These cookies are very close to authentic osmania biscuit from Hyderabad, India! They are so delicious! In the US or any country where you use Fahrenheit, you want to convert your temperature accordingly. I tried the 180 degree Celsius to 355 degree Fahrenheit conversion, but 25 minutes is too long, and the cookies may burn, so I would do 325 degrees for 15-22 minutes and watch very carefully in the end to take out when you have that beautiful golden color. The cookies are best at a 1.25 cm or half inch thickness. Cool properly after baking to let it cook through properly in its residual heat. Thank you for this wonderful recipe! Update: I followed the temperature per video but just placed my tray on the top rack and rotate my tray every 5 minutes to get a uniform color, and that took care of it!
I just wanted to get back to you regarding your comment of 325 degrees for 15-22 mins; I tried your suggestion with cookies in the middle rack of the oven and my cookies turned out slightly harder; the bottom was slightly over browned while the top remained slightly golden yellow...they still tasted great and were yummy but the texture was not as crumbly as a typical Osmania biscuit as mine were a tad bit firmer. I tried the recipe to the T as shown in the video. I am thinking 350 degrees for a period of 20 mins may be the right temperature unless you experimented with your suggested temperature and gotten the perfect results? Would love to hear your comments!!!
@@ReddyzFun I tried the temperature according to the recipe as mentioned in the video 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes and mine were almost burnt at 22 minutes which is why I suggested a lower temperature. Glad to hear it worked for you! Must also depend on the kind of oven you have. Will keep you updated once I try to bake another batch, Thanks!
@@SF-es3ffI agree with your comment regarding the type of oven…I had some varied outcomes depending on gas vs electric ovens; gas ovens have a higher latent heat than the electric ones and also the position on the rack matters. I will also try another batch and keep you posted.
I tried another batch over the weekend and have gotten a much better success compared to the last time and also some lessons learned. I am using a natural gas oven range and baked these cookies on the middle rack at 350 F for about 20 mins; they came out super perfect with a golden brown color on the top and brown at the bottom; I could have even gone upto 25 mins at 350 F The cookies were soft, crispy just like the original Osmania biscuits. One of the things I changed this time is I upped the butter to 1.5 stick, plus I ensured the cookies did not move from the baking tray while adding the milk + custard powder mix before going into the oven; as last time some of the cookies moved off the sheet while trying to drip the excess milk. Overall, super happy with the outcome.
