Disagree on the AI call center that people want “the answer quickly “ from a bot. I will frequently end up going with service x vs y solely based on the fact I was able to quickly reach a human being that could speak to me with a baseline of competence on the service.
Much like the WFH discussion, it’s the only time I get disappointed by the besties. It’s not their fault, they are just completely disconnected from reality.
1) There is a portion of the customer base that always messages or calls Customer Care INSTEAD of finding the information they need on the company website. AI bots will eliminate these interactions with human agents. That's a win for AI use. 2) If it is a straight forward transaction, then it is ALREADY being handled through a portal on the company website or a mobile app. AI wasn't needed for that. "I don't want to talk to a human to change my flight." I get it. You didn't think this comment through because you were riffing and trying to hype this up. "Kicking it up to a Tier Two rep" is what happens now for transactions that are too complicated to be handled online or with a chat bot. Complex situations involve a review of the account history. What will it cost to have AI "reason" through that? Is this really cheaper and easier than an offshore phone agent that manually bounces between a bunch of applications? Instant language translation and accent neutralization is a reality with AI. That's the real impact of AI in the contact center space. This enables offshoring to poorer countries than India at lower billing rates. WIN? And lastly, irate customers want to yell at a person. They also want discretion used in handling their escalation. If you are keeping around a skeleton crew of Tier Two agents and spending more money on additional IT infrastructure then I don't see the point.
Chamath is correct about Elon Derangement Syndrome. I am not even a fan of his trip down the conspiratorial right-wing political rabbit hole... but it is insane for the govt to sacrifice the rural people who they supposedly want to help, not to mention the billions of taxpayer money, because they refuse to work with the guy who could actually solve the problem.
I am a fan of his trip down the conspiratorial rabbit hole. What do you think he is wrong about? Do you think that the world’s richest man and clearly a one in a million genius is wrong about his outlook on society? If so would love to hear some examples, truly.
There's a very long list of things Elon Musk has been wrong about. These are all direct quotes from him of things he was wrong about I picked out of a post that has literally hundreds of them “I feel very confident predicting autonomous robotaxis for Tesla next year (2020)." “probably close to zero new cases” of covid-19 in the U.S. “by the end of April. (2020)" “In ~2 years, summon should work anywhere connected by land & not blocked by borders, eg you’re in LA and the car is in NY" "SpaceX will take CO2 out of atmosphere & turn it into rocket fuel." "Speed will double to ~300Mb/s & latency will drop to ~20ms later this year" (In reference to Starlink, back in 2021) The list goes on and on. Ofc he has a lot of merit but even inside the domain of his companies his been very very wrong before. Being good at start-ups and innovative ideas doesn't mean you know everything.
I think this needs to be discussed more. I think the wealth gap will be further aggravated by the rise of AI, and I think the main problem will just how quickly AI tools take over. Humans take longer to learn skills, retool, and pivot to new ventures. I know my parents struggle, and when I was very young with few skills it was a struggle. Now I'm an engineer and successful, but I'd hate to be too young or too old when AI starts taking over those easy tools. Again, I think it's that the rate of improvement of humans is very different from the AI tools.
@@vladimirleon2487 that’s the point I was eventually getting to. Not everyone has the time or the intelligence to keep shifting between skills and up and coming careers like front line workers will be doing in this situation. I’m sure some could learn harder skills but that would be what, 30 to 40% best case scenario?
I don’t believe it. It’s an excuse to lay off people while claiming innovation. Every AI “call center” equivalent I have interacted with has been terrible.
History Lesson - Remember "Shovel Ready Jobs"? They spent almost 2 yrs writing the "requirements" for the "acceptable design criteria" before any projects could be bid because the existing FHWA and DOT weren't "good enough" (although projects had been built successfully with them for years). This eliminated the "shovel ready" part of the program, and actually delayed the construction because projects that were ready to bid were held up to qualify for the Federal dollars.
You know you're losing when you blame "the media" for reporting the things your candidate actually does. Especially when the most popular cable network is a non-stop propaganda machine for said candidate.
Oh so the other 5 “news”channels that have spewed non stop lies are justified because orange man bad? You know you’re losing when Kamala has to hide in the basement because she’s worse than Joe off script. I have eyes and ears and I’ve had them this entire time and the gaslighting is front and center. Nobody is buying this nonsense anymore, Sir. We had 4 years of Trump, no new wars, and democracy was just fine. Come back with some facts, otherwise wake up.
I think the complaint is they only report 1 way. This is ABC, NBC wjicj are public and free channels for everyone. Fox news is a separate category, more inline with comedy central(jon stewart), HBO(john oliver) amd MSNBC. So I think its a valid criticism that they report positively on harris waaay too much
I never miss an appearance of Jeffery Sachs. I actively search him out to get his take on international conflict, foreign policy and economy. He just knows his stuff and he knows a lot. Mearsheimer is an invaluable expert on these topics as well, I’m a fan of both.
All this AI talk for years now and all they can pull out is how we’re going to get rid of customer support. A job that’s already been ran by bots and $5/hr workers in India for years. Give me a damn break
dropping “rich Nigerian prince” jokes like we’re all still checking our Hotmail inbox in 2002. Bro, the only scam here is your sense of humor, which apparently got stuck back when dial-up was still a thing.
JCal: "So what do you do with all the call center workers? Switch them to sales?" Sacks: "Actually I think sales gets replaced by AI next." One thing that keeps coming up in these AI discussions is that no one really has a plan for what to do with all the workers who are replaced by AI. What are these people supposed to do when AI can eventually take the place of millions of white collar workers, and Elon's robots can do most of the physical blue collar work? Leaders need to be coming up with actual plans because it's happening, fast.
Oh great, now there's one more layer until I get to talk to a real person who can actually do anything, now I have to beg the AI to let me through. What an upgrade!!
I do think JCal was right though in that most people would prefer to not have to talk to a human for basic service. For example I recently cancelled a credit card. In the past I had to go through a person who was paid to try and convince me why I shouldn't cancel the card or switch to a different one. It was like a gauntlet. This time, an AI assistant handled it and it was quick and easy.

Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!

Imagine your call center job getting replaced by a bot, and the government's throwing billions to 'fix' rural internet that Starlink's already fixed. It's a comedy of errors-and we’re all watching. we’re all paying for it!

Jason nailed it at the end saying that 1% of people are mentally ill. This is understating it if anything. This isn't just some estimate. Then you've got to realize that 1% of those 1% are capable of extreme violence. You can't just keep riling people up with language that could be interpreted by 1 in in 10,000 people as a call to violence because that's what you'll get. It’s a reminder of the importance of finding ways to create financial opportunities. You've helped me a lot sir Brian! Imagine i invested $50,000 and received $190,500 after 14 days
Absolutely! Profits are possible, especially now, but complex transactions should be handled by experienced market professionals.
Some persons think inves'tin is all about buying stocks; I think going into the stock market without a good experience is a big risk, that's why I'm lucky to have seen someone like mr Brian C Nelson.
Finding yourself a good broker is as same as finding a good wife, which you go less stress, you get just enough with so much little effort at things
Brian demonstrates an excellent understanding of market trends, making well informed decisions that leads to consistent profit
Not sure if you guys read the comments but it’s almost comforting listening to your pod every Friday and hearing rational discussion about important issues. And then knowing some of you disagree with each other and you can all still be friends in the end, is the cherry on top. America needs to get back to this. Bravo 👏
The Fed's talk of interest rate cut leaves me pondering what stocks to buy now and when do I sell? I'm unsure how to properly allocate my money to achieve an optimal portfolio in this present economy, my goal is $3m for retirement.
navigating market volatility can be challenging, it might be beneficial consulting with an advisor to provide personalized insights based on your specific situation and financial position
True, I always emphasize the significance of having an advisor. This has kept me afloat since the covid-19 outbreak and as of today, I'm just about 10% shy of my first million dollar after subsequent investments.

Alesia Haas is also my trade analyst, she has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns.

Consider Glenn Loury as all in guest. Fits in the category of “should be more known” as an accomplished economist and conservative thinker with excellent nuance in his social issue perspective.
Agree, he is an economist with a clear view on social issues
Disagree on the AI call center that people want “the answer quickly “ from a bot. I will frequently end up going with service x vs y solely based on the fact I was able to quickly reach a human being that could speak to me with a baseline of competence on the service.
Much like the WFH discussion, it’s the only time I get disappointed by the besties. It’s not their fault, they are just completely disconnected from reality.
The key words being: base competence. And AI is quickly gaining ground.
Disagree. CSRs can’t even answer simple questions or perform the most basic tasks anymore. It’s unacceptable.
AI customer service is waaaay better then human. way better
Chamath licking his lips to rip off retail investors again!!
This unbelievable incompetence by the federal government results in billions of wasted taxpayer dollars.
These are all direct quotes from him of things he was wrong about I picked out of a post that has literally hundreds of them
“I feel very confident predicting autonomous robotaxis for Tesla next year (2020)."
“probably close to zero new cases” of covid-19 in the U.S. “by the end of April. (2020)"
“In ~2 years, summon should work anywhere connected by land & not blocked by borders, eg you’re in LA and the car is in NY"
"SpaceX will take CO2 out of atmosphere & turn it into rocket fuel."
"Speed will double to ~300Mb/s & latency will drop to ~20ms later this year" (In reference to Starlink, back in 2021)
The list goes on and on.
Ofc he has a lot of merit but even inside the domain of his companies his been very very wrong before. Being good at start-ups and innovative ideas doesn't mean you know everything.
Freidbergs founder mode gives him the munchies 😂😂😂
Do they ever discuss what the displaced workers are going to do? I can’t imagine a call center worker has many options.
luckily AI can teach
The market will come up with companies designed to retool people
@@Aedonius that sounds hopeful given how many people could be out of the job in such a short period of time.
Can a person react having survived 2 assassination attempts? He is still human. The level of risk is off the charts.

