He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Larger than life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
Someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I would swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach
Like the fire in my blood
Like the fire in my blood
Like the fire in my blood
Like the fire in my blood
Like the fire in my blood
Hero
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
And he's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
Hero
And he's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
Not gonna lie, this song is probably the reason I enjoy listening to epic covers of songs on youtube. Bloody well done Jennifer Saunders ♥
I love this version of this song. Can't believe that it's not on Spotify!
Or Pandora
Wait spotify was a thing 11 years ago??
@@sighenel6038 didn't it come out in like 2010?
This movie came out more than 10 years ago :o I was about 4 when it came out .-. i feel old
I also remember when this movie was advertised in cereal boxes everywhere. I was 5 the time it came out. Shame that Frozen and Minions have taken over the market now.
+Marco Hidalgo THAT is BLOODY DEPRESSING! A depressing truth, but horrid nonetheless.
p
+AnimalCracker45 I'm 25...So I was older than you when it came out... So shut up silly teenager xD One day, you will feel really old.. especially when you read comments like the one you posted ;)
+TheHansen90 Haha I guess you're right but I have to say, I don't know if it's just me but as I get older I feel time is going faster
"No cover is better than the original!"
Jennifer Saunders: Hold my beer
Best response! 😆
Hold my hero
Some person: "The original singer is always better than the cover."
Me: (plays this song)
The REAL Slim shady RIGHT
Harry Gregson-Williams done a great job arranging this. It's the little things such as the Spanish Guitar at 3:30 to bring in the Puss in Boots scene.
If you don't sob over the gingy scene, you're a bigger monster than the fairy godmother ever could be 🥲
Everything about this scene was on point. I love this song and I’m surprised that as a child I didn’t pay any attention to it.
Not even Marvel-Disney scenes are as intense as this scene was with this song. Very Epic!!!
Hard to disagree
This is geniunely a great cover and I can remember the scene it backed vividly and it worked so well.
Framing, man. Shrek nailed it.
Jennifer Saunders did it better than Bonnie Tyler.
Jordan Days agreed!
true
Not really
@Not the car from that one movie They could of thought of these words..
@@kmjl93yes she did
Fun Fact: This was the highest grossing movie of 2004 😊
it was well deserved
A timeless classic if there ever was one. We were not ready, or deserving, for what this scene and song represents then, and we may never be now.
This version legitimately gives me goosebumps 😫😫💞💞
BatChest
Jennifer Saunders has a fantastic voice, gives me chills!
you know a movie is goated when even ur mom and dad enjoy it
2:13 - 2:24 is my favorite part. The suspension is real and the violins are on point.
- C minor, put it in C minor
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream
Of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

With every part of the song I know exactly what is happening in the movie
This is amazing
This song invokes a very primal need in my body.
A one of need to bop my head or any sort of dance. It’s sad that this song hasn’t been used in many many movies, from what I’ve seen. I think it would be amazing for a movie to have a scene based on this song.
Shrek is love, and life 💙
2:01 to 2:19 is hands down the best part of this song 😌
