To all who criticize this vid at first glance: In all honesty, I dont think this is meant to be a fighting technique. What I mean is, you won't pull this up in a fistfight where you are throwing hands already or about to. The coach's intention, in my point of view, is to show a way to get out of a menacing situation like a robbery. Reaching into his phone is just an example and probably a way to depict he is being robbed. It wouldnt make sense to go for your phone in a fight anyway, would it? Also, the helmet is set up high above possibly to depict the fact that the attacker is way bigger and thus you don't wan't to resort to punching him or things may end badly. I understand turning your back looks dangerous but A: he covers his neck after the spin (I think he does, at least), B: by doing so he achieves such a powerful hit. You won't elbow punch such a big guy with enough power in a face to face stance, and C: after the punch you are ready to run. Already facing away from your aggressor. If you try to run from a guy who's that close (and again, much taller so has a long reach) you should at least push him or he will simply catch you and you will be screwed. Anyway, I don't know this guy and you may very well be right about him. I'm just putting some thoughts together because it's always easy to criticize without knowing the actual context. Also, so sorry if my wording didnt make sense. English is not my mother language.

My cousin who is an amateur boxer, did this in similar situation, where the taller guy trying to get close to him talking shit. What he did is that he simultaneously push the guy with his left forearm while slipping to the right then quickly follows up with a right uppercut in the chin. The guy is taller than him, to be honest he did not manage to knockedout his opponent right away, hia opponent went down, but tried to get up, then my cousin followed up with some more combos to finish the fight. The guy did not go fully unconscious. My cousin is only a regional champion in amateur boxing here in our country.
Correct especially for beginners. It is not prudent to prioritize flashy techniques on the streets when it is higher risk and there are at least several higher percentage options available to neutralize your opponent.

To all who criticize this vid at first glance:
In all honesty, I dont think this is meant to be a fighting technique. What I mean is, you won't pull this up in a fistfight where you are throwing hands already or about to. The coach's intention, in my point of view, is to show a way to get out of a menacing situation like a robbery. Reaching into his phone is just an example and probably a way to depict he is being robbed. It wouldnt make sense to go for your phone in a fight anyway, would it? Also, the helmet is set up high above possibly to depict the fact that the attacker is way bigger and thus you don't wan't to resort to punching him or things may end badly. I understand turning your back looks dangerous but A: he covers his neck after the spin (I think he does, at least), B: by doing so he achieves such a powerful hit. You won't elbow punch such a big guy with enough power in a face to face stance, and C: after the punch you are ready to run. Already facing away from your aggressor. If you try to run from a guy who's that close (and again, much taller so has a long reach) you should at least push him or he will simply catch you and you will be screwed.
Anyway, I don't know this guy and you may very well be right about him. I'm just putting some thoughts together because it's always easy to criticize without knowing the actual context.

My cousin who is an amateur boxer, did this in similar situation, where the taller guy trying to get close to him talking shit. What he did is that he simultaneously push the guy with his left forearm while slipping to the right then quickly follows up with a right uppercut in the chin. The guy is taller than him, to be honest he did not manage to knockedout his opponent right away, hia opponent went down, but tried to get up, then my cousin followed up with some more combos to finish the fight. The guy did not go fully unconscious. My cousin is only a regional champion in amateur boxing here in our country.
