For some reason, gaming chair enthusiasts seem to hate Herman Miller chairs with a passion. You'll often see their comments ranging from "their chairs are overrated" to "gaming chairs are better than these chairs for work/gaming". I don't want to sound rude, but I won't be surprised if it's because they genuinely can't afford these chairs (even though refurbished ones are available) and are therefore jealous of anyone showcasing them in a video.
Love the Cosm. Truly feels like you’re floating on air. Superior smooth movement when leaning back or even to the sides. But, it’s quite hard to stay in a lean back position, you really have to tense your legs to do it or put them up on something.
I had an Aeron classic in the office but once work from home home kicked in it wasn't too long until I decided a footstool wasn't going to cut it and I bought a remastered for myself. While I know the mesh can be a little polarizing, for anyone who does like the mesh style, there is no better chair out there.
actually didn't know the Mirra 2 had asynchronous tension/depth lumbar, like the Haworth Zody. definetely one of the most elusive features in ergonomic chairs and I particularly like it in the Zody for my herniated disc (which extrudes to one of the sides of my back).
As of Oct 2022, the Celle was no longer offered in the HM store. I assume it was discontinued in between when this video was made. Bought a used one for an employee. Found it very cheap actually and WAY better than her standard chair. I also assume betwen this video was made (Feb 2021) and today Jan 2023, there have been several price hikes, because those prices are no longer current. Big difference thoughh!
There is something VERY IMPORTANT you missed when reviewing these chairs... Herman Miller chairs designs chairs with a clear idea of who would be using them. For example, the Embody Chair was built around the needs of gamers, programmers and those who work exclusively with computers. It was specifically designed to appeal to computer types who hate the Aeron. The Aeron and Embody chairs are designed for someone who is going to sit for most of the day--six plus hours. The other chairs were designed for people who will sit for shorter periods of time. The Cosm chair was designed for the C-Suite. The other chairs were designed for people who are going to use them for less than six hours a day.
Honestly didn’t like the aeron or the embody. I feel as if I fight the chairs every time I sit in them. I have a fern and a think coming soon to try out so hopefully those are better.
@@Dr.Smelly I think the Fern is a fine chair. I like the fact that there are many great chairs to choose from. I like the fact that Haworth has showrooms, that you can see and sit in the chair before you buy. Like HermanMiller, Haworth stands behind its products. It was on my shortlist when I was looking for an office chair last November. I have chronic upper back problems and very broad shoulders. I found that the Fern chair did not provide enough upper back support for me. I had no problem with the fact that the Aeron chair forces you to sit a particular way (fairly upright, feet flat on the floor). If you don't like to sit that way, you are absolutely going to hate the Aeron. Again, I have a bad back and this chair provides the support and the adjustability I need. I found that, if you aren't familiar with the Aeron chair, you really do need to go to a HermanMiller showroom. You definitely need someone who knows how to fit this chair in order to appreciate it. Frankly, when I was looking at chairs, the Aeron was not on my shortlist. I haven't had a problem with my chronic upper back injury since purchasing the Aeron. Your mileage may vary. If I had to choose between the Fern chair and the Embody chair, I would go with the Fern. These are great chairs, but I like the Fern's back more than the Embody. Had I purchased the Fern, I'm sure I would have been very happy with it. I highly recommend visiting showrooms and checking out chairs. What works for one person does not necessarily work for another. Expect to spend north of 1k, approaching 2k, for a great office chair. It's an investment you will not regret. When I have friends over, I wheel my Aeron chair into my living room. Yes, my sofa is comfortable--my friends can have that. For me, my office chair is the most comfortable chair in the house--and that's my throne.
Just got my Aeron Remastered and it's amazing. the recline is god tier. I've had no problems with the seat as it fits me and I want to sit in a correct posture.
Hi I'd like to get your thoughts on the Lino vs the Series 2 as far as comfort goes, price not a factor just comfort, for a WFH chair 8-10hr work days, I'm 5'10 200lbs, thank you
I hate mesh, not only it's firm and uncomfortable, the material irritates my skin when I wear shorts. May have to look into Hayworth for the recline function as an alternative.
I love the aeron back rest and seat and I liked the chair but I had so much neck and back pain. I experienced the same thing in the embody. I like both the chairs but both hurt me to sit in. I tried to adjust everything not only on the chairs but on my desk as well. Nothing worked chairs are getting sent back and I’m trying the think and the fern! In my opinion The embody is overrated though the pixels on the back I couldn’t really feel but in the middle of the backrest it always felt like a fist was pushing into my back and not supporting the rest.
My honest opinion on X-Chair is that there are better chairs for the price you are paying. The one model we had through our office was around $900 and tested as one of the least comfortable chairs that we have tested. -RB
I have an Aeron at work and an Embody at home. After a year of lockdown driven work from home, I'm going to try to convince my boss that I need the upgrade. It's a fine example of getting what you pay for.
Only a couple have off brand headrests, but these chairs are worth it. They get rid of back pain and are insanely comfortable along with them lasting for decades.
I purchased an Aeron (mesh) back in the early 2000s and in less than a year the mesh had stretched to the point that when I sat down my butt was hitting the top of the gear box below. They did a complimentary repair at my home by replacing the mesh seat material but I felt the unit was doomed for future issues and ended up returning it to the dealer with a 25% restocking fee. My weight/height was still valid for the model I got but there was a larger model available. The chair is still popular today (though I think the looks and comfort overrides any longevity concerns which is a wrong approach) and recommended. Whether they or others such as this X1 have solved the stretching over time remains to be seen. I will not be buying another mesh chair again.
I had a Herman Miller Chair for several years and loved it. My one complaint was, after a few years the arm rest height adjustment lock didn't work anymore. I contacted the company and they agreed to fix my chair. All I needed to do was give them the model number, the proof of purchase and the year the chair was manufactured. I didn't have the purchase receipt and couldn't find any markings or label on the chair that gave me the information they needed. I called the company back and told them what I was faced with. They told me I had to have that information or there was nothing they could do for me. I was told to look for a printed label on the chair and get the information from that. No such label was on the chair. No markings, no labeling. I told them I'd gladly pay out of pocket and not expect a warranty repair; I just wanted the chair fixed. "I'm sorry sir, without that information there's nothing we can do. I was P'd. A twelve year warranty. You have to have info from a stuck on label. There was no other markings anywhere on the chair. That label could have fallen off and gotten swept away well within that twelve years. Slick warranty, Herman Miller.

