All reviewers always review the high end models of these two bakkies, its good seeing a review for the lower specced models for those of us looking for options to buy. Thanks alot

Toyota a good buy when new and for longer keeps, and 2nd market, the Ford will be a wise buy but expect some reliability issues down the line of long ownership, e.g. the gearbox and some sensor/s malfunction. Lastly, all cars last, some are worthy of lasting (Hilux)

What are you talking about? Just because you don't know how to take care of the Ford.
Got a 2014 Ranger 2.2 M/T. Used Amsoil Engine Oil, Transmission and Axle oil all amsoil. Got 180km on the clock and the performance is just like the same when I bought it (literally). The secret is that I just change oil earlier and more often than recommended. Plus, I use the best oils only. Comfortable and powerful small pickup. Fun to drive.
The secret to any car is change the oil more often than required.. I even change oil in between required interval. It's literally like new in terms of performance. I haul construction materials because I am a contractor. And I use to overtake Honda Civics on the open highway too.

180km it's nothing compared to what Toyota does, go to the mines and see which bakkies they use the most for heavy duty, Toyota goes up to 500k of milage without any major problems while Ford, yes vey fast and comfortable but when it reaches about 240k of milage that's when the problems, serious problems starts.. Many engine sensors start to mulfunction, gearbox and many other

As per your recommendation and after watching this test the mahindra still seems to be better value for money as a workhorse. Thanks

Why you did not include the Isuzu X-Rider, or it does not fit in this category?

You compared the high spec 2.4hilux vs low spec 2.2 ranger and that hilux in the video is R601400.00
You must compair the 2.4 sr 4x4 mt to that ranger xl

Hi you comparing a automatic Ford Ranger fuel consumption to A Toyota Manual gearbox - It's obvious, a Manual gearbox always more fuel efficient - that's my reason for always going Manual on bakkie based vehicles, Whereas on high end vehicles the Auto gearbox is often more fuel efficient, more pleasurable to drive than the manual gearbox

Toyota is more economical, because it's manual.
