    why the negatively charged always have low potential and positively charged has high potential???

    • @devanshi5181
      @devanshi5181 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Convention. All due to the old convention of physicists, that charge is due to the flow of protons, and hence should move from a positively charged body to a negatively charged body, and therefore the positively charged body is at a higher potential, and the negatively charged body is at a low potential.

    • @SelfGRow
      @SelfGRow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why electrons direction is not taken as direction of current.

    • @nanduribharathi9124

    Sir, I have a doubt on definition of potential difference or voltage? Everyone is stating there statement the potential difference or voltage- at any point in electric field is defined as the work done in moving a unit positive charge from infinite to that point against the electric field. Means if we bring a 1 coulomb of charge from infinite to in electric field,to moving this 1 coulomb of charge if 1 joule of energy consumed we called it 1volt or J/Q. Here my doubt is in nature or in conducting materials all the atoms are in Neutral or zero net charge so how electric field created and where the positive charge came for moving to electric field.

    sir i cannot understand the concept of of potential difference can u please explain it again

    • @samhj3968
      @samhj3968 7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Imagine this when the negative charge is expelled from the negative terminal moving to the positive terminal it starts to lose electric potential energy and gain work as we p.e=K.e same as the water when it start moving fro. A higher point it loses gravitational potential energy and gains kinetic energy due to its movement. So when the water was at the highest point it had the largest amount of gravitational potential energy and at its lowest point in the fall it had the smallest amount of gravitational potential energy, so we can see a difference in the potential. Same as for the terminals in the circuit the electric potential energy is the highest where it starts where it is in the negative terminal and the lowest at the positive terminal, because it loses the electric potential energy when in moves through the circuit heading to the positive terminal. Hope I helped

      If you move a charge, regardless of sign, from the negative terminal to the positive terminal, the change in electric potential will be positive. Potential only depends on the location in space and the charges that set up the electric field, and doesn't depend on the charge of the charged particle in question that is experiencing a change in potential.
      Given a positive charge, the corresponding change in potential energy will be positive.
      Given a negative charge, the corresponding change in potential energy will be negative.

    Why we say to define pd as work done to move unit positive charge
    Can we also say unit negative charge to define pd or potential

      How to give reference

    • @carultch
      @carultch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@varshapaliwal7464 Voltage means anything measured in Volts.
      Potential difference is a special case of EMF, that only applies when the electric field is conservative. It refers to potential at one point minus potential at another point. EMF is the general case of work done by an electric field around a given path. If magnetic induction applies due to a transient magnetic flux, then the induced voltage is an EMF, rather than a potential difference.
      EMF also refers to the ideal potential difference of a voltage source (such as a battery), as in what voltage it will deliver to its terminals if it had no internal losses. All real batteries have an internal resistance, so the terminal potential difference when delivering energy will be less than the ideal potential difference if there were no internal losses (which we call EMF).