Main stream media sucks.
So I think its a valid criticism that they report positively on harris waaay too much
Don't let them hurt your faith in your political religion.
It does seem that Sachs doesn't think FOX is a part of the mainstream media. :-)
First, Friedberg, then Chamat. I expected a post-credit solo by Sachs saying MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
LOVE LOVE Love the idea of the “wasteful spending” list on the all in podcast. Everyone need to know about them if we want it to change!!
Agree. AI way over hyped

his hair look bad tho
Hair looks fine, stop hating bruh
JCal: "So what do you do with all the call center workers? Switch them to sales?" Sacks: "Actually I think sales gets replaced by AI next." One thing that keeps coming up in these AI discussions is that no one really has a plan for what to do with all the workers who are replaced by AI. What are these people supposed to do when AI can eventually take the place of millions of white collar workers, and Elon's robots can do most of the physical blue collar work? Leaders need to be coming up with actual plans because it's happening, fast.
The show must go on!!

The government, over time, need to be separated from the economy.
That is not cannabis behind Freedburg…potatoes
I’ve been refreshing my feed today waiting for this episode to drop
Oh great, now there's one more layer until I get to talk to a real person who can actually do anything, now I have to beg the AI to let me through. What an upgrade!!
I do think JCal was right though in that most people would prefer to not have to talk to a human for basic service. For example I recently cancelled a credit card. In the past I had to go through a person who was paid to try and convince me why I shouldn't cancel the card or switch to a different one. It was like a gauntlet. This time, an AI assistant handled it and it was quick and easy.
Have you talked to open ai voice on your phone or pc? I’m genuinely curious
The $50b waste on rural internet and charging stations should tell everyone just how incompetent our government truly is.
Chamath is looking absolutely BAKED lol
This country is already bankrupt.
Only financially and morally.
We all know VC fund owners don't optimize for returning LPs money. they optimize for fee generation for themselves. This podcast should be renamed 4 pots calling all of the other kettles black
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!
YES

Interestingly, JCal and Sacks discussing the election segment alone was far more respectful both ways than when all 4 are on.
JD Vance show was outstanding simply based on the IQ power, live shows like that demonstrate hisi grasp of economic and all subject matter. Walz would poop himself and Harris would try to cackle her way of the discussion
This episode is the most informative episode, will need to review multiple times.
Thanks guys
Funny to see how audience capture is happening in real time… praying for Friedberg
Rich guy syndrome on steroids, 65 percent of people are pinched hard on prices
Elon paid back the loan from the government early, with interest, and actually had to pay a penalty for paying early.
Imagine your call center job getting replaced by a bot, and the government's throwing billions to 'fix' rural internet that Starlink's already fixed. It's a comedy of errors-and we’re all watching. we’re all paying for it!
100% off grid rural laptop class worker. Don't even have good cell signal. Starlink is ESSENTIAL! We should get a tax credit for rural folks who pay for their own? I'd buy another water tank or some more batteries for my solar with it. There's your infrastructure baby.

Chamath is glowing ✨
Is that why customer service is going down the toilet lately?
Most call centers are from voices of people that are overseas like India and Philippines.
It's like how automakers have to do recall when there's a safety issue that could affect 1 in 10,000 cars when there are millions of those cars on the road.
Wow Chamath - what an awesome take - we don't know if $50 million is a lot of money for the government anymore - we have all become so desensitized.

She lied about the gun stuff and isn't moderate on that issue. She said she's right to go into people's homes to check on responsible ownership and called for an assault weapon ban.
These guys are all working towards removing most of the good paying middle class/ upper middle class job. And the "mid" people in the comment thread just keep on hero worshipping them. Its like bunch of cows admiring the steak recipe of a chef.
Respect to Jason at the end for acknowledging that some of Kamala's attacks on trump were not based in fact (bloodbath, good people on both sides, ect) and that they were not fact checked by the moderators. That takes a lot of intellectual integrity.
One of the moderators of the recent debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Linsey Davis, is a sorority sister of Kamala Harris. Both are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA). Harris became a member while attending Howard University, and Davis joined during her time at the University of Virginia. While they are sorority sisters, they joined different chapters at different times and did not know each other personally before the debate
Somebody needs to be fact-checking Sacks.
thanks for this. what about the thing about the moderators wrong on fact checking trump. Was that accurate?
@@DavidSilvaSmith good question. Either way, super ridiculous and if a cat did get eaten, it would still be insanely hyperbolic to make it into a thing on a national stage. So absurd that it would be in a debate. :-) dealing with such clowns.
