I was on the road during these finals. I knew the ultimate outcome, and have seen some of the highlights -- but I have been waiting to finally get to watch this set play out - and man... that was so worth the wait. That G3 defense by SK was one of the most amazing moments I've ever seen in any Smite match - let alone, on the world stage. Just a great job in understanding who to rotate back and how to play that defense. I think Rival could feel things slipping and just felt like they had to end then, maybe a bit anxious, but I gotta hand it to them for having the balls to make that call. What a great SWC finals set. Congratulations to SK Gaming, the team and the organization -- and to every member for their outstanding play. I would have hated to try to pick an MVP for this because each one of them did a great job at picking up for others and playing to their team's strengths and weaknesses. Supps never get the love, but for me - and this isn't to take anything away from Sam4Soccer2 -- but Nielmah did everything right throughout their SWC run to set his teammates up for success - he's an MVP in my book.
Well, correct me if im wrong but... i do not think they really threw at that game, it was more like SK making a good defense. If you can see the mistakes rival did then sure, tell me. Pandacat was with PBM, he alone could have ended SK titan and he had pbm to peel, however he misstimed his beads and got cc by Neil knockup. Add that to Paul's dmg and you got a dead merlin. Granted that the loss really crippled Rival on the next game.
@@theBinsen ??? Of course it was a mistake. First off they KNEW SK had at least 1 or 2 people defending the Titan, because before they go in Sam already stuns and hits them with the hammer. There were only Pandacat and PBM alive at the time. With a Merlin and Khepri with no ult vs 2 or 3 people its going to be difficult to get onto the titan, but they could have defended their phoenix instead quite easily because of the Merlin who is much better at defending an objective than diving one. These types of super risky backdoor plays aren't something you do when you're 2 alive vs 5 in the SWC Final...
@@ilyas2067 No, they wouldn't have been able to defend 2v5. They might've gotten a kill, but the Titan would've gone down in the end. The only chance they had was to go for SK's Titan and hope that SK didn't send enough people back to defend. They lost when the lost the fight before that.
deonax they weren't going to defend 2v5, they could've just made sure that SK sent back 2 or 3 of their members to defend the obvious backdoor, then recall in jungle safely and defend their titan. That backdoor was so obvious, you don't do this in SWC final!
Even with the misshap that happened at the 1st game, these worlds were on fire! Spoiler alert! Congratulations to SK for winning worlds, they definitely worked hard, and it wasnt easy, Beating Splyce; defending world champs, Renegades; the team that won MSI without a single loss, and Rival? Not to mention they did what this game is about, teamwork.
Guess you didn't hear all the freezes and issues they refused to remake until Rival: The same issue as in the first game here. That happened, and cost some teams their games. But the casters just said shit like "Dignitas just gave up the early game". Nope: Their server screwed over EU only teams and hirez refused to remake those, and then gave special treatment to Rival. I get it: Its the finals, all eyes are on you, you've got spare time. But by doing that you literally spat in the face of the integrity of the competition and the players who they forced to deal with Smite issues. They set a precedent, at this point they should've stuck to it, or remade all games that had those issues. It's embarrassing, pathetic, and insulting to every smite fan. This worlds was literally a fluke. As happy as I am with Zap winning worlds finally, to me it just doesn't feel like it was really earned.

If you would have really watched worlds then you would have really understood that servers were not the problem, however it feels like you just want to pin the blame on it and rant around. These world had some games with issues, that is correct. However, the issues were with equipment (game 1 of rival Vs Dignitas with trixtank keyboard) and the finals with game 1 (persephone bug/glitch that caused a crash) For the persephone one, they restarted it and the crash happened again, thus making persephone banned from finals. The most afflicted were SK since they had a good early game on both cancelled games. Neither of them were server based. I understand that servers have their issues on normal play, but please dont put the blame on something that did not happen in finals will ya? And if you do not think SK deserved it, watch the whole SPL phase 2, watch the top teams and watch these worlds, they fought against the top 3 teams that had the highest chances of taking worlds: Splyce, RNG and Rival. If you can beat those big boss teams and you say they dont deserve it, then your definition of "deserve" is flawed.

