Liz, I think your problem can be solved by having magnets on the tin, and only washers on the stitching, so when stacked in the tin your washers won’t stick to each other and pull away from their stitched piece the way magnets do. Washers are cheaper than magnets too. So magnets on one tin are more economical than on 12 stitched pieces. ❤️
I love the idea of making the tier tray stitch wedding theme. I think it would be adorable framed and sitting on one of your wedding reception tables!!
Love the idea of changing the chart to fit your wedding. I think the chalkboard should have Rob & Liz and then put the date in the little tiny heart swag 🥰. Hope your week = plenty stitching. Have a great week, Liz
I'm so glad your stitching wasn't ruined! Priscilla always stores her stitching with the stitched fronts facing each other so the metals in the washers won't come in contact with the stitching . maybe that would be a solution for you. Or maybe just slide each one in a good old Zip lock baggie before you pop it in the tin to avoid having the stitching come in contact with your magnet😊 Your ring bearer pillow is looking adorable, and I love your idea for the Madame Chantilly piece! Get lots of stitching done this week!
Liz, I'm so glad your stitching was not ruined. My heart sank as you described what happened. I 💔 You held it together . I would place washers on my projects and the magnets on the tin. Thank you for sharing with us. I know the next video will be your usual bubbly self.
So glad your cross stitch wasn't ruined! My suggestion is to stick the adhesive magnets on with E6000 and let dry for a few hours before you try adhering to the metal container. As for storage, I definitely think you can still use the tin. Just put backs together and fronts together so none of the magnet backs touch the stitching.
You could put some glue on the magnets, even though they are sticky, & store them stitching to stitching, back to back. That way you could still use the tin. Can't wait to see your quilt done. The Madame Chantilly will make a cute wedding piece. Marilyn
I'm so glad your stitched piece wasn't ruined, how upsetting! I hope you can find a solution so you can still store them in the tin. The Madame Chantilly tiered tray will be perfect for a wedding sampler, great idea! The Lady Bird fabric is beautiful! Have a great week!
enjoy your stitching time.....thanks for sharing everything....love the show and forgot to mention that I LOVEd seeing your beautiful couple pictures las week. Just stunning and beautiful and gorgeous.....lol.
i think Priscilla of Stitching with the Housewives suggests putting washers on the stitched pieces and the magnets on the tin. Also more cost effective. So glad it all worked out. I was so nervous for you. Boy, you really do handle yourself well!!!😁
So glad that you're piece wasn't ruined...I have a suggestion. Cut pieces of cardstock and put them between your cross stitch. I love the tin, it's a great way to display and store your pieces
Well rescued. I’m sure someone else will say it, but Priscilla uses the magnet on the tin/board and then just adds washers to the stitched pieces. That way it’s less expensive (use fewer magnets) and you would avoid any magnet mishaps in the tin.
What a scary moment with that magnet, I caught myself holding my breath 😂 I was so relieved that it didn't ruin your finished piece! The lady bird fabrics are beautiful, the quilt is going to be stunning! Have a great week!
You can do the magnet sides together and the stitching sided together. Do each one will flip flop the way they are in there. They will be ok then. Thank you for sharing Liz. I always love your videos.
So glad you didn't damage the stitchy project! Idea, probably one of many, stick a piece of cardboard between each of them or stick them in some time of plastic bag type thing around each?
I'm glad you were able to get the magnet off. I think you should try and get your wedding quilt done, even if cross-stitch suffers a little. I think the Love cross-stitch would be cute turned into a wedding one like you said.
Liz, love your floss tube, thanks so much for all the time and effort. So glad the magnet didn’t wreck your stitches, thanks goodness. Have a great day 🤗
Put your magnets on the metal can. Then put washers on your cross stitch pieces to display them. That way you can store them in your tin. Good luck. SandyAnderson
OMG! So glad your stitching was not damaged!! My Aunt always told me store stitch to stitch back to back...Absolutely love watching your Flosstube. You are so positive and such a joy:)
Oh my goodness we could see your pain when you pulled your monthly's out of the tin. My heart was pounding for you. All is well still I hope. It looked great. Have a great stitching week.
I actually thought this video was a perfect length. I love the changes that you are thinking of making to the Madame Chantilly love pattern. I purchased We will Dye for you fabric from their online shop and it is absolutely lovely.
So with your word play charts maybe store them stitch to stitch or us tissue paper to separate or put the magnet on the tim and put washers on the backs of the stitched pieces. I can't wait to see your single girl quilt. Happy stitching
Put the magnet under the fabric by attaching it to the mounting board with E6000. Then put the fabric over the top of the magnet. It will be strong enough to stick to the tin to hold up your piece.
Hi Liz. Maybe try putting a magnet on the tin and adhering washers to the individual pieces. That way there store ready to use but won't stick to each other.
I'm glad your stitched piece wasn't damaged! It looks like there are lots of ideas in the comments.. I've been thinking about finishing and storing some pieces in a similar way, so I was interested to see what suggestions there were.
I would put washers on the pieces and magnet on the tin and adhere the magnet with E6000 glue. And store stitching stitching sides together and washer sides together. I do that with my calendar crates by the housewives, Priscilla recommends the magnet on the display and washers on the pieces.
Love your videos. You are one of the flosstubers who inspired me to start my own. For your magnet issue, how about some cut cardboard in between? Maybe that would be thick enough to keep the magnets from trying to connect to each other?
Oh, I am so glad your piece was not damaged!! I don't have any suggestions that haven't been listed already. The Madame Chantilly pattern is gorgeous and I love your ideas to personalize it! Thanks as always Liz and happy stitching!
Use hot glue to attach the magnets - if they come off it will not stick to any thing else. And/or make a cloth sleeve for each piece so they don’t touch each other 🙂❤️
I was holding my breath when you pulled off the adhesive. I would not had been as calm as you were. So glad the piece isn't ruined. ❤ Thank you for another great video. Have a great week!
Hi Elizabeth! Put the washers on the back off your pieces and not the magnets. Put the magnets on the piece you are adhering the pieces to. Or put acid free cardboard in between the pieces, that way if it would flip the magnet the sticky part will be on the cardboard and not the stitched piece!
That Madame Chantilly tiered try will be awesome as a wedding piece. I like using unconventional charts to commemorate special occasions. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
I use acid free comic book cardboard I got on Amazon, I use these to store my fabric stash and also used as separators between my Calendar Crates that I store in a Sterilite tub.
Went back to watch this because I’m starting the Word Play series today and liked how you decided to display them. You probably have your new storage solution, but I was thinking just an archival paper or mat board between them.
