'카입'은 일렉트로니카 장르를 기반으로 자신만의 새로운 시각과 색다른 감성으로 선보이고 있는 뮤지션이다. 국내에서 한 장의 정규앨범을 냈을 뿐이지만, 브라이언 이노, 윤상, 이상은 등의 최고의 아티스트들과 함께 작업을 했을 만큼 실력파라는 사실은 이미 잘 알려져 있다.
'카입' 과의 작업은 밤 11시가 넘어서야 시작할 수 있었다. 촬영 장소가 이태원에 위치한 MMMG STORE였던지라 가게의 영업이 모두 끝나기를 기다려야 했다. 2층의 FREITAG 매장이 이날의 주 무대였다. '카입'과 드럼, 베이스, 기타 세션들이 먼저 도착해 세팅을 시작했고, 보컬을 맡은 이승열과 김진아가 차례로 도착했다. 모든 준비가 끝나고 촬영을 시작했을 때는 새벽 1시를 조금 넘긴 시간이었는데, 건물의 방음이 예상보다 효과적이고 주거지역이 아니었던 탓에 밴드 사운드였음에도 불구하고 아무런 탈 없이 작업을 진행할 수 있었다.
이날 촬영 중 가장 재미있었던 것은 우연히 발견한 매장조명의 효과였다. 전문 공연장이 아닌, 매장용 조명이어서 카메라 화면에 비친 공간은 우리가 직접 눈으로 보는 것보다도 훨씬 더 밝은 톤인 것처럼 보였다. 불을 껐다 다시 켜보면서 우리는 조명이 곧바로 밝아지는 게 아니라 시간을 두고 점차 밝아진다는 것을 발견했다. 불이 완전히 켜지기까지 약 3분 여가 걸리는 조명이었던 것이다. 우리는 그것을 그대로 이용해보기로 하였고, 컴컴한 밤을 거쳐 푸른빛의 새벽으로 이어지는 듯한 영상의 느낌은 이렇게 우연의 도움으로 연출되었다.

I can listen to this over and over again. They have such a great sound and Yi Sung Yol has a good voice and Kim Jin Ah's voice complements it so well during the chorus. This really is the type of song you want to listen to on a long drive.
And then I realize, like Simon, I don't have my license :(
