Agreed. The orders aren't as important unless it's key for one or two turns where you are moving the Basilisk. One scenario is in which you don't want to spend 1 CP for Expert Bombardiers, your Scout Sentinels are destroyed, and you have Lord Solar or a Tank Commander. You could then move your Basilisks so that they have LOS after ordering them to Take Aim. That would allow them to hit on 3's with LOS and not automatically grant cover without terrain to the target unit. But that doesn't come up that often, but it is feasible to get more damage when the situation warrants it.
Love the list! Two traditional Platoons (with their supporting Sentinels), some artillery, an aircraft and a big tank. It fits the narrative perfectly and looks great fun to play with and against. To be fair, if you swapped the Earthshakers for Field Ordinance Batteries, and the Thunderbolt for a Valkyrie, you could recreate this list using two Combat Patrols and a couple of extra purchases. Great job 👍

BTW I never liked the look of the ‘Dawn before.. but pairing it up with the Thunderbolt really doubles down on the ‘Americans in Space’ aesthetic and totally works wonders. Late to the party, but Basilisks don't need the +1 BS as much, they are bs 4 by default where the earthshaker platforms are bs 5