I felt so bad regarding the magnet mishap! I wanted to reach through and give you a hug. 😟 Glad that there wasn’t any major damage. Thoughts … maybe you just need to wrap each piece in tissue to protect the stitching OR you could attach the pieces using adhesive Velcro. I see there are a number of other suggestions. We’ve got your back!! Me and my fella have been together 30+ years … I love my ‘alone’ time. Ha! Have a great week!!
glad you were able to get the sticky magnet off your beautiful sampler. what about using lightweight velcro dots... sticky side on the tin and just glue or stitch the fuzzy side on your stitching.. that way there's no opportunity for metal to damage your hard work.. some of that stuff can rust. best wishes
Enjoyed catching up with you today and I was so worried about your piece I’m so glad it didn’t damage your stitching. Have a wonderful day and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Sew excited to hear you shopped at my favorite local cross stitch shop here in La Porte, In., where I live. It would have been so cool if we were both there at the same time. Maybe on your next visit. Becky
see about the magnets the Stitching with the Real Housewives use. Love Love the red sampler, will pick mine up on this Thursday when my shop gets it. I have just one Wordplay so will pick another one also on Thursday.
Put your magnets on the tin and a washer on the stitch piece. This is a idea from Stitching with the Housewives. She uses tins to display her stitching with the magnets on the tin and magnets on the stitch piece
So glad the finished piece is safe. You could try leaving the magnet on the front and attaching washers to the finished piece. That way you don’t have to worry about anything sticking together in the tin. I just got the Madame Chantilly Love pattern as well - it’s so cute. I’ve done two of the tiered trays - watch the stitch count - they’re bigger than you think. I did mine on 40 count and left off the word at the bottom and I think they still ended up around 7x10. Can’t wait to see what you do with it to personalize.
I store my monthly cottages in a metal bin from HL and I wrap each one in a piece of acid free tissue paper. Also I use E6000 to glue on my magnets. So far it has worked very well and have had no problem in them.
Liz, I am also currently sewing a quilt using the Lady Bird fabric line! My girls bought me the kit for Christmas and I thought spring would be the perfect time to work on it with the wildflowers beginning to bloom. Can’t remember the name of the quilt, but some of the blocks I’ve sewn are on my IG. It’s a Lady Bird sew-along! ☺️ I have also accumulated so much fabric….far more than I can sew when I also want to cross stitch all the time. It is truly a problem. 😫
I was so glad to see that the magnet did not ruin your project! That was a close one. I have a couple of suggestions. When I get needle minders from MadForMinders, she packages them with a sheet of foam on the back. So if you taped the foam to the magnets on the back, it would lesson the magnet’s strength to bond to the other magnets in the tin. On top of that, you could put your stitching facing each other so the magnets could not migrate from one project to another. I would put a piece of acid free paper between the projects to keep the colors from running and project the stitching. If that doesn’t seem feasible, I would reach out to the Real Housewives of Cross Stitch. They have many projects that they use this same display method for. Ask them how they store their projects or what magnets they use that do not migrate. Please remember to share so we can all benefit from your wisdom. OMG! Your finishes are so beautiful. I hope you get a lot of stitching done this week! Have a good one!!!
Your finishes are so beautiful this week. I love your Word Play. Your new fabrics are scrumptious. Maybe put the washers on your cross stitch pieces and the magnets on the tin instead, and pop each finished piece inside a sheet protector or put card stock between them. I love all your videos no matter the length.
What a scary moment! I always place my pieces with Cross-stitch sides facing each other. It helps to protect the stitching. I also hot glue my magnets on. So not sure if that would help you but it's an idea for you. Good luck!
Enjoyed your video - I have been resisting the Wordplay charts but am getting tempted - also forgot to tell you last week how precious your engagement pictures are - looking forward to next week
So glad you showed your Blackbird Design fabrics, I have some stashed away and I could make a project bag, you come up with some of the best ideas 💡 Thank you for sharing.
Put a piece of Velcro (I’d use the fuzzy side, so you wouldn’t have to worry about it pulling on any stitches it might be up against in the box) on the back of each piece, then put the opposite side of the Velcro on one magnet, then you’d just take the magnet off each month and move it to the next piece.
I always put my magnets on the piece the stitching is mounted on and then just washers on the back of the finished piece. When I store the monthly pieces, I then put two, washer sides together. Glad you were able to get the magnet off!
Hoping you are safe down there and was not close to the tornado destruction. I forgot how far round Rock is from Austin. Just praying you are all safe. Hugs.
Whew! My heart sank right along with yours when you opened that tin and when you said you would try to get the magnet off I was sitting here in the couch with my breath held and fingers crossed. I was so happy that you were able to get the magnet off with such minimal damage. Good job on getting some of your craft room straightened up. A little bit every day and it will get done before you know it. xoxo
OMG! I felt so bad for you! Store with heavy cardboard in between and maybe make a tiny pillowcase for each with some of your fabric! Enjoy your alone time! 💕
Still watching but had a thought. Put the magnet on the container and metal washers on the project. Maybe a slip of card stock between them inside the box. Happy Stitching! Hope you’re able to get a lot done!
If you didn’t want to use washers, another option would be to make sure that they are stored magnet side to magnet side so that stitching only touches stitching. Hope that makes sense! Although if the magnets repel each other then that won’t work well 🤣
If you haven't already watched Jean Farish #76 ~ Floss Storage Solutions, you should. Great Ideas. I enjoy your Flosstubes, your energy and zest for cross stitch and life.
OMG, Whew! Maybe store them 2 at a time, right sides together, magnet towards the top, then the next 2 also right sides together, but the magnet part lower inside the tin. I'd also add a dap of hot glue to that adhesive strip for better bonding. That's gonna make a great pillow. Tough to do the adult responsible thing to do, ha. Hmmm, Maybe add your names to the chalkboard, number date on the coffee mug above!?!?
Oh no!!! Crisis averted!!! What about using one magnet on the tin and glue washers to the back of the pieces (Pricilla has been doing that on the Housewives channel) that way all that’s inside won’t stick together. Thank you for all your enabling lol your videos are always a joy to watch!
I'm so glad the magnet came off without too much issue. I really love the idea of the tin box holding the monthly charts. Please do let us know if you come up with a different solution because I was planning to follow your lead on that project. Your fabric haul is gorgeous. Hope your week great.
I'm so glad your piece is ok! I love the Tired Tray!! I want to stitch that one! I love her trays. Have fun in your craft room this week! I think if you wrapped each one in some acid free paper that if something were to happen again like that it would stitck to the paper. Lol, cause I'm like you and love having a spot for storing my finishes.
Maybe place a piece of thick cardboard between each month and alternate the magnetic strip placement top/bottom. Better than using even stronger magnets.

