I just found your TH-cam channel and I can’t be more happier. I am an incoming first-year at UVA and was really stressed about everything. I don’t want to miss out on any events or opportunities. Just hoping conditions get better so I can come on ground.
ah thank you so much for watching & sticking around! i totally understand the feeling like you're missing out with all of this - stay strong & know that everyone is all in this together! i'm PRAYING we can all come back in the fall!!
I stumbled upon this video and it made me so nostalgic for my years at UVA! I lived in Courtenay as an RA in 2007/2008 and we would go to Runk all the time since we were close to it! It is the superior dining hall and makes living out there totally worth it.
hi Meghan! awesome video. quick question: do u have any friends with experience going through the RA application process? how was it? i’ve heard u need leadership position (just got one!!), any other tips?
hi!! i just talked to my friend's sister (who was an RA) & she said that you automatically get a first round interview as soon as you submit your application. she said to focus on how your RA impacted you, why you want to be an RA, and what positive change you could bring to grounds and your hall community. hope that helps & good luck!!!!
yeah i definitely feel like that is the case 90% of the time. if they are listed as staff, i would just pick someone and then maybe hope that you can switch into a different section when you actually get to the class?? that's what i've done & usually it's been fine. i totally agree that the class can 100% change depending on the TA, which definitely sucks.
@@MeganKelleher I got accepted to the Comm school as a 3rd year transfer from a community college in NYC. I can’t decide whether I should attend UVa or not. How is the Comm school im general? Is it easy/doable to maintain a 4.0 GPA there? Thank you!
@@shujayethossain6554 hahha definitely not easy to maintain a 4.0 gpa at all, but also if you get into comm, you'll do well there! i have never learned more in 2 years and comm helped me get the job that i did!!
No not at all! I would say about 25-30% do! A solid majority lives off grounds after first year, but on grounds housing is still available to second year students and upperclassmen.
Hey!! Im a rising senior and I Love all your videos- been watching for a bit ever since I seriously started considering UVA❤️❤️ Do you think I could maximize my chance of getting in as OOS by applying ED. It’s seriously my dream school but I’m super nervous coming from out of state. Not sure if you have any knowledge about this topic, but anything I’m sure would be helpful!!
thanks so much for watching :) totally agree with nicole!! financials are definitely something to consider because i'm pretty sure that you're more locked in on the price. if you're ED, but it definitely increases your chances & it's nice that you'll know earlier too!
I literally move into the UVA in TWO WEEKS!! This video definitely relieved some stress, thank you so much! 💛
YAYYYYY you’re going to love it :)

Just as a reminder to my fellow first years, we will not have bins or helpers to move stuff in, so try to pack things in boxes!

Megan Kelleher thanks!!
also is there any way to pick a TA? it seems they’re always listed as Staff and u just get what you get...

Is there a bed already in the dorm when a student moves in?
yes all of the furniture is already in the dorm! but you aren’t assigned a bed!

Hey Megan, so basically second year students can’t live on campus?
No not at all! I would say about 25-30% do! A solid majority lives off grounds after first year, but on grounds housing is still available to second year students and upperclassmen.
@@MeganKelleher Ohh ok, thank you for clarifying!

sophie radke i applied ED! and yes, it had a higher acceptance rate. you should go for it (while considering financials)
