      Do you wash in warm water ? Every time I see you wash before an event...the "that's cold" subtitle pops up ?@@ashleyharrisoneventing

    So lovely to see 3 friends competing against each other and supporting each other. Even nicer to all come home with rosettes. Well done you all. Erol is improving so much. Enjoy your friendships and horses. Life moves on much too fast. Enjoy every minute x

    Erol’s movement is gorgeous, bright bright future

    Lovely young horse, developing a really sweet way of going. As someone who spends practically every weekend writing for BD/BE/FEI dressage, for a high scoring G+R the judge wants to see a clear release forward, towards the bit, with a visible (momentary) loop in the rein/s. Too many people who do the ‘hands up the crest’ G+R, maintain a contact with the bit and don’t actually offer a true release.

    • @fleetskipper1810
      @fleetskipper1810 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also have scribed, and I agree with your comment. The judges want to see a loop in the reins. Otherwise, they consider the release to be incomplete.

    Great job all! Erol did so well… they grow up so fast. You kept saying you threw him in the deep end with all the conditions at first dressage test, but Erol seemed to thrive… like a kid jumping off the diving board. You should be PROUD of his mindset and effort. More muscles 💪 will definitely improve the behind the vertical. 👏👏👏

    Lovely young horse, with beautiful paces. He'll score very well in future when he's stronger.
    It's great you have allowed him to mature in his own time, and not pushed hard for the young horse classes.

    Little tip . Before the bell goes have a trot around the arena on both reins so he’s gets more confident. He is going to be fab the more he matures .

    Well done Izzy for a lovely second test! Tiny doesn’t look like the easiest ride (nothing worse than a lazy thoroughbred, I have one myself 🤦‍♀️) but she rides him well and he goes very sweetly for her 🥰

    Congratulations everyone! Well done on the Dressage outings. Looking forward to seeing how everyone goes after the schooling.
    Not sure if you have access to this in the UK but perhaps attending a dressage judges seminar might be useful to understand what the judges are looking for.
    As a former Elementary level Dressage judge I understood the comments you received in the first test. The release of rein (please confirm with your local rules) needs to show a loop in the rein.
    What can happen is the horse follows your hand keeping the contact, which isn't what they were looking for. They want the horse to remain in frame without the contact. It's designed to 'test' if the horse is on the bit via the hand or seat. It can be difficult to see sometimes... I think the judge may have not seen from the right angle.
    I'm sure you're across all of this. You're doing a great job! Erroll is a sweetheart and has a big future. Hope you didn't mind the 2 cents worth (2 bobs worth?).

    Hi! I’m a trainee BD judge - r.e the give and retake you need to release the contact, at the mo you show a slight rein release but it needs to be really clear break in contact - full description in BD handbook

    • @lucygrimshaw8796
      @lucygrimshaw8796 ปีที่แล้ว

      I (being not a judge or trainee judge or anything lol) was wondering if the hands needed to stay lower to show more of a release in contact - Ashley's hands seemed to go more upwards so although she moved forward a lot she still maintained a similar contact - is that the same as what you're saying? (if I've made any sense at all haha!)

    • @dressage_fever6175
      @dressage_fever6175 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucygrimshaw8796 it isn’t specified hands low or high - most important thing is to release the contact (the actual slack on rein between hand and bit) so easier way is hand forward.

    • @lucygrimshaw8796
      @lucygrimshaw8796 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dressage_fever6175 Oh yes sorry I just meant in this case it seems like the reason Ashley doesn't get slack is because she goes upwards as much as forwards I think. Thanks for your reply!

    Wow!! He is stunning and you can tell he's going to be amazing! Even if he's behind the bit..a bit, I'd take that over a nose in the air any day!! He's a gorgeous mover and the talent is right there! He just needs some experience! My old jumper used to dump me in the dirt at the sight of a sun spot on the ground!! lol I thought you did a great job!! Congrats!!

    Was the second judge an eventing judge? Mostly ask because 70s are a bit on the high side for you strictly dressage judges, especially with the mistakes. I've found eventing dressage judges much more generous with their marks, but well done to all.

    Ash, I know 'advice' is a pain and I normally don't do it but I wonder if your dressage would benefit from letting your stirrups down (then you'd have more leg length against the horse). The stirrup height you and the other riders were using appeared to be jumping length. Tell me to shut up if you don't agree.