I love how you held it together when you found your cross stitch could be ruined! I’m so glad all was ok! ❤️
Always enjoy your WIPS and humor. So glad you salvaged your beautiful piece!
I am so glad your cross stitch piece didn't get damaged. Take care and happy stitching!
Liz, I'm so glad your stitching was not ruined. My heart sank as you described what happened. I 💔 You held it together . I would place washers on my projects and the magnets on the tin.
Thank you for sharing with us. I know the next video will be your usual bubbly self.
What if you put a magnet on the tin, and washers on your cross stitch pieces? ❤️
Yup I think that’s the solution!
The only issue is with both a magnet and washer the stitched piece sits further away from the tin canister.
@@betsykohl7226 Maybe if the magnet is on the inside of the tin, that would help with the space between the cross stitched piece and the tin! 🤞🏻
Great idea!!! That was a scary possible disaster 😳
@@prairiestitcher515 Right?! So glad Liz was able to fix it!!!
You’re stitching is so cute. And I love the idea of the Madam Chantilly Tiered Tray as a wedding sampler. Go for it. Your design ethic is beautiful!
I’m glad you didn’t turn off the camera and you showed us what happened to your stitching! I’m was holding my breath!
We you showed that magnet on your cross stitch pieces, my heart nearly stop...so happy it came off....thanks for sharing...take care and be safe...

