Where I Stood by Missy Higgins is an underrated honorable mention. Also, Lithium and Lost in Paradise by Evanescence are my choices for hauntingly beautiful Evanescence songs.
For Annie Lennox, I would have chosen "Into the West", from The Return of the King. I always cry listening to it, thinking of loved ones that have passed over to the Grey Havens 🥺
I remember going so many days overplaying My Immortal by Evanescence and just be at awe at those instrumentals here. Amy's voice is beautiful and yet heartbreaking. The same could be said of Bonnie Rait's I Can't Make You Love Me. On some days, this song can put a grown man such as myself to tears. It's a classic song and I cannot believe its from 1991 - I was only 8 years old when that song came out.
Lana Del Rey's songs are great for this mood. Born To Die, The Grants, Summertime Sadness, Did you know there's a tunnel, among others are haunting and beautiful!
The absence of Hozier is criminal. I have nothing else to do so here are some personal picks that I think are hauntingly beautiful if anyone is interested; 1) the doll people - sofia isella 2) diminuendo - lawless ft. britt warner 3) nfwmb - hozier 4) don't fear the reaper (cover) - denmark+winter 5) seven devils - florence+the machine 6) love and war - fleurie 7) sober - tool 8) black hole sun - sound garden 9) once upon a dream - lana del rey 10) video games(cover) slowed and reverbed - trixie mattel (very specific, yes, but its too heavenly) 11) bone church - slipknot 12) lie - bts 13) the season of the witch - lana del rey 14) horizon - aldous harding 15) i need a forest fire - james blake ft. bon iver 16) anything by hozier 17) drink before the war - sinead o'conner 18) indigo night - tamino 19) anything by sufjan stevens If any one have other recommendations I'd appraciate it. I really like this vibe of music.
Nice list. Tears in Heaven, Sounds of Silence, and Mad World are my favorites. I'd also add Stranger in Moscow and Earth Song, both by Michael Jackson.
While I realize that you dislike having more than one song by a given artist, “All At Once” by Bonnie Raitt is a favorite, and is as incredibly soothing as a lullaby, only this time for adults. “Come On, Come On” by Mary Chapin Carpenter also has a similar effect (another excellent one by MCC is “Where Time Stands Still”.)
I would also add Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Pink Floyd) and Streets of Philadelphia (Bruce Springsteen) to the list. Those songs are gorgeous and stick with ya
For me, both the song "Death Beds" by Bring Me The Horizon along the accompanying music video will always be hauntingly beautiful. If I ever get married I would like for it be my first dance song. That or Bring Me The Horizon's "Follow You".
Say something by James off the LAID album, Footsteps by Pearl Jam, Haunted by Poe, and that's just the top 3 off my 90s picks that you missed on this list
Epiphany by Taylor Swift is so haunting and is the most haunting vocals and music she's made. Also, it's dual message about her grandfather in war and the pandemic. I cry every time I listen to it.
Joy Division Love Will Tear Us Apart too; Echo and the Bunnymen Under the Killing Moon; Gun Club Las Vegas Story; Pixies Monkey Gone to Heaven.; the Cure pornograohy.. these young'uns don't know haunting beauty like we did, we lived it
Check out: Maligno, by Aterciopelados Bring me the disco king, by Bowie Many many many Björk's songs. Hyperballad is not her most haunting song. And some Neil Young's songs.

That one para from 1975 - about you gets me I just broke up with my girlfriend and eventually, I'll start forgetting her too lol. "There's something about you that i cant remember" Bruh never thought this would happen lol
If a Bjork song was gonna so on, I feel like Possibly Maybe would have fit better, it’s just so sweet and sad. But I guess this is only going for the hits
When I told my ex I was leaving he played "I can't make you love me" over and over for days. I loved that song but I couldn't listen to it for years. Jerk.
