lunch, glow in the dark mini putt...... It worked really well. They had stockings, ONE physical gift, then cards with the outings to choose from.
You could also buy some good binoculars for everyone so you can go bird watching. And maybe small sketchbooks to draw things they see on a hike etc in nature.
You are wise to declutter before you move .😅 I just moved this past summer and I have slowly been decluttering because I did not do it prior the move so I did learn a big lesson Get rid of stuff before you move😅 but I am retiring in early spring as I have been a teacher for 42 years. So I gave myself a goal to be clutter free by the end of next August… then I do realize I will have to organize my kitchen and bathroom Linen closet, and reset things and I also plan to paint because my new home has flat paint throughout it. So I will probably have more to donate or giveaway to abuse, women, and children..
I went to the recycling center today, with a car load full. I did declutter christmas, easter and ”ordinary” decorations because I’m going crazy. Also did a seasonal bin for each of my kids since they’re 16 and 18 and that turned out great. They also (of course) got to have their pick of everything I chose to declutter. The house feels so nice and ready for christmas, I have a santa collection that I love to take out every year and I’m looking forward to that! 🎅🎅🎄
If u wanted to u could give your kids coloring books, crayons, sticker books, cookies for Christmas gifts. Stickers and coloring books and crayons will all eventually be trown away.
That is the BEST feeling. I took down all my Halloween today and omg, it really helped with the suffocating clutter feeling I was having. I need to keep Christmas very minimal for decor this year. I just can’t handle a bunch of stuff out!!
I told my husband that this year I'm not buying Christmas presents, except some stocking stuffers for each person We can celebrate the day by doing something as a family and enjoying the time together!
Thank you for being real with us. Every video youtube mom I see is always eating healthy and seem to have a healthy eating habit. But not all of us can relate. I struggle with that as well and it was nice to see I'm not the only one.
It’s sooo hard. I go through phases where I’m doing really well but usually always fall off the band wagon again. I’m an emotional eater for suuure so when I’m really happy I like a little treat but when I’m sad or stressed I like a little treat too 🥴
Gift experiences, rock climbing sessions, cooking lessons or classes, zip lining, whatever your kid is interested in. Also try the trade out rule with a new toy they have to find a few things to donate.
A pumice stone cleans the oven super super easy. Don't use it on the glass but all the racks and inside cleans with little effort even on burnt on crud😀 I get the one that has a handle from amazon. And no it doesn't scratch. There are videos on you tube it's a game changer.
PS5 slim has a digital one that is smaller than the disk version. Another idea is a craft activity that has characters the children love❤ Glad you enjoyed the trip and Taylor's show.
Christmas giving for your kids is so difficult. I’m reminded of Harry Potters cousin when he complained he got less gifts this year than last.😂 I tried to remind my kids that Christmas is about Christ bday and not about getting presents. I would get my kids one big gift from Santa(usually a Lego or other toy). From mom and dad they’d get some stocking stuffers and clothing(PJ’s and one new outfit). New PJ’s are a Christmas tradition for us. I still give my boys (25 &21) new PJ’s. I tried to never buy more than a few gifts and hardly ever toys unless from Santa or little stocking stuffer or a board game. Usually family would get them toys so I tried not to. Since your kids don’t need any of that stuff you could give them a coupon book with an experience on it or a gift card to a place they’d like to visit, going to their favorite kids museum, zoo or favorite restaurant. Have a sit down with your oldest and tell him that his room is becoming too difficult to pick up. Let him know there are many children that their families don’t have money for new toys and they’ll usually go to Goodwill or whatever your local thrift store is to shop. Tell him his giving toys he no longer uses would make other children very happy. This worked well for my family. ❤
I've been binge watching older videos. I notice you have a little bathroom cabinet with wooden doors. I was wondering if you still have it & is it one that you can lift the doors slightly to pop them out. I've had a few that do that & it makes it easier to clean. If they don't come out, I've used the narrow end of a double ended dog toothbrush to clean some tracks. Loving catching up with you.
My son wore that lightning mcqueen costume last night and I didn't think it looked bad at all. It flowed nicely and didn't look wrinkled because it could give.
I think this one was old and well loved!! We got it off Facebook marketplace for $15. He loved it though and got so many compliments!! Everyone loves lightning McQueen 😂
I like the idea of getting an older ps5 or find one on Facebook market place. I like to give small snacks or things that people need. You could also get something for your children to display their playing cards
I am so guilty of getting too many Christmas gifts for my kids. I am trying to reign it in this year because we are expecting baby #3 and have already outgrown our maybe 1000 sf house. I have been asking relatives to gift items like magazine subscriptions and consumables. My oldest son wanted things for baking - like icing tubes and cupcake papers. I did get my 2 year old the Hot Wheels mega garage because he pines after it every time we are in a store. I found it for $50 off at TJ Maxx. He has room in his bedroom for toys because we typically don't keep any in there. I have been gradually sneaking toys out to see if they miss them before Christmas.
Also, I have never seen such a gigantor furnace filter! Our furnace is only 2 years old, and it takes the skinny type. The company that installed it said to change it every 30 days.
I would get one big gift and then smaller practical gifts...teaching them some toys are more expensive and I think your oldest boy would understand that..
I’ve thought about that but the hard part is I feel like they won’t be excited when they open something and it’s like a “ticket” or something, you know? They’re too little to really grasp it I think. But it’s a good idea for relatives I think
Correct me if I’m wrong here… You’re always decluttering your house, because you want to live a minimalish lifestyle. Yet you have a subscription to a box full of stuff you’re eventually going to declutter… Or do you really use everything you get? And the outfits you bought just for your weekend to New Orleans and you’re going to donate after wearing them once???? Girl… AND you’re trying to save money because you want to move… Make it make sense… 😅😅😅 No hate or anything, love your videos! ❤
Why not just limit it to 1 gift per child? The bike for the toddler and then that's it. And if you want to splurge on the playstation, then get an older model. Sure you can get those cheaper or perhaps it could be a present from several Family members. We've told everyone in the family, that one gift per child is acceptable. Otherwise we would drown!
Gifting for my grandkids (6,4,2) is so difficult! They have so many toys! I hate to just give them $! We do contribute to 529 accounts but that’s not something they’re interested in now!
Yep keep the clothes, make a date night every week, let the kids stay at your moms. Surprised you Mom didn't make the kids put away their toys. For Xmas, have kids give their toys away to homeless kids and work for a charity for the day. The less decorations you put up the less they expect. We stopped doing Christmas years ago, it's not Christ day of birth a n way.
My mom was a stickler regarding shoes. When you took them off, you put them away. Back when I grew up, we had Sunday shoes, school shoes, play shoes (which were old school shoes/tennis shoes.) a pair of flip flops (live in FL). So only 4 pair of shoes and flip flops. And those Sunday shoes came right off - Lol. I love Thanksgiving! I don’t see any influencers who talk about it anymore. I like fall scents - candles. My decorating for the different seasons is napkins and candles. I used to change out my flower arrangements but don’t anymore. I don’t want to spend the time changing things out and then having to store decor. It was very freeing for me. Sounds like you had a good trip! Now, it’s back to the daily routine. Love your videos!!!❤