i think Priscilla of Stitching with the Housewives suggests putting washers on the stitched pieces and the magnets on the tin. Also more cost effective. So glad it all worked out. I was so nervous for you. Boy, you really do handle yourself well!!!😁
Love the Lady Bird fabric! Also love the idea of changing chart to wedding piece.
So glad that you're piece wasn't ruined...I have a suggestion. Cut pieces of cardstock and put them between your cross stitch. I love the tin, it's a great way to display and store your pieces
I was so scared right along with you with those magnets! So glad it wasn't too bad. Love the octopus fabric too 🐙
Well rescued. I’m sure someone else will say it, but Priscilla uses the magnet on the tin/board and then just adds washers to the stitched pieces. That way it’s less expensive (use fewer magnets) and you would avoid any magnet mishaps in the tin.

Wrap your word plays with a piece of tissue. Acid free. I'm glad it didn't damage it. Beautiful stitching
You are so much fun! I love to change the colors and designs of my charts too. Thats what makes it fun.
Glad your stitching wasn’t ruined. Put something between them, fabric, paper, etc.
You can do the magnet sides together and the stitching sided together. Do each one will flip flop the way they are in there. They will be ok then. Thank you for sharing Liz. I always love your videos.

When placing them in the tin, place every other one magnet down. This way the magnets never touch.
Just store them stitch facing stitching, then next two back to back with a thin piece of cardboard between. Love your videos, so glad all was savable.
Liz, love your floss tube, thanks so much for all the time and effort. So glad the magnet didn’t wreck your stitches, thanks goodness. Have a great day 🤗
oh my gosh I was sweating during that segment 😂 so glad I don't have to restitch anything
Put your magnets on the metal can. Then put washers on your cross stitch pieces to display them. That way you can store them in your tin. Good luck. SandyAnderson
You can wrap each project in white Tissue paper then store in your can. Works for me😌
OMG! So glad your stitching was not damaged!! My Aunt always told me store stitch to stitch back to back...Absolutely love watching your Flosstube. You are so positive and such a joy:)

You handled that very well! Maybe try E6000 or hot glue and test some not-cross stitch pieces. Let us know what works! Enjoy your week of craftiness!
Put the magnet under the fabric by attaching it to the mounting board with E6000. Then put the fabric over the top of the magnet. It will be strong enough to stick to the tin to hold up your piece.
Put the washers on the back of your stitching an the magnet on the tin hun ...lovely works of art as always
Hi Liz. Maybe try putting a magnet on the tin and adhering washers to the individual pieces. That way there store ready to use but won't stick to each other.

