- OK, Gang, here is a GREAT in-the-moment-created video of when we went to inspect, consider acquiring, and bring home a reproduction of the 1923 Powell PH Racer!
OMG, the editing process of this was the most amazing example of following the energies of “my Friends” as the videoing, picture-taking, and editing processes unfolded.
You might want to get a box of Kleenex for the ending because I tear up EVERY time I watch it!

Awe, I felt so sorry for Hal. That had to be killing him letting her go. The craftsmanship looked outstanding and he seemed like such a nice fella. You and Ken were very kind and patient with him. The world needs more Kermits and Kens. Great job guys!
i think he was genuinely touched that his dream would now feature as a character to inspire the young, and young at heart.
when kermit picked up and set the tail down on concrete, you could sound how solid the airframe sounded. like when you slam a door on a well made car and can tell its solid.
You're a good man, Kermit. For all you have done to promote and share all that is aviation and to celebrate and honor those who have made aviation a part of their lives, too, thank you. Semper Fi, My Friend, and God bless.

The end of that choked me up, we are all custodians all but for a short time and to hand dreams on is priceless.
What a cool and rare aircraft! It never ceases to amaze me the number of one-off aircraft from that time period. I feel bad for Hal though, nit only because he was semi-forced to sell the aircraft, but also because he and his wife were given some really pretty terrible news. I hope he has as long as possible.

The original Powell PH Racer was all plywood and cloth construction and it did have leather hinges for the control surfaces, its weight was actually really close to meeting FAR 103, the plans that are available now use a steal tube frame, wood, and cloth construction, making the plane heavier. I picked up a set up plans awhile back the intention of building an ultralight version someday.

Freebie suggestion: Have Hal's and Jaqueline's names painted on each side. Sort of to keep his memory tied to the airplane.

its very rare to see 2 "forever young" spirits in the same place, at the same time, but thats what starred in this video here. you and hal strike me as "2 brothers from another mother." hal seemed genuinely touched his dream would become a character to inspire the young, and young at heart. i hope he makes it long enough to see you finish the plane.
i also hopes he makes it to fantasy of flight again and you can treat him like a king who walks the earth!!!!

I have to empathize with Hal. As we reach a certain age it's a concern that we don't want to leave a lot of work and hardship on our family if our health declines. I'm grateful that Hal can depend on someone like Kermit who is more than willing and able to step in and help when needed. This was a very heartwarming and touching video.
This Powell PH looks like the real deal. The Knight Twister killed a lot of pilots including one Blue Angel pilot. 🤠

Great Video. Good men. I loved the nod to The Rocketeer. My dad had a small part in that film, one of his last on screen appearances. He's been gone for nearly 20 years now. It's bittersweet knowing that these planes will be around long after we're gone, but what a wonderful legacy. Thanks for all that you do, Kermit. Great memories for those of us with many hours, and an inspiration to the next generation.

Got to love those Greatest Generation types, they have absolute Treasure stashed and horded all over the country. I hope you make that lil racer fly again someday.....you'd go from the Martin MARS monster to this little flea.....the flea being the more dangerous of the 2 to fly.

This video was very touching. I can empathize with Hal as I currently restore old cars and have the same passion you all do with planes. I'm getting up there in age and with 15 projects left, I don't know if I'll see the end of them all either. I'm so happy that you treated him so respectfully and I can't think of anyone better his project could have gone to. Thank you Mr. Weeks!

That old guy is a national treasure Kermit, so glad you are looking after him. Just imagine if he passed before you got to cross paths and all his stories were left untold? A lost fortune that no amount of money could rival
What a beautiful little airplane. You are a good man. It is plain to see how much you care for not just the airplanes but also very much for the persons who value them as living history. Hopefully Hal will get to see it take flight before his final flight. Keep up the good work.

What a nice little plane you have got there! A great project for Ken to finish. Sometimes It is the small and one off plane that inspires a young boy‘s or girl‘s dream. What you do for aviation can not be overestimated. What you do to kids’ hearts is even more impressive. Light the spark within.
