I barely recognise any where, so different in a few decades. We used to own 4 units in Key Hill Drive to 1996, entrance behind te 20mph sign at 16 min.
Another brilliant video Joseline. Many moons ago I used to work at the place on the corner of Vittoria St and Regent St. You pointed your camera to the room I used to work in on the 1st floor. Happy days. Thanks again Joseline 🙂
I didn’t know that Dayus square was named after Kathleen Dayus who was local author born in Hockley 1903 ! Omg her books about her childhood are amazing ,real brum poverty , I saw the name Dayus square and googled was it named after her and yes it is ! 🥰🥰 her books are sad but funny too
Thank you for this Joseline. I used to study and work in the jewellery quarter (about 20 years ago) for a few years and it was nice to have a trip down memory lane with your walk and even see the window of the room I worked in, in Hylton Street! As well as the other buildings and streets so familiar to me. :-)
Hi Joseline - no I left B'ham in 2004 - I live in a rural area now, but I have fond memories of the JQ and used to walk around those streets for years! :-D I have enjoyed some of your other videos too of the city centre and Harborne etc. so it's nice to find your channel to ''re-visit'' some of the places I knew so well. :-) Thank you! All the best, Lucy.
I have always wanted to visit the jewellery quarter , but haven’t managed to so yet so thanks for this video , it’s a lovely place , very well kept and absolutely huge 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Loving your video of the jewellery quarter Joseline. I really miss the place, so it was to see this video. I hope you dont mind but I'm sharing the video on Facebook.
Hello Alex, please do! Sorry for the delay. I realised I needed a full day to wander around the JQ and edit on the same day. Are you a former resident of Birmingham?
@@citiesthroughmyeyes hi Joseline, no, I'm not from Birmingham, I live in The Black Country but I am involved with gallery down there and had to attend monthly meetings down there before Covid. I just love the architecture and the history and the relaxed feel of the the place. You covered a lot in your video but hoping you will return there one day and film some more. Anyway, thanks again for the video, it's a joy to watch. Take care.
That's very interesting! I was curious to know what was your "relationship" to Birmingham 😀 since you seem to know the place very well but still from a distance. I was like "Was Alex Maczkowski born in Bham and ran away from the city the first chance you got?" Lol I wanted to do another area of the JQ: Newhall St and St Paul Square & Church but I ran out of storage on my phone... I'll try to go back there next week!
There used to be several bullion dealers in the J.Q. , but I did not see one in this vid. , so am curious as to where todays manufacturers obtain their materials. The building in Vittoria St. that used to be the Jewellery School looks as if it is no longer used for that purpose. Where did it go ?
You can't make a video on Walsall without including Bloxwich which is nice. So is Streetly , Mere Green, Four Oaks area of Sutton Coldfield and a bit further afield, Solihull & Dorridge. I know these areas since my teenaged years. I was born in Birmingham.
@@raj-kg3fx You are very welcome. Hope you like Birmingham my birthplace, I am currently living abroad in Brazil , but will be visiting relatives and friends soon as the aeroplanes start flying again, Lol
@@musiclover5023 hello bro , I love Birmingham very much and would like to settle down in that beautiful city forever. How is west Bromwich as a neighborhood, sandwell is also a beautiful area , but which area is the most posh in Birmingham. And there are lots of things I would like to know about Birmingham but j guess TH-cam is not the platform to chat. thanks buddy
I miss these areas. Under lockdown restrictions we're not allowed to visit them as you're only meant to exercise in your local area. I only visit the local park and local shops. Its tough, but worth it as I want lock down to end soon.
Thank you for your comment Ben Sims. And this is the reason why I do these virtual walks around Birmingham. After the lockdown, I plan on doing walks around the UK & little by little around the world.
Ben Sims, it is not my job but I treat my channel as such. I would rather stay in Bham for now because I heard of people being fined for leaving the city under lockdown "rules". It's a bit crazy out there at the moment so I'd rather wait for the end of the lockdown before I start travelling.
You might fancy checking out for your channel - Park Central, the redeveloped old Lee Bank estate it looks alright nowadays that's probably known as Attwood Green, ie Sunlit and Moonlit (small) parks.
Thank you for your video suggestions TommyVR, that's what I need 🙂I would be very grateful if you could make a list of the places in Birmingham I should film. In the Rookery Rd comment section, you mentioned a place a didn't know - Washwood Heath Rd. Can you suggest more places if you don't mind? Thank you in advance.
@@citiesthroughmyeyes There's lots and lots of places come to think of it lol. Considering where you've already filmed I'm surprised you haven't been down Washwood Heath Road, likewise for Alum Rock high street, and Bordesley Green Road and through towards the Coventry Road past the Birmingham football stadium. If you want to check out where the super wealthy live have a look around the area of Wentworth Road, Sutton Coldfield, very plush posh and big houses! its a private area though so I'm not sure if you're allowed to film there even though anyone can just casually walk through, google street view doesn't go in there.
Thank you very much! I put all those roads in my note book and I'll film them as soon as I can. Because I also make a different kind of videos: Birmingham then & now.The research, filming & editing part take a lot of my time away from the walking tours that I wish I could do more often. Thanks for Wentworth Rd, I'll see what I can do 😉

I've wobble out of there every Friday night called wobble because dance floor was wood lol🎉😂
As an international student at Bpp colleges I stayed in Spencer point for 2 years and now that I look back at its memorizing. Miss you JQ