Thank you! Yeah I'm excited to see how I can make that work!
I use acid free comic book cardboard I got on Amazon, I use these to store my fabric stash and also used as separators between my Calendar Crates that I store in a Sterilite tub.
Put the magnet on the metal box and glue washers to the back of the stitching. That will possibly work better for storage.

Glue the magnet to the can. Then glue washers to your pieces
glad you were able to get the sticky magnet off your beautiful sampler. what about using lightweight velcro dots... sticky side on the tin and just glue or stitch the fuzzy side on your stitching.. that way there's no opportunity for metal to damage your hard work.. some of that stuff can rust. best wishes

see about the magnets the Stitching with the Real Housewives use. Love Love the red sampler, will pick mine up on this Thursday when my shop gets it. I have just one Wordplay so will pick another one also on Thursday.
You can either E6000 or hot glue to glue down your magnets and they will not come off. And put them back to back with one upside down. Hope that helps
Put your magnets on the tin and a washer on the stitch piece. This is a idea from Stitching with the Housewives. She uses tins to display her stitching with the magnets on the tin and magnets on the stitch piece

I was so glad to see that the magnet did not ruin your project! That was a close one. I have a couple of suggestions. When I get needle minders from MadForMinders, she packages them with a sheet of foam on the back. Love chart so pretty and you can change flowers to your wedding colours? Lovely as always to see you 😊
Clever idea on making the tiered tray chart a wedding piece. Whatever you do will be wonderful. Your videos are always enjoyable!😁
Your finishes are so beautiful this week. I love your Word Play. Your new fabrics are scrumptious. Try putting the magnet on the tin and washers on the pieces maybe 😁
Thank you for sharing, Liz!💚
You could just store the one up one down. Or attach the magnet to the tin and then glue a metal washer on your cross-stitch .
Enjoyed your video - I have been resisting the Wordplay charts but am getting tempted - also forgot to tell you last week how precious your engagement pictures are - looking forward to next week
Thank you so much!!
Try covering the magnet in fabric before adhering and that red double side tape is pretty strong. This combo may fix the problem for you.
You could store the extra patterns in zip lock bags, open of course.
Yes I think that is the answer! I need to find some magnetic washers and switch to that method!
Your finishes are amazing especially the word play. I also love all the fabrics for quilting especially the Blackbird fabric.
Great video. Hope you get your magnet stitching worked out. Your quilt ideas are lovely! I hope you get a lot of stitching done this week.❤️❤️❤️🍒🍒
Thank you so much!
Hoping you are safe down there and was not close to the tornado destruction. I forgot how far round Rock is from Austin. Just praying you are all safe. Hugs.

When I store mine, I put a piece of think pink bubble wrap between each piece. Just a thought. Have a great week, thanks for sharing all. Your goodies
Try washers on the back. Keep the magnets. Like round ones on the outside of the tin ???
Although if the magnets repel each other then that won’t work well 🤣
Just put an acid-free comic book board in between each of your monthly pieces to keep the magnets from pulling onto your stitching.
Hot glue or e6000. Take cheese cloth or gauze and wrap eat one just a thin layer to protect each one. That way you can store them in the tin.whew!
If you haven't already watched Jean Farish #76 ~ Floss Storage Solutions, you should. Great Ideas. I enjoy your Flosstubes, your energy and zest for cross stitch and life.
Thanks for sharing!
Priscilla hot glues her magnets on the common piece (the tin in your case) and hot glues washer(s) to the cross stitch interchangeable piece.
Thank you for all your enabling lol your videos are always a joy to watch!
yup! I think that's my solution!
Put magnets on the tin and just put washers on your cross stitch pieces.
Clever
Yeah that is probably the way to go! I need to find some magnetic washers and try that method!
Go to a hardware store and bring your magnet to test the washers.
Maybe place a piece of thick cardboard between each month and alternate the magnetic strip placement top/bottom. Better than using even stronger magnets.