The reason why there was a restart on the matchup of Rival and SK is because of Persephone bug, theres a difference between something happening due to a bug with a god and technical issues with the likes of keyboards!
I use to play Paragon a bunch before the devs turned it into crap but i later switched to Smite and will say this is by far the best moba on consoles atm
Smite is pretty underrated. I understand that there are better MOBAs but just the uniqueness of Smite you can't get anywhere else while still being a fun game.
If they want to learn from what they did right vs what they do now. They need the game sounds in the streams and at worlds. I don’t just wanna hear the casters too I want to feel like I’m in the game, the same can be said about the music. ORGS are a hugeeee reason why people can connect with pros and understand the importance of a esport. And finally last but not least Regional smite finals and regional specific teams. This will allow for rivals, regional metas. And Hype

Neil mah backed so now its a 3v2 on titan so rival could have backed the second they got spotted. Also paul started to back as well so it hard to say if it would have been a 2v2 or 2v3 but they could have prolly defended in the worse case scenario 2v3

The rigged comments are because of the lack of reset Dignitas got when Trix had to pause the game and had an in-game issue come up. They were not allowed a remake, but in this case a remake was granted. That's where the drama lies.

S/o to Rival for throwing another season Edit: They were wildly uncoordinated and it worse towards the end. The team fight at 3:05:55 was super sloppy. They used too many abilities and relics to try and kill Paul and Zapman, which they didn’t. PandaCat and Arkkyl walked right past Sam which caused them both to die. FineOkay overcommitted on Zapman and got punished. Then Twig got cleaned up.

October Sweet well you can’t ban him out... you try focus him but first you have to get past neilmah then as soon as your carries step up they have Sam blinking on them... if you look at the last 3 SWC winners it’s the team that can’t be banned out and don’t seem to have any weaknesses. Before this it would have been belair but he was amazing on Achilles and was able to play it every game....

Doug is the “camera operator” spectator for all the SPL games. He’s the guy who has to follow all the action in Smites shitty spectator mode to bring you the SPL.

That on top of everyone saying Paul is the best Midlaner this season. He's undoubtedly one of the best Persephone's too, so Pandacat was mainly picking her to take her away from Paul. But with Perse being bugged out, it was pretty much a built in ban against SK. Paul is really good with Perse, Ullr, Merlin, and Hel. With the built in ban, Rival could make sure SK couldn't play any of them while still playing their own stuff
@@Chhor21 I'd be willing to bet Pandacat, knowing that Paul has an insane persephone and that its going to be a pick/ban guaranteed every game, spent a lot of time playing Persephone to be competitive. That means a lot of the training be did on the god would have been wasted time, so I think it very much hurt both teams

Late af reply but she was banned due to a bug, believe it or not, at the very beginning of this set. It’s why the had to reset Game 1. Think it was a bug with her abilities messing up character movement?
That Hatchi stun on Fineokay near the end there was perfect lol . Earlier on erlang turtle too and on Anhur, lol that move is way better than I though if done right. I called SK ages ago and people laughed at me .. >:) glad to be right and see the underdog team win.

Match reset was cause the Persephone draft that rival picked caused a glitch in the game and disconnected the player, thus the reset was called with the perma ban on Persephone
This was before the purple buff change where the “old purple” (the one in the video) used to give 10% prot shred and was more of a tank buff not for the ADC’s! They would pick it up to be more tanky for late game!
Everyone just kind of noticed, that you can ein if everybody is constantly rotating. There are some new jungle objectives that can't be taken in time by just one jungler, so they kind of said "f*ck it" and built team comps that can win team fights and gank so much that a normal laning pgase, where such a team would fail, can't even exist
I’m not a professional smite gamer but I do enjoy games like this where in team work is essential n I can see where in rival had a few holes in the last game tbh the third game back door was a bad call you know it’s expected especially by professional gamers who think alike best play was to bait out the returns n return to defend titan game 4 didn’t ward or rotate as often as sk to help in left lane which was painful to watch cause it was 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 no wards either which obviously got punished for it but teamwork for real rotate more they did later on but I think it should’ve been done from the other team started to do so me personally playing jungle I start rotation as the game start I’m yellow buff blue help solo lane then red buff rotate to right lane help there then rotate back to middle which gives that extra pressure early I don’t push kills but I do enough for them to have to waste healing items or recall I might fall back in lv sometimes but I normally make sure I’m a lv or two above everyone else but I don’t play competitive matches cause ppl are mad toxic in the regular ones can you imagine in ranks 🤷🏽♂️ but great game play learned from both two teams I always try to learn more n watch plays n builds I’m not the best nor do I want to I just wanna learn from everyone enjoy playing meet ppl who loves the game more than their salty ego but game 4 rivals made errors from early in the game