My rule for Christmas giving
One gift for play
One gift to wear
One gift to read
And one gift to share ( this was a family gift for everyone)
Yes! I get my family pajamas and some sweets to share every year.
I loooooove craft kits from Target or Dollar Tree or online! We save them in a closet and then use them in winter if its bad weather or someone is sick. Its just a fun activity to have on hand!

Goodness you need a holiday after your mini break. 😊😊

I hope you take us to view potential new home. Looking at new homes is awesome
Toni boxes are awesome! Experience gifts are fun too. I like doing gifts that are also activities or crafts, which can keep them occupied for a while
We have a tonie box!! I’ll definitely get a few more tonies for it
Glad you had a great trip.
Great to declutter before you are moving. Makes it a bit easier.
Thanks for tge motivation.
Take care❤
Glad you had a great trip😊

thx for your cleaning motivation and recommendations, i really enjoy watching your videos ❤
Thank you so much ☺️

Crazy that it’s Christmas shopping time!
Absolutely mind blowing!!! Time is flying
Thank you.
Would love to hear about your moving process! Any packing and unpacking tips and of course how you organize your new house.
Absolutely!! We’re seeing a house this weekend 🤞🏻
Hi I was thinking that maube the clothes you bought could be usefull for xmas. I am.glad you had a good time❤❤

Catherine, what brand are your white sneakers? Can you link them? Thanks.

Easy off makes a cleaner for electric drives and that smell is lower than regular its in a blue container and it goes in a cold oven
Oooh good to know!
Can you send a link for that digital photo screen and box that's in your kitchen?
I would get one big gift and then smaller practical gifts...teaching them some toys are more expensive and I think your oldest boy would understand that..
Yes that’s def the plan!
Great motivation
Thank you! I'm glad it was motivating!
Beautiful cleaning up ❤😂🎉
Thank you 😊
I always wanted to try a Beignet at Cafe du Monde!
It was delicious!!
@CatherineElaine I agree it's so important to have time away as a couple. Once the kids leave the nest, you'll be alone together again.
What about a Disney on Ice or other outing as a family? You seem to already have plenty of toys...
You might want to think about experience gifts for Xmas.
I’ve thought about that but the hard part is I feel like they won’t be excited when they open something and it’s like a “ticket” or something, you know? They’re too little to really grasp it I think. But it’s a good idea for relatives I think
If I had got my hands on that pullover, I would wear it everyday 😂

Decluttering subscriptions, two birds with one stone.

I’m thinking one big gift and then some smaller things to add some “volume” under the tree but nothing crazy!!

I looove that you do that for them though as a former banker 🤗
I ordered an annual box, not only did they not give me the 20% off, I didn’t get a free gift. I was VERY UNDERWHELMED AND WONT RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION
I guess you're staying in Massachusetts?
For sure!! I hate the weather but my kids whole lives are here
