yeah multivitamins are *actually* useful for someone that eats zero vegetables. They're overkill for people with a balanced diet generally, according to the last literature I saw, but if you just live off snacks you could get a lot of benefit from em.
I'd be more concerned about the low blood pressure (considering Nene drinks a lot of water on stream, or well she used to) and her doctor telling her to just gobble up vitamins (risky considering she had that one incident of taking too many sleep meds earlier in the year). In the U.S., they fortify milk, eggs, and cereal with vitamin D, and yet the NCHS did a survey (2011-2014) saying >20% of the country's population had insufficient vitamin D levels. Consider living in Japan, where they don't fortify their food with vitamin D, plus an indoor job, and maybe even COVID times making everyone stay inside for a few years, and I think it's safe to assume most of HoloJP doesn't get as much vitamin D as they should. However lack of vitamin D is implicated in a million things, but it's almost always subclinical. Personal experience makes me hope they checked her thyroid levels, because hypothyroidism isn't uncommon in young women and can also lead to low BP (and depression). And yeah you're right, sunscreen shouldn't impact vitamin D levels very significantly despite blocking UVB, I don't feel Nene's doctor communicated that well either.
Loads of us are having Vitamin D deficiency these days. And like Nene says there is some strong correlation between mental health and vitamin D So thats something we indoor folk need to be careful about.
Kiara also said that about the correlation. In a winter where she touched grass more often her mood was significantly better than normal for the season.
Jesus Christ, Nenechi's blood pressure is more like a blood vaccum. She really needs to get her nutrition in check, but I suspect it's a difficult thing to do in Japan - my impression is that doctors aren't nearly as open nor comprehensive as here in the west.
Yeah, I hope she doesn’t go overboard. Many different vitamins have toxicity thresholds, that when passed, can mess you up for years, potentially. And increase your risk of cancer on their own. For example, taking excess Vitamin D for a long enough time period, (over 2000-3000 IU) can overload your cells in a way that can take years to recover. 2000 IU is probably as high as I’d go for someone with a deficiency, temporarily. and only 850 for safe, regular daily intake. Vitamin A is another one that shouldn’t be messed with. Overdosing on it can even be lethal. People should really research any vitamins before taking them, or check with a health professional.
Hooked on sugar. (Likely) allergic to certain vegetables. Low on vitamin. Bros, our wife really needs some long-term nutritional supervision. It's unfortunate that gifts are no longer an option or she'd be getting full meal plans tailored to her restrictions and needs. Yes to sunlight, yes yes yes. Hopping out of the house for a walk or park visit before the sun gets too hot is marvelous for both health and mood. That sweet sweet Vita-D that Kiara also craves.
If that's exactly what her doctor said, she needs a second opinion, to be fair. But perhaps she's just misremembering it. xD Studies have shown some evidence of lack of vitamins, particularly vitamin D to be linked to increased risk of cancer... but it's only a slight increase, and they are mostly inconclusive. It's just very very hard to study dietary effects. Not that she shouldn't care about it, but it's also not crazy bonkers you'll definitely get cancer if you have a vitamin deficiency. There are other associated risks though, for all vitamins. For Vitamin D it's about bone growth and cramps prevention. Avoid osteoporosis. But Vitamin D deficiency in particular cannot be solved with supplements alone, and there's already a lot of doubt that supplements really do anything. Lots of vitamin deficiencies cannot be solved by taking supplements because what you really need is for the body to produce it by itself. It's the whole process that is beneficial to your health, not only the substance by itself. For vitamin D it seems it also doesn't get absorbed well. What Nenechi and a few other Holomems really need is a healthier lifestyle, eat better and exercise more, fix their clocks to go out and take some Sun every now and then. Doesn't need to be full blown direct mid day sunlight too... if the worry is about tanning or even skin cancer, it can also be early in the morning or at dawn. Cloudy days. Some of it is always better than nothing. xD Hard to do with the schedule they have, but you know, better to understand the whole truth than waddle on alternatives that are not very effective... Lots more data came out around this after the self quarantine period during the pandemic, I think there are some chances of doctors and people blowing some stuff out of proportions due to the extra attention, so keep that in mind too.
Where do you get that supplements have "doubts about working" from? The closest i could find was, that a lot of people not needing them are taking them.
when I watch Nene, I always worry about my blood sugar levels

@@bingbingwahoo iirc nene is thin irl so if you don't use proper cuff size bp readings would be low.
Thanks! A healthy Nene is a happy Nene.
Our wife is close to risking scurvy...
Sad gyaarrrh.
I wish Nene would eat more vegetables.
thank god it was just a vitamin deficiency lol
Nene making sure her crop of carrots gets enough sun to grow big and strong 🤪

Everybody should take a blood check. Really
Had a feeling immediately it was what she said.
And, uh, I doubt her doctor told her to take a ton of those gummies. That's dangerous as well.

idk but i just imagine Nene streaming in sun light to take vitamin D

Our Wife dancing, singing and playing games only with 5%. IMAGINE what she can do when she is fully charged!
Sasuga Nenechi the Galaxy Seal Bear Wife
I expected this more from Marine.
She's like me frfr 💀 (though idk how low my vitamin levels are)
Vita Gummy! JUICY!
...sorry

I was deficient in vitamin D once, taking supplements works fine