At that point, they kinda lost the game either way. They could not have defended against a 5-man push with just PBM and Panda. The idea was ok, but as soon as they were spotted by Sam, they instantly lost the game no matter what they decided to do from that point. Backing was too late (and as I said, they couldn't have defended 2v5 even had they backed sooner), so they had to go for a Hail Mary attempt on the Titan.
If zap didn’t have Neil hugging him in game 4, arrkyl would have slapped him in lane. His ullr In game 3 was insane as well until after they got deicided
They don't throw, they just only know how to get a lead and play from ahead with early pressure. Any other good team that knows how to counter that just dumpsters that playstyle
At this point if your team reaches the finals you have to be celebrating already cos its guaranteed that you face Rival and be winning, damn poor Rival always choking in the finals 3 years in a row.

Doug is the “camera operator” spectator for all the SPL games. He’s the guy who has to follow all the action in Smites shitty spectator mode to bring you the SPL.

What was going on with the merlin ban game "1" why the uproar
Earlier on the match, there was a different pick/bans that involved with Paul from SK getring merlin and PandaCat from rival getting persephone, however, persephone bugged out the game, causing pandacat to DC, so they removed persephone for these finals and rival banned merlin, thus maiing the uproar since paul was going to play merlin in the cancelled game
That on top of everyone saying Paul is the best Midlaner this season. He's undoubtedly one of the best Persephone's too, so Pandacat was mainly picking her to take her away from Paul. But with Perse being bugged out, it was pretty much a built in ban against SK. Paul is really good with Perse, Ullr, Merlin, and Hel. With the built in ban, Rival could make sure SK couldn't play any of them while still playing their own stuff
Henry Chhor Paul, Pandacat and Venenu are easily the best midlaners this season
@@Chhor21 I'd be willing to bet Pandacat, knowing that Paul has an insane persephone and that its going to be a pick/ban guaranteed every game, spent a lot of time playing Persephone to be competitive. That means a lot of the training be did on the god would have been wasted time, so I think it very much hurt both teams

Late af reply but she was banned due to a bug, believe it or not, at the very beginning of this set. It’s why the had to reset Game 1. Think it was a bug with her abilities messing up character movement?

Match reset was cause the Persephone draft that rival picked caused a glitch in the game and disconnected the player, thus the reset was called with the perma ban on Persephone

Why do the jungles pick up purple late game?
This was before the purple buff change where the “old purple” (the one in the video) used to give 10% prot shred and was more of a tank buff not for the ADC’s! They would pick it up to be more tanky for late game!

Everyone just kind of noticed, that you can ein if everybody is constantly rotating. There are some new jungle objectives that can't be taken in time by just one jungler, so they kind of said "f*ck it" and built team comps that can win team fights and gank so much that a normal laning pgase, where such a team would fail, can't even exist

I’m not a professional smite gamer but I do enjoy games like this where in team work is essential n I can see where in rival had a few holes in the last game tbh the third game back door was a bad call you know it’s expected especially by professional gamers who think alike best play was to bait out the returns n return to defend titan game 4 didn’t ward or rotate as often as sk to help in left lane which was painful to watch cause it was 2 v 1 or 3 v 1 no wards either which obviously got punished for it but teamwork for real rotate more they did later on but I think it should’ve been done from the other team started to do so me personally playing jungle I start rotation as the game start I’m yellow buff blue help solo lane then red buff rotate to right lane help there then rotate back to middle which gives that extra pressure early I don’t push kills but I do enough for them to have to waste healing items or recall I might fall back in lv sometimes but I normally make sure I’m a lv or two above everyone else but I don’t play competitive matches cause ppl are mad toxic in the regular ones can you imagine in ranks 🤷🏽♂️ but great game play learned from both two teams I always try to learn more n watch plays n builds I’m not the best nor do I want to I just wanna learn from everyone enjoy playing meet ppl who loves the game more than their salty ego but game 4 rivals made errors from early in the game

At that point, they kinda lost the game either way. They could not have defended against a 5-man push with just PBM and Panda.
The idea was ok, but as soon as they were spotted by Sam, they instantly lost the game no matter what they decided to do from that point. Backing was too late (and as I said, they couldn't have defended 2v5 even had they backed sooner), so they had to go for a Hail Mary attempt on the Titan.
