Nice en point chair of the review this week. Nice to get facts addressed, rather than boys jokes.
Very interesting article in Economist from an interview of one of the board directors from Open AI who sacked Sam A. It has taken a long time for this to come out but in short he was lying to the board. Now another two members with oversight have resigned. So Open AI have set up their own non independent committee to oversee the new launches, headed by Sam A.
The worrying thing about non arts based AI is that they do not know how these LLM models actually work. They just keep feeding the beast.
So the beast reports the rubbish it has digested, like in response to "How many rocks should i eat for a healthy diet , one small one" no of us presidents wrong, use glue to stick cheese covering to pizza etc etc
So given the lack of (current) oversight of LLM the best way for LLMs to be more accurate is to feed them better quality food. In this case there is a good reason on both sides to pay good sums / fees for quality content.
On the down side , the use of copyrighted material will result in more news media going behind paywalls to protect themselves.
The Pets at Home article was rather light. Having to be nudged re the expansion of the CMA investigation to the whole pets market is very significant. I would not bet on it being insignificant, tell that to CVS shareholders.
I vote keep Mark as chair ....