That is a heck of an upgrade! Nice! -GK
What he said about the recline of Aeron is true, it is the most comfortable one I even had
It’s one of the best, if not the best for that!

I’m about 6’3 190 pounds, the Mirra 2 is the comfiest office chair I’ve ever sat on. The adjustable thigh option is so neat to have with my long legs.

What about the Verus? I can’t really find much online about it? Do you have experience with it?
if the armrests swivel, can they be locked? My Ikea chair has swiveling armrests and they annoy me when they move during the excitement.
Nice video if they made an aeron with the flexibility of the embody and the height of the cosm I would pay the 1500
The price would more likely increase to around 2500 with upgrades like that
Just got my Aeron Remastered and it's amazing. the recline is god tier. I've had no problems with the seat as it fits me and I want to sit in a correct posture.
Same, correct posture then comfort.
I may surprise some people but using both the aero and mirra 2 for long hours i prefer the mirra 2.
Thank you I was about buy the Sayl, but I don't spend 650 euro for a chair with an hard seat :)
I’ve sat in it and it’s not a hard seat, I actually find it more comfortable than the aeron
Does anyone have experience with Celle? How hard is the backrest? I'm currently looking for used and it is 235 CAD.

I sometimes feel as though the lumbar support of the embody ‘pokes’ my back. Any idea how to combat that?
@@EXPLORIDIOTSFLORIDA you can change the overall curvature of the back, but not the lumbar independently
Can you check the weight limits? I thought chairs like the embody and sayl were rated for 300lbs
Which would you recommend for someone dealing with a tailbone and neck injury?
I'd say Aeron and buy a headrest from a third party and I recommend the Atlas headrest if you want your head supported
do you ship to Malta ?
Another great video but I was hoping to see the Setu or your take on it.
Thank you! Unfortunately, the Setu is not a product we have plans to bring in for review -GK
The Setu seems more like a side hair, like the Caper, and not a full-fledged office chair like the ones in this video.
Love these reviews! Any chance you could review the RH New Logic 220?
I hate mesh, not only it's firm and uncomfortable, the material irritates my skin when I wear shorts. May have to look into Hayworth for the recline function as an alternative.
A really comprehensive range review. Many thanks.
Glad it was helpful! -GK

Does Aron remaster have a headrest set?
Not from Herman Miller specifically. Need to get it off 3rd party sites such as Atlas
This video was worth every minute I spent watching it and making notes. I wish you were in Toronto.
Great review of all these. What are your honest thoughts on the X Chair 2? I've narrowed my choice the Aeron, Embody, and X Chair 2.
My honest opinion on X-Chair is that there are better chairs for the price you are paying. The one model we had through our office was around $900 and tested as one of the least comfortable chairs that we have tested. -RB
So what's the best one for a 5.4 short person
I hate that I only like the Embody, the most expensive one. 😭

best for studying?
Please review posh express from Herman Miller
Looking at these chairs now, and prices are 25%+ higher than the prices in this video. 😬
Inflation is a bitch.
Hmm, in Sweden the Celle is almost double the price whereat the Sayl has basically the same price as in the US, wonder why?
For the insane prices these chairs have, none has a headrest. How is this even possible? Can it be purchased separately?
Only a couple have off brand headrests, but these chairs are worth it. They get rid of back pain and are insanely comfortable along with them lasting for decades.
Are you going to review the AMQ line of chairs by Steelcase? Interested in the Zilo.
No immediate plans to review the Zilo chair. Thank you for the suggestion -GK
As always, an excellent and very helpful presentation.
Going to get a Sayl
why dont you post scores? It's easier for us to compare them
Thanks for the video. It's very helpful to learn the HM ranges.
You forgot to name the price of the Aeron!
Wbat is the price man
Thank you so much! You helped me a lot with youe detailed information!

4:18 adjushment
We did this drinking game. Shots when ever you say Herman Miller in this video. This is 4 Days later. I still did not fully recover.
Lame
suuuuuuper helpful!
LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
watching the review to imagine what it feels like sitting in COSM which I've just sold brand new in box as a cash out from my wfm benefits.
Anyone buy the Mirra 2
Yep
Why does none of these have a headrest? with that its kinda useless for me as a homeoffice/afterwork chair.
They're designed for office work lol, not for sleeping in.
BTW...
It's Hermann Miller
False. The official website clearly shows Herman Miller
"They're called *harbulary* batteries"
