  • It stands in the middle of the forest, well hidden and surrounded by legends. A cheeky rock tooth above Bergen, Engelstein is an inconspicuous rock cone, not far from the tourist-developed Hochfeln in the Chiemgau Alps. Hugely popular with the locals, Engelstein has so far been spared the roaring crowd. A short, but quite serious vertex construction seems too dismissive to the viewer. However, those who do climb will enjoy a few nice fights and will be rewarded with unexpectedly beautiful views of the foothills of the Alps and the Chiemsee. Part of the ascent to the top must be overcome by climbing a sheer cliff. Height 972 meters.
