Workbench Clamp System DIY that's fast and easy to make

- In this diy project I needed some sort of fast clamp system for my workbench.
Holdfast clamps seemed the most practical solution, so I planned a system that could work both horizontally and vertically.
I did this woodworking project with some scrap hardwood and some basic tools.
I also recycled some aluminum tubes from a broken trekking stick.
I had some issues due to the fact that I haven't consider the lack of friction between the tubes, but I found a solution to fix my mistake who worked well.
This clamp system will help me a lot when I need to work on medium size wood boards.

I hope that jig for holding the drill wit the sander disc is coming as a video as well, I imagine it having lots of uses with several attachments for th drill
Let's say it's a prototype, I made it in 10 minutes because i needed a quick sander, but I have few ideas in mind

I was looking for a way to turn the desk into a small workbench, and this is a discreet solution. I have an upgrade in mind, we'll see what I can do 😉

Saluting your work. I wonder if the the tubes are strong enough for long use? I plan to use steel tubes from curtain rod set (IKEA).
As I explained at the end of the video, I recommend using wooden dowels instead of metal tubes, due to the little friction that metal provides. I have been using this system for more than two years and it has not given me any problems. Thanks for your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
@@LTMStrue that, but for me it is easier to use a 19mm steel tube than to make a 19mm wooden rod at the moment 😀
Hardware store usually have 20mm available, if not go ahead with the metal one and than scrape it with some 60 grit sand paper as I did for mine@@GIBBGalek
Very clever. But fast and easy? No.
Indeed there are quite a few steps to do, but nothing too difficult, just have a little patience.
