Thinking like that is exactly why shootings like this happen and will continue to happen. It's the same thought process as saying people commit or attempt suicide just because they were weak and should have valued their lives without knowing what their lives entailed. Depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, addiction, and PTSD are all established and studied terms by neuroscientists and psychologists for a reason.
First of all, after reading many of the comments on this topic its easy to see why this country is in bad shape... opinions based on supposition and prejudice rather than facts. This was a tragedy that more than likely could have been prevented if ADULTS had done their "jobs". Jobs as school staff; acting In Loco Parentis (in place of the parents), the school administration, the actual parents of the shooter, and the parents of the bullies. I'm not justifying or condoning what the shooter did. But if he had committed suicide as a result of the bullying, there'd be an outpouring of sympathy and cries to the effect "we have to stop the bullying". There lays the problem... lots of talk and little to no action to stop bullying. Just because it's always existed isn't reason to let it continue. Just as there are federal laws on a myriad of topics, there ought to be a federal anti bullying statute(s) with penalties stiff enough to eventually stop it. Suspensions and expulsions. Involvement of the juvenile courts. Even civil damages against the parents of the bullies. I don't know of any school that doesn't have rules for conduct and behavior. Students can't smoke, drink alcohol, engage in graffiti, etc... if they do, they are disciplined. Discipline the bullies as well.

People always want answers on videos, but sometimes you have to do research if you really want to know more about a person. I seen other news footage that the suspect was horribly bullied. All I'm saying is this bullying issue needs to be addressed too within the school. I don't condone what he did in fact I'm sad for these victims 😔 This isn't just about mental health issues. I was bullied in school and that and my life at home was very traumatizing. I'm still dealing with issues years later.

A 7 minute response time to an active shooter call at a school is absolutely horrendous. Whatever jurisdiction that school is in needs more patrol officers, period. I guarantee those officers were driving as fast as possible and faster than they ever have, and still 7 minutes away.
This is a real problem, in my county a lady got raped and had her feet cut and dumped on the side of the road after she called 911 for help and was told by the lady dispatcher that everyone was busy and she had no cops to send to help her and she should just try to tell her attacker to leave.....
