- Today we take out the French AMX M4 into Ground Realistic battles. This tank is effectively a French Panther with a 90mm Autoloading gun which is great, don't get me wrong... but that solid shot round is probably its biggest weakness. Great penetration but very poor post-performance. That and its armour isn't as thick as the Panther's either so you're a very fast, mobile gun emplacement!

Ay dude. We used to play some games years and years ago. I tried leaving a comment on your last video but you didn't say anything. I'm hoping we can get to hang out a bit like the old times, maybe play a game or two. I don't know.
Skill issue, this tank and the amx50s/lorraine 40t are the only tanks I have a 3 k/d with, they are absolutely godly
Finally decided to grind France after reaching rank V-VIII in Sweden, USSR, USA, Germany and Britain. My hopes were not high, just unlocked the M4 yesterday and HOLY MOLY, especially after the AP buff! That thing has Rank V levels of penetration, and damn near the mobility of a Rank VIII with the armor of a panther
It’s suffrage after 7.7 I HIGHLY recommend using the amx 13 90 for your 8.3-9.3 grind and tbh just grind out the amx32 105 and the other amx32 at 9.3 becuz you will just suffer and suffer and suffer without a stabilizer and if you don’t have any jets for cas all the md’s do pretty good work if you’re good enough but alpha jet is your saving grace but once you get the amx40 you’ll have a great fun lineup along with the new vextra I have the lerclerc’s and they are cool but 9.7 is your fun area with France but 6.0-7.7 is beautiful
6:10 Not to mention the significant emotional event of the round actually penetrating your tank.
In a test by the British, ap shells were more effective at knocking out tanks making them combat ineffective and more reliable, however aphe was more deadly to the crews on enemy vehicles but most times they were duds as the fuses often didn't work or exploded before the shell was inside the enemy tank.
I wish they'd introduce a dud mechanic to aphe like how they introduced a shell shatter mechanic to apds.
Webe’s shaky hand when firing the cannon scares me. I love the AMX M4 tho. In past years, I haven’t played it bc other tanks overshadowed it, like the Bat Chat. However, now that I’m forced to play it at 6.7, I’ve found that it’s phenomenal. Very speedy, you can bounce with that Panther-class hull, you get a decent chunk of depression, and it’s gun pens and often one shots most everything. Also having an autoloader means you never have to worry about a bad reload speed. This tank is a carry tank all day long

gosh i love this tank, gotta aim for ammo/gunners and it turns into a beast. my first nuke was in this tank so it holds a special spot in my heart.

At 3:04 after you wait you can fire your gun even though it is still broken. I think you can go repair on a point.
I’ve had a hilarious time shooting people with autoloaders after they’ve shot my barrel! It’s so funny especially when I get the occasional “what” in the chat
I love how you say weak armor while I've been getting games where german tanks like the Jagdtiger can't even pen my upper plate or turret (turret is understandable since its almost 200mm thick).

First time? At least the gun bounce is better than most the tanks France has.
I have notice that exhaust fumes and smoke don't play nice together, very easy to spot the exhaust smoke for some reason.

Do you think you could make videos on the VG.33, P-43, J 22, D.500/501/510, Re.2000/2002, and/or Fokker D.XXI? They're real hidden low tier gems that none of the CCs seem to cover.
So it really depends on the country and purpose. In modern warfare you absolutely want to destroy the tank and eliminate the crew. Destroying the tank is a complete loss of a combat vehicle and eliminating the crew is a complete loss of a crew along with all the experience they’ve garnered.
Weapons may not win wars, but they’re needed so men might wage them. Take them both out and you’ve eliminated both obstructions.
As for solid shot, solid shot was easier to produce and more cost effective than APHE and other complex shell types.
When I was in the Army, we had different levels of effect on armored vehicles. The different levels were separated by percentage based values but I cannot remember what they percentages were. As an FO, immobilization of a tank was really the most we could expect without CAS or Guided Munitions, but striving for a catastrophic kill (complete destruction of the vehicle/unit/enemy element) when able to is always the best case scenario.
3:04 you don't unlocked "improved part" so you can't repair yourself
France suffers. It's factual. Solid shot well into top tiers. Ouch.
*In real life, there is little to no difference between AP-solid and APHE. Spalling from solid shot would kill everyone in the tank just as effectively.
I think the reason why solid shot is so bad in War Thunder is because of the way the physics of rounds work in game versus how they work irl. Irl solid shot/sabot would be WAY better than in game.
Solid AP works fairly accurately do how it does irl. Thin armor creates little small in a tight cone, penning thick armor creates much more spalling in a much wider cone. Thats what it does irl. What’s not fair is how bad it is compared to APHE, which explodes in a sphere like a grenade after penetrating, which is NOT work it works irl.
@@eggshapedisraelioperative6317 also a lot of the time aphe rounds had major issues with their fuses and this is one of the reason why nations like the UK chose solid shot over aphe.
