These wrist warmers look lovely and I definitely am going to make some. I have osteoarthritis in my hands and sometimes crocheting can be painful. Do you have any tips on how I can overcome this? Thank you 😊
I do have this issue, but here are some others have tried: Aspercreme, wearing supportive gloves, soaking you hands in either warm or cold water, get a hook that works well for you (this will be different for everyone), and take breaks. I am not a doctor, so you might discuss the ideas with a doctor.
Is it possible to skip the last slip stitch on each row and then mattress stitch it together at the end? I've tried to follow along but instead of having 31 stitches in rows 2 -7, I end up with 30. This throws off the rest of the pattern off.

Yes you could choose not to join with a slip stitch for the entire pattern and then sew up the side at the end.
