Came here from your comment on Fallout 76; was intrigued by your username. And whaddaya know, there's a Black Sabbath cover on the first page of your profile. Love 'em to death (my fav's Zero the Hero at any rate). Anyway, sick skills man. Subbed!
Thank you 😎 I watched as many cover videos and Iommi videos as I could find before doing this. I also used Moises to isolate and slow down the guitars. As far as I can tell, the studio recording has two rhythm guitars doing slightly different things in places. Tony obviously just does one of them live - and what he plays for this part live at around :40 is what I’m doing here. It’s just D-0 G-2 B-3 to D-0 G-2 B-2, repeated twice. It doesn’t follow the descending root note pattern that the other studio rhythm guitar is doing and that everyone I’ve seen on TH-cam does: moving the D root down to Db, then to B, etc. However, since that’s also part of the song, I deviated from Tony and played it like that every other time 😄 Another maybe interesting thing is under the “bloody angels fast descending” section - again, EVERY person I’ve seen on TH-cam is doing something in the open D position there, but there are many glimpses on videos of Tony playing that part at the 5th fret D position. Not saying anything I did was right or definitive or blah blah, because I believe everyone’s interpretation of any song they play is valid. I’d like to think we’re all together, loving the same music, and we can support each other and appreciate how others hear, feel and play a song without saying things like they’re “doing it wrong” or whatever. ✌🏻
Another great job of playing a great Black Sabbath song. One question I have that I'm sure you would probably know since it looks like a ton of different guitars. Here's a video link to Black Sabbath playing on their 1995 Forbidden tour, and Iommi is playing a guitar during one of their new songs that I've never seen him play anytime before or after this: th-cam.com/video/0KHowmoVNek/w-d-xo.html It kind of looks like he's using a different guitar on the song Mob Rules as well: th-cam.com/video/0KHowmoVNek/w-d-xo.html This 1995 tour lineup is just about the same band lineup as when I saw them on the 1994 Cross Purposes tour in Detroit, MI. at the State Theater (which was very small). Except Neil Murray is on Bass on the 1995 tour instead of Geezer Butler who was with them the year before. And this place they're playing here in 1995 must be even smaller than the State Theater in Detroit, Because in 1994 they had two extra stacks of Laney amps on Iommi's side of the stage then, and two more stacks of Marshalls on Geezer's side of the stage. And it was definitely the loudest concert I've ever been to, with Motorhead and Morbid Angel as opening bands.
That guitar on "Can't Get Close Enough" - I've never seen him play it before, never seen that footage before, don't recognize it at all. So, yeah 😄 On "Mob Rules" he usually switches to an SG with a locking trem, 'cause he does some dive bombs and some other stuff with it on that song. You even see this with Heaven & Hell, he always went to a white SG with a trem bridge for "Mob Rules". 😎✌🏻
Perfect performance !!! I love it !! 🤘🤘

Thank you 😎. I love "Zero the Hero" too and - well, that whole Born Again album with Ian Gillan is great stuff. 🤘🏻
This is amazing!! What are you doing with the D pattern at the .40 sec mark?
Thank you 😎

Can you recommend more suitable strings for the Epiphone Iommi?
I use Ernie Ball Slinkies, 9’s or 10’s - usually 10’s on the Iommi.
You are the one
haha, thanks 😎

@@OldGuitarMan ok thanks for the information. I was just curious about it.
My favorite song since 1980 when I was 15 ..If I play it now my grown kids tell me to turn that satanic music down 🤣 🤘🏼
