I recently watched the Invention of a Tank you tube video.
The Charles Henry Round
To defeat reactive armor could be rather simple. Since the force of the explosion is outwards a second section of material would be shaped by the outward explosion of the armor after a first section has triggered the armor. The material would have to malleable enough to form a barrier around the dense secondary core to keep the explosion from deforming the second core. To keep the second core traveling at maximum velocity a plate would be added to the rear of the second core, just like the original sabot, ball and wood block. As the first section defeats the reactive armor the second section uses the explosive outward force to create a stabilizing wrap around the second core to allow the core to continue travelling forward. The wood block , travelling at near original velocity and has defeated the reactive armor is now either able to burn through the armor creating small cracks that the additional wood block adds additional mass to the penetration of the second core either causing the second core to penetrate or to create a Squash Head like effect.
The second core would be basically like wrapping your Charles Henry in a condom and giving the tank a good roggering.

Awesome! How does this work, though? How do you make sure that the impact of the penetrator doesn't cause a high-order detonation? Also, are the bomb contents mostly burned (true low-order reaction) or are the mostly dispersed?

The device thee team is employing in this video is called a vulcan de armer , it employs an explosive charge behind a copper cone that when fired inverts smieler to an RPG warhead) turns into a molten jet of plasma , penitrae's the bomb destroying the fuse, it dose this at such speed that the fuse dose not have time to activate and detonate the bomb it dose not impart enough shock to the item to detonate the explosive main charge of the bomb. some times though you do get a high order detonation of the bomb hence all the safty practices for a high order detonation such as a minimum exclusion zone of 1000meters must be employed. The vulcan de armour is not a cheap piece of kit ( over $100 US) and is a one shot deal. President Trump cut funding to the Lao PDR by 40% making it very difficult for lao to continue to afford to obtain vital equipment to do this life saving work to date the funding has not been restored thus for filling president Obama and Sec of state Clintons promise to increase funding for the clearance of U X O in the Lao PDR.
