    I like these easy kits by Hobby Boss,yes they may be simple and not the most accurate but as I prefer the painting rather than the gluing together and I am not a rivet counter(if it looks similar to what the real one looks like thats ok by me), they are great for me.

      Totally agreed with you sir, if it seems very similar its ok.

    I bought a couple of the Hobbyboss P-51c's for my other half (her favourite aircraft). She mostly builds 1/32 and 1/48 Mustangs , but sometimes prefers to build something quick. Apart from the lack of interior details, once built and painted, these quick kits look just as much the part as any other. Great value, I'd say. Forget the little foibles like oversized rear mg in the Bf 110. They can be replaced if needs be. Same with missing bombs etc. Those that build straight from the box won't lose sleep over these things anyway. They're great little kits which in the hands of the experienced can be made to look like winners !

    Hobby Boss kits are a mixed bag. Primarily I collect and sometimes actually build 1/72. I have a few Hobby Boss and "Easy Model" collectables which appear to be built and painted Hobby Boss kits. Overall they seem more accurate than the Airfix and Revell 1/72 kits I built in my childhood (1960's -70's).
    My modelling output bogged down when I joined IPMS and starrted worrying about the kind of details that won't even be seen when the model is complete. I admire modellers with the skill to do it. But my philosophy is, if I want to show interior detail, build a larger scale kit. For me, 1/72 is more a "canvas" to show multiple color schemes. I'm fine with "gear up", prop blurred, pilot/crew at their stations.
    Some Hobby Boss kits miss important shapes and details but some look spot-on.
    For instance, I was pleased to find that Hobby Boss used the Tamiya 1/72 P-47s as "inspiration" for their 1/72 P-47s. The external shapes and panel lines are essentialy identical. I am curious, what other kits have "inspired" a Hobby Boss kit?

    Unless you want this type of quick build kit, I would go with the Eduard or Airfix Bf-110E kits. The Revell version is the old Monogram kit and it has the bomb racks molded on just like the Hobby Boss kit. I would only consider them if the price is your main concern, but you will get what you pay for too. Airfix is probably your best value here but Eduard's kit is the best in detail and fit.

    The underwing racks were plumbed for drop-tanks, but the underfuselage bomb-rack was only fitted to certain versions. In 1941, radar was still under development, and night fighters were expected to use ground control.
    The MG15 is more than twice the size it should be.
    I'd take any from Airfix, Revell or Matchbox, as better treatments of this aircraft, but the fighter-bomber versions are rare, so the only way I'd build this kit is with after-market decals and parts (guns, bombs, droptanks ) as a Bf 110E fighter-bomber.

    For that kit the packaging is probably a bit over the top but generally prefer their way to something like Airfix where everything is rattling around in one bag. As for the kit itself... doesn't look too bad and easy kits like that can be a fun quick build with more time spent on the painting. Didn't realise that they did kits like this one so thank you for reviewing it.
    Have to admit that I have made quite a few Hobby Boss kits and overall most have been OK but you do need to research a little before buying. My first one was a 1:35 Scale AAVR-7A1 which I got for about £22 and that came with a full interior and was a nice model. Another was the 1/350 Pola Italian ship for £12 - that was quite basic but a little scratch building and a little bit of PE and it was still a bargain compared to Trumpeter's sister ship kit at nearly £70. My other fav is the 1/16 Tiger.

    It is strange that they give you the fighter-bomber version but do not include bombs. The other odd thing is that the bomb racks are molded on instead of having them as separate parts. As a fighter or night fighter, the racks would have been removed. That really was an unfortunate decision by Hobby Boss. But I would imagine that the target audience for these kits would not care about any of that. For anybody who has any basic knowledge of the BF-110, I would not recommend this kit at all.

      There are contemporary photos of the night fighter variant with the antenna array on the nose and the bomb rack attached. Just look up the article of the bf110 in wikipedia, there are 3 photos just on that one page showing both. Just because you think it is silly doesn't mean it actually is.

    • @mtaylor44
      @mtaylor44 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_Jester_ The Wiki photos are of the G version night fighter, which is not the subject of this model. And some of those photos are post-war captured aircraft being evaluated. The G- version with the antennae used the rack for an aux. fuel tank, not for bombs. It was plumbed for fuel. It was a night fighter, not a night fighter-bomber. The E version's ETO rack was not plumbed at all. Look up photos taken during the war of Bf 110E night fighters assigned to night fighter units. Just a quick check only shows a slick fuselage; no ETO rack. Maybe you will find such photos of a Bf-110E and I could be wrong. If you do I hope you provide the link or source.

  • @lippyfrybender4622
    @lippyfrybender4622 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The bomb racks could be used for fuel tanks .
    I presume it's Me110 E/F
    So it's a fighter long range and could carry bombs but
    Was not really a nightfigher.

    Hobby Boss Easy kits are...way too easy. They are like, in between a normal kit, and Airfix Quickbuild kits. I don't like them very much, I have build a few (Aircobra, Mustang). If you are gonna build it, do the NF version (and look in your spares box for a decent MG34)) :D

    Some of the Hobby Boss kits are more accurate than others. The rear gun on the Bf-110 does look very over scale compared to actual photos of the aircraft - which look about 50% shorter

    Edit: Ok, it's like 12 Euros here in the Netherlands. Seems a little overpriced. On the other hand: it's a twin engine fighter...

    The MG is too big, but at least slightly better than the one in my Airfix Bf 110 (02006), where the MG reminds me of a kind of piping, but the Airfix molding is also 62 years old and not 8 years.

    I bought the Hobbyboss 1:72 easy build f6f Hellcat when I got back into modelling about 8 years ago and I couldn't believe how simple it was.
    They might as well have built it for me as there was only about 8 parts in the whole kit. Very disappointing indeed, and needless to say I've never bought another Hobbyboss easy build kit since .
    Firmly on my 'stay away from' list, along with old vintage Airfix and anything with Shitaleri written on the box,, (unless it's another manufacturers kit in it!)

      That’s a bit harsh . Maybe avoid the easy build hobbyboss👍. The Italeri 1/72 F-35 is brilliant, so much so Tamiya reboxed it. The Hobbyboss 1/72 Hawker Seahawk is beautiful.

    3C+AR is pretty well known from air to air footage for a propaganda film, it didnt have radar fitted, but it also didnt have the bomb racks either but rather a mounting for drop tanks closer to the nacelles like later variants and capped prop hubs, but I think thats getting a bit picky for who this kit is aimed at.
